  1. Well it's time for our annual couples trip, best friend and his wife and us. This year we have rented a house outside Ferryville, Wisconsin. I've heard there are nice roads in almost any direction you head out. Also looks like its going to be some HOT weather. Anyone from that area recommend any particualr rides or places to visit? Thanks, Jay
  2. And here I was thinking you were the one exception. Hope you didn't break the camera.
  3. The fairing is not that hard. I think all you would need to remove is the front. In our Tech section their is a good article showing exactly how. Think its under AUX splliter install. Even I did it, so it has to be easy
  4. Just my opinion, but I bet the mufflers don't change the popping. Sounds more like a carb issue. I drilled my stocks out several times till they were really drilled big time and each time never had any popping. I still have my AIS. Now I have RoadGlide pipes fully drilled, still no popping.
  5. Here they are with the clamps http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Motorcycle-Parts-Accessories__YAMAHA-ROYAL-STAR-VENTURE-TOUR-DELUXE-HD-EXHAUST-KIT_W0QQitemZ230265544657QQadnZMotorcycleQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadiZ2863QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item230265544657&_trksid=p3756.m14.l1318
  6. Some on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Motorcycle-Parts-Accessories__YAMAHA-ROYAL-STAR-VENTURE-EXHAUST-MOUNTING-PLATES_W0QQitemZ230266150279QQadnZMotorcycleQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadiZ2863QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item230266150279&_trksid=p3756.m14.l1318 and a while back I saw a set on ebay with the clamps also. Jay
  7. I use a gallon, freezer zip-lock bag. rolls up small and doesn't take up much space. I be that was nasty Especially if it was a cotton rag. Some of the micro synthetics don't mildew as bad.
  8. For the brackets check out the classifieds. Squidley makes and sells them.
  9. Hmmmm??? You mentioned trunk and bags in your other post. Do they already make those? Maybe I should just go for the 4 wheel wing:biker:
  10. What are they getting for those things? I like them also, might have to put that on my consideration list if I don't like the new RSV, if they come out with one, in 2010. Also on the list, Goldwing & Victory. Later.
  11. I got a Blem also and love mine, still haven't found the blems they told me where they were even.
  12. Suggestions are just that..........Suggestions! All considered, not all implemented. At least here they get considered, at my house they aren't even encouraged.
  13. Yeah but we ALL know YOU ARE A TROUBLE MAKER, YOU OLD SNARLY FART!
  14. I understand your feelings and I both agree and disagree. Wow, see you are right we can do that I think the main issue is that we have always tried keep away from the hot topics like Politics, religion, etc... That being said I was guilty of going "Political" on the threads in question here , as I'm sure others were too. Sometimes hard not too, when it pushes a hot button as this one happens to for me. I'm glad we have the policies in place to keep this a Motorcycle forum, it keeps me out of trouble and their are a world of other places we can vent. Funny thing is I never voice my "true" feelings about many things in a face to face setting, but with the relative anonominity of posting, I get a little carried away. Thanks moderators! I commend you and keep up the good work.
  15. Don't think there is anything for the lock, seen some fillers for the hinges though. I would suggest ebay for your sale items. Jay
  16. Sorry if I stepped on your toes, really didn't mean to. Just wanted to be clear when we make these MPG comparisons. As far as the Zumo I don't have one and wouldn't pay for one. I use a refurbished Garmin Nuvi 650, that I got on ebay for 199 shipped. Only thing you have to do is not leave it in the rain. Again sorry.
  17. WHICH ARE BOTH OFF BY 7%, which will inflate your MPG calculations due to the inaccurate inflation of the numerator of the MPG equation!
  18. I am exactly 1 mile from the Interstate I take to work and its 60 miles to work. Just for kicks I filled up and headed to work one morning. No wind and cruise set at GPS 68 MPH or Speedometer 75MPH. I get 38.5 consistently 1 up and 35 two up. I have got 50 1 up on two lanes at 62MPH/GPS, but that was with a tailwind. All our gas in IL is Ethanol 10% too. Really I don't care much about what I get for MPG it is just something to think about. I would ride this bike no matter what I was getting. Its alot better than the 19MPG on my '04 Olds AWD Bravada. Jay
  19. So Cool Gene. I wish I had 1/2 of the talent you have. Jay
  20. Ok, just went out and checked. The jacket Armour is removable. I took that back pad out and that may solve my problem. I'll give it a try later today. Thanks for all the suggestions. Jay
  21. Been telling the mistress of finance that for 2 years so I will tell you say so too! :rotf:I'm sure that will make the difference. So far I've only found that the knee armour on the pants is truly removeable, but really haven't had time to look alot.
  22. I was in a Parade with a bike once and IT SUCKED!! Slow, slow moving...Overheating, me and the bike even with water cooled. I thought I would surely burn the bike up. Also my clutch hand hurt for a week from all the clutch feathering at those ultra slow speeds. Literally I spent most of the 4 mile parade route walking the bike along. I'm all for advertising our group, but I will never be in a parade again:2133:
  23. I went to a Corbin Seat on my 03 and love it. It sets you a little lower and is made in such a way that you set in the seat, not on it. It also provides some back support. Not cheap, but personally I will never have anything but a Corbin. Jay
  24. Well so far its been great. I put it on before I walked to the bike leaving work yesterday and I was actually chilled from the air passing through. Then on the trip to my Mom's from work I was extremely comfortable. Didn't have the pants on, just the jacket. Thinking of wearing the pants over shorts on those really hot days. I'm sure at 90+ and 90% humidity you will still be hot. But I think I'm going to like it alot!
  25. I just received, a couple days ago my purchase from New Enough. I bought the Venture Air Mesh pants and Intake Air Series 2 Jacket. I am very pleased with New Enough's prices and shipping. Ordered it on Friday morning, got it on Tuesday. Also very pleased with my selection. Both jacket and pants have windproof/waterproof layer and a quilted insulated liner, as well as multiple sections of Armor and padding. The liners can be utilized together or seperately in any configuration or they can we worn without any liners. Its really working well for me as I can wear the liners when I leave at 3:30am for work, 55 degrees and then ride home with just the mesh when its reached 80+. If I had any complaint I guess it would be that the items do not store very compactly. I have to take the jacket in because it won't compress down small enough to fit in the bags or trunk along with the other things I carry. This wasn't a problem with my leathers. It seems to be the Armor that is causing the issue. So here is my question: Does the Armor really add significant protection or could you take it out? Thanks for the info/opinions in advance. Jay
