That's great to hear. Now be kind to that young body of yours.

Bob, I'm sorry to hear you went thru such a fall and painful recovery. I hope each day you continue to notice a great improvement and will be back to normal any day now. Be safe and God Bless.
-
Congratulations Tom, you made it, well a few more weeks. All the best to you and Taters. Life is just beginning you lucky dog.

Great news Don, thanks once again for planning this great event. Always lots of fun and learning for me since I'm not a wrench.

Ben, six years hard to believe. Once again I will not be able to make this great gathering. We going skiing for the week on Jan 6th. I wish you all a great day and evening.
-
Bob, I hope you where able to get things fixed up so you can still enjoy before the winter weather does set in to stay.

Glad you made it home safe with that tire. I'm sure your mind and senses where as sharp as they could be for that ride home. It must have been nerve racking.

My riding season.....as well as mu hunting season, are over.
dogman replied to ReinyRooster's topic in Watering Hole
Reiny you will be in my prayers for a full recovery. Lots of physio and exercise to come. Others have said they feel better then they had in years. I hope this applies to you when you are fully recovered. All the best young man. -
Carl, we also have a few things to do and can't spare that much time away for a lengthy ride. If you are close feel free to drop in or text/call to see when we will be in or out

Someone tried to steal parts off my bike again.....$#%#??#
dogman replied to Bert2006's topic in Watering Hole
That is shocking to hear, and I'm sure even more so for you to experience it in person. I'm glad you vented. Depending on the area I park my bike I like to be able to keep an eye on it, but truly one never knows when a scrotbag like that will show up and quickly take what they want. Unbelievable that you where right there at the gas station and it didn't deter him in the least. I think he was very lucky that you gave him the verbal warning of your helmet striking him. I wouldn't have gave him that chance. I'm glad it all worked out for you without you losing any parts and hopefully driving the message home to this goof ball. -
80's theme that would be good too. Great music and I still have my denim vest and jean jacket much to my wife's desire for me to get rid of them.

This is great news that Don is well enough to travel and you are taking charge of the driving. Very impressive. I'm proud of you. Be safe and have fun. -
Welcome home John. It was great to meet you at MD. I'm sorry to hear about your spill. Very glad to hear you didn't get hurt much. The distance you rode in one summer is longer then some ride in a life time.

Gas Issue Guage misleading reading
dogman replied to Statussymbol's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree with Bongobob. The counting up when you go on reserve is to let you know how far you have travelled since being warned that you are on low fuel/reserve. I really like this feature, but it was also new to me when I got this bike and I had to adjust to it. -
Very nice pics. I hope to make in next year or the year after.

Prayers sent your way. A new experience if you do have to drive your big rig. With an open mind and taking it slow, you will do well. -
Jeff, I hope it doesn't come to that for you because of others neglect, carelessness, or dangerous driving habits. You would see how bad the problem is more than most of us.

I hope this great weather and heat holds up for your Rally. I'm on my final days of holidays and back to work Monday. I am working that weekend, but at the very least want to ride down Friday evening or Saturday evening and return the same night. Sorry I can't decide which day yet as I would like to be able to take a day off at work to stay longer, but won't know until I get back to work and see how many others are off.

We just got back from our trip of 3629 miles (my fellow Canucks 5840kms) bike trip to the Maritimes. It was suppose to be further and another week but we decided to come back home early to be with our boys. The point of the thread is my riding lane position on the road. I would generally be in the left of the centre part of the lane as most of you do to make yourself as big as possible to own that lane. Now I find myself out of necessity/survival to be moving over to the right side of the centre of the lane. The reason for this was on a two lane highway 80kms/h 50mph (one lane each direction) I literally saw hundreds of drivers going the other direction and looking down at their phone. They never saw me, in fact the survival part of it was that dozens and dozens of them came over the yellow line, into my lane and still never saw me. Some did and swerved back, but many did not. I quickly began to move to the right with on coming traffic then move back and this proved to be a very safe practice as many times cars crossed the line which would have made me take evasive action. The same thing was happening on the 4 lane highways (2 lanes each direction divided or not) As I was in the inside lane and cars would pass me and again seeing them on their phones texting, not talking on them. Many would wander into the right lane without them realizing. As a result of a few concerning moments of me having to move over from getting side swiped, I would begin to move to the right side of my lane when I saw a car about to pass me. When I was riding in the left lane (passing lane) I use to be in the right side of the middle part of the lane, but again the drivers in the right lane on their phones wandered over into my lane making me move over to the left part of my lane, so I again made it a habit of being on the left side of my lane when passing. I always said and practice in my riding that the other drivers are out to get you on the bike, so it was a quick and easy adjustment to make as it was happening so often. And not just to me on the bike, but I saw lots of cars that got cut off and pushed onto the shoulder because other cars came into their lane. My next group ride I will have to talk to the ride captain and the person who is right behind me, because if I see the driver with his/her head down, I am moving over a little. Nearly 35 years of riding and in all those years combined I have never seen so many people crossing over lines into other lanes. It is an epidemic out there. Be safe everyone and of course have fun.

Are Motorcycles allowed to travel in the Car Pool Lane?
dogman replied to VanRiver's topic in Watering Hole
Yes in Toronto motorcycles are allowed in the diamond lanes, but not with that many people on the bike. We did see families like that in China last year on their bike -
A huge thank you goes out to Bert2006, who just came out to us with some WD40 and synthetic grease and it is moving better then when it was new. He is also going to ride with us tomorrow morning and show us a nice scenic route. Ventureriders and this forum really is amazing because of the high quality people. Thank you Hubert.

An interesting day of riding today. We are in Fredricton at a motel (long day) and my kick stand won't go down. It wouldn't budge even when I stood on it. I got some help from a gentleman in the parking lot and we where able to pry it out and down. I was on a lot of dirt and gravel roads yesterday going around the Cabot Trail if that has something to do with it. Any suggestions of what I could do to get some miles behind us in the morning before we stop in at a shop in another city to get it looked at? Thanks for any suggestions

Thanks we ate a lot of seafood during our week on the island. Just finished the Cabot Trail but still on Cape Breton at a great camp site. We both decided to cut our trip short and will be heading back to Ontario tomorrow via the fastest route along the Trans Canada highway. Planning on a two day ride as we are only just over 2000kms from home

Hahaha, you are not far off Puc. We had a few lobster feeds on PEI along with 30 lbs of muscles. We made two lobster sandwiches for yesterday's ride leaving the island and making our way to Nova Scotia to do the Cabot Trail.

We just arrived in Nova Scotia last night, so we may take a look at this route on our way back. Would that be before or after The Bay of Fundy?
