Its nice to know that a twenty plus year old motorcycle can pretty much hold its own to a new Wing. In top of that I believe the sporty manuverability of the newer wings was because the 1st Gen Venture always had that sportier image and feel. And lets face it the 1800cc flat six has had years of refinement for 2012. I agree that the sound of the MKII is nice throaty even at speed. The wings are incredibly quiet which is very cool, but man I like the sound of a motorcycle and think it's really a part of the experience.

I have one as well from my 85 but i might suggest that maybe you take Greg's advice. then you"ll have a fresh new rubber hose or steel. If theres a truck supply store near you they may be able to make up for you.

Vent resistance?
PBJ replied to Rosie1965's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I hope you weren't referring to Big Tom with that remark!!!!! -
Never had one....Always wanted one.... Bought my 85 because I felt that was the closet thing to one that I could afford at the time. Have a toy one sitting on the shelf behind me. I can look at it and dream, or ride my comparable old 84 Honda V65 Sabre.

sorry to hear about the mess. i went through it from 2007 to 2009. I actually bought my Venture because of it. The ex rode her own bike none of the girlfriend(S) did or do. can"t say I can complain. Point is no matter how bad it is now good things will come out of it. Believe me!

You don"t know how funny that sound we have all those same places here in New york.

Hey Bones hope you can join us all for a ride. Rstacy and NYJerry will be glad to get together with you us . Rstacy: i thought maybe it might be you. with the new ride, o well. NYJerry; hey Jerry i was working the limo saturday. I just finished the work i needed to do on the new ride and i hope we can get together and ride a bit and talk about the Finger lakes ride. Personally i think Keuka might be too ambitious. Maybe we can hit Conesus and Canadice first and end with rt.21 on Canandaigua. that would be three lakes and the first two are small so they won"t take too much time. As far as Lunch I'll recommend Nolan's right on the lake or Steam Boat Landing. Schooners is off the lake but good food and plenty oof parking. We'll talk . Phil.

Well its good to have a buddy with free weight but heres a trick that i use all the time. Start with a low weight and lift it or lower it to an 8 or ten count. You get a lot more work out using a lot less weight and burning more calories. Why? because most people push and lower a weight too quickly. the actual amount of time the weight is in suspension or the muscles are being taxed is only a few seconds. One repetition with a count of 6 to 8 seconds is many times as much work as 3 or 4 reps. And because you are doing it slower you have to use less weight. I've been doing it for over ten years and added several pounds of muscle and have not injured myself in all that time. Its a simple trick that is incredibly effective. Even if its simple push ups or squats.

Once was in the car with my son We were following a guy with really loud straight pipes on his bike. It was horribly loud while we were behind him. But I wanted to show my son something about the adage about loud pies. So we passed the gentleman on his bike and I turned the radio off and I told my son to listen. With the bike only a car length or so behind us he could barely hear him at all. With the radio on not at all. The only one who hears loud bikes going down the road are those sitting in their houses and they only get annoyed. On top of that how many time have you gone riding with someone with loud pipes and NO ONE wants to ride behind the guy????? But again that's personal choice even if the logic isn't sound.

I want one!!!!!!!

We've been here before. I never understood why you'd want to pay insurance companies a lot more money for the privilage to ride with out a helmet AND endanger your life and effect your families well being. I mean lets face it , you cream your brains in your skull then you you get to sit in a wheel chair all day while the wife gets to go back to work and raise the kids. And it won't have even been your fault when that 80 year old woman turns left in front of you and t-bone her Mercury Marquis. Choice is a wonderful thing! I chose to wear a helmet because it protect my brain AND I chose to NOT to pay the insurance companies anymore money than I have to. Like I said Choice is good!

Rear Brake slightly dragging.
PBJ replied to GolfVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Remember that that reservoir in the rear is not under pressure but you really have to pump them back up after any pad replacement. I just did mine this week. But this sounds more like you need to spray the pedal linkages good with WD40 and clean out any road debris that may have collected in there. Spray it real good and wipe it clean then oil of grease it again and see how it is. Road grime can work its way in there and be just enough to impede easy movement. -
Man is that old Not only that But i know the guy that really did that. I worked with him at General motors here in Rochester New York. He was big in trying to get the Income Tax repealed here in the U.S. so he went to the local federal building with a box full of hammers and and siting what he had read about what the Government paid he wanted to pay his taxes with them. needles to say they wouldn't accept them and and had to have him removed from the office. His name is Robert Surrini and he was a character and a half. He used to love doing stuff to poke a finger in the eye of local officals and police. He once had a stand off with police for hours because he wouldn't get out of his car when he got pulled over. They had half a dozen cop cars all around him. Sheriffs came to his house once and found marijuana plants growing in his back yard. He called the cops and told them they removed them illegally because they didn't have a search warrant.Unfortunately for Bob they were in relatively plain sight from the side of his house. Bob was a bit peculiar but deep down he was a funny guy. never hurt anyone. Last I heard he moved to Maine. haven't heard from him in years. Maybe he moved to Canada???!!!

1984 ( old goats bike )
PBJ replied to chuck6121's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
From what I can see on my 85 There are two wires to the sending unit the ground is screwed to the radiator coupling with a male female connector in the wire the other wire connects to the sending unit Skydoc calls that the dog bone. One of the houses attaches to the radiator and the other (I believe ) attaches to the carbs. One of the hoses you mentioned should be attached to that piece The one from the radiator that is the farthest to the right . I'm not sure if the other is necessary of not it may be a vacuum line others will know about this. I'm still learning as I'm disassembling my 85. I'm parting out my 85 if theres something you might need just ask. Good luck. -
Did that on my 85 3 years ago chasing a guy on an FJR1300. But not intentionally. went into the corner too fast and wasn't looking into the corner as I've been trained. had to make a couple of hard corrections and touched down hard parts twice. My brother who was following me thought I was showing off.

New Member... Looking at '86 Royale Tomorrow and Need Advice
PBJ replied to C4pt4inMatt's topic in Watering Hole
I just bought an 86 with a lot of extra's like fog lamps, driver floor boards. Everything worked but it did need the calipers cleaned and new pads front and back . It only had 35k on it and I only paid $2500.00. So mine has half the mileage and was a thousand dollars less. Not sure if that helps but that's what i paid and this is my second venture. My first was an 85 and paid $1800. for that. It was a little rough but still hadn't developed the second gear problem. Anyway I'm happy with my 86 and the price i paid for it. -
