Advice on installation 3 Pouch Windshield Bag
RoadKill replied to Color01's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
How much did that run you? AND Any pics? -
When you get it all done you need to paint it Rasberry and Beach Sand Tan. Then just ride it up and drop it off at my place.
-
I thought it had to be a 7 ft wide. After I responded the first time, I noticed it did not have a front door. I would think that would make it hard to get to the front, but I still haven't ruled it out. Do you think a side door could be put in? Easily?

You've got my interest. I would be interested in what kind of mileage you get also and the actual trailer dimensions. I have almost decided to just get a 6x12 enclosed and not worry about being able to haul two bikes. My friend says he would probably not be able to get away that long for several years anyway. Here's a pic of the new 6x12 I think I've settled on $3750. Just have to talk the wife into it.

Now your talkin my language! -
Someone forcing you to live there?
-
No issue if you don't break the LAW! Of course you could always move back to the United States out of Cook County

I agree. Rat him out here. I live in IL and I don't want to run across this guy and not be able to give him an earful

driver's power plug
RoadKill replied to pegscraper's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Are you referring to the CB/Intercom connection? If so, some have routed under the tank to behind/beside the seat, left side and some on the handlebars. I have mine on the bars now, but thinking about moving it to the tuxedo tie or the black cover around the gas cap. Its on my list of things to do before riding season officially gets started again. -
electra glide mufflers
RoadKill replied to adventurer 08's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree they should work also. Any pipe from the HD touring bikes. I have slash cuts off a Road Glide on my 2003. -
I've been there a few times, but didn't see any of those trailers. I hear they are pretty pricey though I think everyone pretty much has me convinced to go the open route. I'll let you know if I make any moves. Jay

Sounds like you have learned your lesson so that shouldn't be a problem

Thanks for the input. I think towing power is probably my deciding factor. I have a 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada AWD. Towing capacity stated in the manual is 5500 lbs, which seems like it should pull an enclosed. However I know that an open trailer will pull easier and probably be a little more versatile for what I think I will use one for. Here in Springfield, IL we an an Aluma dealer and I like the look of their open trailers. I talked to them yesterday and they shot me what I feel to be a pretty good price for the 2 place trailer AND a trailer to tow behind my motorcycle, all for $3800 plus tax. Here is a link to the one for behind the MC http://www.alumaklm.com/sections/products/template_new.php?product_id=9&product_category=2 and you can find the 2 place under products, Motorcyle trailers. What do you think?
-
Could you find out what brand that is and let me know? Thanks,
-
That's almost the price of the enclosed I've looked at too. Looks nice though
-
Same things I think. Also, If I had too, I could sleep in an enclosed a little better than on an open :rotf:Price is a factor as always. Wonder how small you could get buy with to hold 2 touring bikes. Do you think you could do it with a 6x12 and the bikes staggered?
-
I am thinking of getting a trailer that will haul two touring bikes. I lean towards an enclosed just because I don't like it being out in the elements and flying road debris if I'm not riding it. The trailer will also probably be used to haul the occaisional lumber or landscaping material. Could I get some opinions on Enclosed vs. Open, I should say it will only be used for the bike to get away in the winter or a longer trip to satisfy the wife. Does a stone guard really help protect the bike on the open trailers. If my wife had her way and we could afford it we would get a trailer with some type of sleeping quarters. She says we could use it for family camping even if we didn't take the bike. My thought on that is it would be rather large to head to Home Depot for lumber and I can only pull up to 5900 lbs with my SUV Any opinions/things to think about appreciated.

Yes, it will fit, but you might have to tweak the parts that attach to the license bracket slightly. That's the one I had on my 05 RSTD. Much better profile than the ones made that fit on the RSTD backrest. I got mine from the dealer. I would check there first. Jay

Installed Barnett Clutch, have problem
RoadKill replied to Sleeperhawk's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine did the same thing when we put it back together. If I remember correctly we had the things alinged incorrectly. Once that was corrected it worked perfect. Check this before you bleed the clutch. -
My better half said the same thing. "Nice to see you are getting smarter and not trying to do everything by yourself" How about you and Lonna? Feeling better I hope.
-
I didn't do quite that much. I held the lug nuts :rotf:and put the flat in the back of my SUV. The hardest time we had was trying to get the spare lowered. Had to insert the jack handles through a hole and crank it down
-
Well yesterday was fun, NOT! Heard what sounded like I hit something then 10 miles later when I stopped for gas went around to check and left front flat as could be. Did something I have never done. Called someone to change it. Figured I have paid for 30 years, might as well let my insurance pay. I felt so guilty I ended up helping. At least it was a full size brand new spare. Was able to have the tire plugged, and my mechanic says it was in a good spot so should last.

I think alot of those may be SHARING sites, which means you may open yourself and computer up. I'm not really sure, but that's what I kept running across when I was searching it out a while back,

Well said my friend. Delete any posts that vaguely references it. May also suggest that we ALL remove any and all references to canidates in our signatures. I saw one, don't even remember who it was and it doesn't matter. My first thought was "Well, I'll add my canidate to my sign", even did it. Then I thought, no this is not the place and took it off. Just my 2 cents. Way to go Don. This is a Motorcycle site and a Friendship site. Politics doesn't belong with either.
