Welcome to the site. Many here acknowledge a higher power for the help its given us or to our Loved ones. There are a few here that share your victory.Congratulations on 22 years and tomorrow.
  4. Hmmmm, thats not good if true. that means i have to take the switch assembly apart possibly the entire bike has a fine dust over everything i hope it didn't get into the switch.
  5. Okay, I was working on the new 86 and notice the horns not working. Okay simple answer is that the fuse is blown. I open the fuse box but no horn fuse there. I find an auxiliary fuse box with 5 and 10 blade fuses but no horn fuse there either. One of the 10 amp fuses was blown so thats taken care of but................ So i still am not sure where to find it. the schematic shows there is one, I've been on the different tech sections i just can't find any info on this location. i hope its not just out obvious someplace that I'm missing. Does anyone know where it is?????
  6. Good luck to you and hope you have you back in the addle soon. My prayer go out to you.
  7. Hey in New York small town justices don't even need to have a law degree. Anyone can be a sitting judge. And believe me there are some very scarry people as sitting Judges up here. D.A. telling judges what they can do or have to do. its nuts!
  8. Jayceefolly broke two of those. he said its best to brace the "neck" with an adjustable crescent as you easy the cap lose. Of course for you now its too late. Ask a member with a parts bike if he has one. i just sold the one off my 85 to Jaycee.
  9. If its two cylinders down could there be a blockage of gas on that one side??? or maybe a hung up choke cable causing an improper mixture?
  10. Too many times these young riders come from families where no one else rides. They ride with their friends and today everyone thinks stuntin' is cool. When i used to sell bikes I was shocked at how many parents came in and plunked down money on a cutting edge 600 sport bike for a kid that had only riden dirt bikes off road a couple of year. Parents didn"t ride and thought a 600 was a "safe" little sport bike. I helped my kids buy bikes but told them the first bike won't be a sport bike. Start with a standard or cruiser and work your way up to it.

The only other bike I had considered other than the venture. Especially the green and cream color. But that was before I got my hand on this sweet 86. But what a great bike congrats.
  12. Phil welcome on board. A great bike and a great forum. If you haven't yet look into the motorcycle safety course as others have recommended . It will be the best money ever spent. Learn the proper way to resurrect your bike if it ever goes down. ( butt on the seat push with your legs) . and continue to enjoy the friendship and good advice you'll get here. I joined 3 years ago and its been worth every minute .
  13. They do get a little whiney but that's usually covered in the warranty. (see other threads here on that.) and they"lll never be as fast as a first gen! Hee hee! but welcome !

Ya know this site was recommended to me by a guy from a Honda Ace shadow Tour site and they are also a very nice site. In fact I believe several of our members here are members there as well because their wives and signifigant others ride Shadows.
  15. Though I know this is late in coming please add my prayers and condolence to all the others here. I too have two children that ride and I recommended the MSF course to them as well. But as much as I love motorcycling I always worried just a little about getting them into this sport that I love so much. Be strong. God bless.
  16. THATS LIKE THE ONE MY BROTHER SENT ME OF THOSE GUYS THAT CLIMB THOSE GIANT TRANSMISSION ANTENNA'S ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP TO WORK ON THEM. TALK ABOUT PUCKER FACTOR!!!!
  17. Found something similar to that on my 86 which has a full trailer hitch set up. i'm assuming its for that.
  18. The Ventures have also had a rear end whine problem as mentioned before. But that can be identified because its louder when turning to the left t hat the right( or vice versa) its a problem that can be help with a good cleaning in the hub. I only bring this up because its best to identify WHERE the whine is coming from before you start demanding dealers replace parts. good luck.
  19. We'll keep our fingers cross about the international. But you get here when you get here. If we don't see you, you'll be dearly missed, but that just means that when you do get back there will be that much more love awaiting you and Al!Good luck with the case we'll be cheering for you. Til we see you again. phil.
  20. I'd be glad to sell them to ya. But I was planning on removing the progressive springs I installed in 2009. Drop me a PM and we can talk price. If i like it I'll send the progressives too.
  21. Think of what the world could accomplish with 5 more guys like Boomer!
  22. Man am I excited . She looks good and despite the few gremlins ran great too. It was tough when the 85 went down last fall. I still had my Sabre but my girlfriend Terri sure does enjoy the comfort of the Venture. Okay short Rant! Went to register it today and New York wanted me to pay tax on the "Fair market value" of the bike. They called someone on Albany that told them fair market value on an 86 venture was $3,370.00. Seeing as how I paid almost $1200. less I now have to send a Statement of transaction to the owner to sign and fill out or i have to pay the full tax amount, about $250.00!!! What the F*$@?! I mean it is a 26 year old motorcycle ! I'm retired on a fixed income and still paying for the ex's home and her maintenance,(That's what they call alimony now.) Plus my own home. I had to sell off two other bikes plus parts from the old 85 just to afford the 86. I'm driving a sixteen year old car as my daily driver and everything else in my garage was made in the mid eighties. Oh well!
  23. I think I saw this on the Sistine Chapel when i was in Rome.
