Was your's the Venom X? I believe there was anohter Venom that did not wear as well. OR Was the thread showing because you Wrecked???
-
I have 15k miles on mine, but everyones wear is so different. If you are concerend at all I say replace it. Its an easy peace of mind. I'm having my new tire installed Tuesday.

Agree with what's being said. My shock has crapped out on my 2003 and am waiting on the new one to get in. That being said the wife and I rode 300 mile on Friday over some pretty bad IL roads and never once bottomed out. Bumps felt hard, but not a bottom out feeling. Do you know whether the bike was lowered prior to you getting it? Maybe its starting out lower than ours
-
You're truly talented. Looks like it will work great.
-
You never know it depends on the dealer. My dealers service manager showed me the tech bulliten showing the upgraded shock, so maybe

Rode the bike up to my dealer and they can't get me in to fix the shock until 8/7. It did seem a little rougher riding, but really not bad. He said it would keep getting worse though. So looks like I'm going to have to cancel a few rides :crying:till I get it fixed.

Thanks all for the replys. Glad to know its covered. Figured it was. I was wondering if the next one would be too and it looks like it would be. Going to take it in today. Jay

Ok. It finally happened. My rear shock has left a 8 inch circle of light oil stain on the garage floor. Even can see a drop hanging on the bottom of the shock. Here are my questions: 1) Does this mean my shock has failed? 2) Can it still be ridden? 1 up? 2 up? 3) Is replacement covered under warranty? Thanks to all those that can help answer my questions. Jay

I did the marshall with a few minor differences. I really like the new Antenna's look and performance appears fine. I did everything for around $50 with parts from a local truck stop.
-
That would work. I will be here all day. I have Metric Ball end T-Handle allens and metric socets and of course Hammers and pliers. Give me a call with a time. Jay

What do you do if you don't have a torque wrench when reinstalling the clutch new parts? Can it be done without one?
-
Well The Clutch upgrade parts arrived. Just have to track to Marc now. Oh... Chaos...Where are you???

TT, My dad used to work for a welding supply store and got bottled Nitrogen for free that we used in all our tires 20years ago. Its true they don't heat up near as much with Nitrogen. He used to say though that as soon as you added regular air you lost all the benefit of the Nitrogen, unless you then emptied and refilled. Is that true? Jay

I'll give you a call if it comes in Friday If not next weekend would work. You can pick the day and I'll work with your schedule. Just give me time to get the steer butchered
-
With the way it sounds like your lucks going I don't know if you should leave the house or answer the phone!
-
Not a problem. Looks like the parts won't get here till 1st of the week. Name the day I should have the grill going!
-
Well, after getting everyone's urging I called PCW and ordered the parts to upgrade my 03 RSV Clutch. $168 plus change. All I can say is WOW PCW was great to work with on the ordering. Really make you feel like you are their most important customer. Something that seems to be really lacking from most companies now. They are shipping today and I might have them by Friday. If so, I am going to try to do it on Saturday or Sunday. If not it will be next week. I am very apprehensive about doing the upgrade, even with Tartan Terror's great article. I live under the cloud of Murphy's Law. I have learned to live with it . I wonder how big a Steak and how many beers it would take to get Chaos to come over and help me out?? PCW said I could call them along the way too, so maybe it will work out OK. We are going on our Annual Weekend get-away with another couple to Southern MO around Steelville on 7/6, so I want it done before then. Everyone keep their fingers crossed and stay close to your cell phones TT, Chaos and Freebird!! Jay

Are you giving it time for the fuel pump to fill the bowls. That clicking sound when you turn the key on and put the shutoff switch to on is filling the carb bowls. When it stops go ahead and start it. Don't touch the throttle till it starts.

What's even better and takes up less space is the Plegde Wipes. They come in a Zip Lock package. Takes the bugs off and helps the next wave of bug suicides not stick so bad.
-
Quite a few here have. There is the Yamaha ones, which I really don't care for and then there are some HD ones, that I think look alot better. Look at the bottom of this thread and there should be links to related topics, which probably have some pictures.

Stickers really stuck!
RoadKill replied to a1bummer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ditto. Worked well. I use the same thing to get Dealer stickers off of our Vehicles. I figure they got my money, don't need me to advertise for them too. Anyway, since I started riding again:biker: , I am so obsessed with keeping the Bike shining:dancefool: that I hardly ever wash our vehicles, so they probably don't want my advertisment -
I'll be interested in the replies on this one too. Never got around to asking, but have thought about it a couple times. I have just a couple little chips I would like to fill in.

Fuel reserve question
RoadKill replied to TheBreeze's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
This is why I never switch to reserve anymore. Almost had this happen once. Now I fill up at about 1/4 Tank. -
I took awhile to post, because I really do not know what to say. I cannot imagine what you must be feeling. All I can say is that I am praying for you and your family.
