  1. We will be spending several days with friends in Bowerston, Ohio this spring. They don't ride so they don't know what kind of roads to look for from Bikers. Since I ride a Venture and not a Crotch Rocket, I am looking for midly curvy roads to 'cruise' on, NOT race. Also, any local sights or places of interest. While our friends are at work, we planned on cruising the local area, 'sight seeing'. When we were visiting them last year, we learned of a couple of customs that were different from ours here in Omaha, Ne. - They like vinager on their French Fires, and have something like 'Hot Bacon dressing' for their salads!! BOTH of these really surprised us and we LOVED them. So, while we are out sight seeing, I would like to find some local places to eat that are either differrent or just plain ole VERY good food. We are getting tired of eating at 'Applebees' or other chains everytime we go out of town. So, I thought some of you folks might have favorite places you could point us to. Any suggestions are appreciated, craigr
  2. It never got to the lien part. It appears that the problem was the Project Leader. I consider the matter closed. Craigr
  3. Well, I got another call from the OWNER of the company today and he said he will have a load of dirt delivered this Wed. And will have the ruts leveled. I told him not to worry about the grass seed, (it's winter here). He said he will also fill a low spot in my dirt driveway while they are here! It looks like it is the Project Manager that is the problem. The owner appears to be a stand up guy. Thanks for all of the responses, you folks are great! Craig
  4. Perhaps I'm not being clear, let me try to be clearer... We have 4 lots. The house and Garage sit on 2 of those lots with a driveway in front of the garage of course, the garage. Towards the very back of it's lot. So the truck simply had to pull in the driveway, up to the garage and his boom would probably reached both bldgs without moving. But what the driver chose was to pull perpendicular to the driveway, and loaded both roofs from there. When finished, he drove out into the other two lots, around a Fruit tree which is 100ft from the driveway, then back into the driveway and out the gate. I believe he did this so he wouldn't have to back up to get out of the fenced yard. BTW, the Owner of the Company showed up today with the Project leader that was doing the denying. He was very non-committal, but agrees that the delivery truck obviously did the damage. He told me that he will get the supplier with the driver out here to look at it. THIS guy was very nice and said he wants to get this straightened out. So, we will see. BTW, I am VERY surprised at how many of you say to let it go! But, I did ask for opinions and I thank you for yours. Craig
  5. We hired a Contractor to replace a Roof and siding due to Hail Damage. They did a wonderful job on the roofing but the truck that delivered the roofing left large ruts in our lot. When I mentioned this to our contractor he says that his guys are denying doing it. And that he has no idea how it happened. Of course I took pics and sent them to him stating that they are not allowed on my property again until this is fixed and if it is not fixed by Feb 1st, I am severing my contract with him. I will pay him only the remainder of what is owed for the roofing, minus what I have to pay to have the damage repaired. CAN I sever the contract for this?
  6. Thanks again for all of the replies. I'm going to watch it now. NetFlix is great! I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!
  7. Darnd if I can't find which season & episode it was. I guess I will click thru the ds9 list to find it. Thanks for the quick replies.
  8. Though I didn't care much for DS9, I did catch a few of the shows. The DS9 sounds right. I have been watching Star Trek on Net Flicks for the last couple of Months - TNG. Now that I have completed that on, I am starting on the original series. I will have to jump ahead and track down that DS9 episode. Thanks, Craigr
  9. To any of you Trekies out there... In which series / episode did they go back to the original series - actually use OLD footage and insert themselves into the film to do whatever it was they were going to do? I just remember thinking how well they did it. Craigr
  10. We are in Indy with Friends until Monday. We are supposed to do a Charity Ride in the Morning. If any of you are doing the ride, my wife and I are on a Blue & Black 07 Venture. Stop by & say Hi. Craigr
  11. Wow!! I can't believe that I forgot to plug this site!! Sooo sorry folks! If you couldn't tell, I was very nervous, didn't know how to answer or what to say. I didn't want run off at the mouth or step on toes or offend anyone. I'm not an expert at anything and didn't want to try to B.S. my way thru it. - It is what it is and I would do it again if I ever get the chance. AND, I would definitely mention THIS SITE. Craigr
  12. I just now checked out the site and it is under 'Morning Show' not Coffee Hour, sorry.
  13. My wife and I were interviewed about M/C Touring and riding in general on this past Monday and Tuesday Morning Coffee hour show on BNNS Radio! My uncle runs the Station out of Belevidere, Ill. We went to visit him and he put my wife and I on the air. His co-host, 'BigD' out of Kenesaw, Ga, rides also as well as another Co-Host, Bruce. He asked what kind of bike we have then asked to describe it and why we ride, etc. It was quite an experience and I highly recommend it to anyone that gets a chance. If you are interested in our interviews and want to check them out, they should be in the Archived shows under 'Coffee Hour' at BNNSRadio.com. (each show is 2 hours). Both shows talk a lot about riding, but include other topics as well. I haven't listened to them yet. If you do check them out, let me know what you think - good or bad. Craigr
  14. Done and Done. I can't hardly believe they should shrink shrink on an 07!! But, apparently they have. Warranty will be fixing that this winter! Now that I know what the heck that thing is, (I suspect a Frost plug, right?), I plan to take the bike on the trip after all. Even if it does start seeping again, I can't believe it's going to lose much. I'll just check the bottle each morning. I couldn't find that darn thing in the service manual. Thanks for the quick answer and Peace of Mind. Craigr
  15. Help!!! I am supposed to be taking a long trip starting tomorrow and my 07 is leaking Antifreeze. There are a couple small drips coming from the rear finned cylinder cover on the left side. I removed the cover and found where it appears to be coming from. But I have no clue what it is. It appears to be a 4th screw hole towards the bottom of the cylinder. I guess it could've blown from somewhere else, but it sure doesn't look like it. - There are no other Antifreeze trails except below it. Have any of you seen this before or have any ideas what is going on? Craigr
  16. The only advantage I can see would be if one would put an enclosed container of some type on it that has WHEELS. This way, when you get to a Hotel, you could just wheel everything into the Hotel room - not having to unpack then repack in the morning. craigr
  17. Wow, I started reading the comments section on KETV.com and people are really worked up over this. Everything from he is an idiot, to even his Mom is an idiot for defending him. craigr
  18. My wife and I have looked at HDs also, but the biggest thing for us is the lack of rider space. We both weigh around 200 lbs. and she has plenty of room on our Venture. On the HDs, she is right up against me. We have see larger people than us on HDs. I don't know how they do it. craigr
  19. What is WNY? Western NY? If so, it looks like we will have to wait until Next Year. (Unless the Corp gets it wrong AGAIN). I look forward to meeting you next year! - Good Lord willing and the Creek...... Uh, River don't rise. Craig
  20. When I told my wife about no vacation this year, she asked if we could sneak away to Indianapolis mid September. The river should be low enough for us not to worry about our house flooding. So, being it's that late in the year, how far North can we go and still have reasonable weather? - Not below 55 to 60 degrees. She wants to leave Indianapolis and hit Niagra, then Northern Michigan across to North Dakota, then south to Omaha. Will it be too cold to go that far North? Craig
  21. Just wanted to vent.... My wife and I had planned a Vacation this year after not taking one for a couple of years due to having TWO Weddings to pay for. Well THIS year we have the money and planned a two week trip. I had posted questions about it on here a couple of times. We had planned on heading to Indianapolis for a Charity Ride with Friends, then head to Niagra Falls for the night. Then we were going to take suggestions from this site and cross into Canada and follow the highway along the lakes. We planned to hit Maine and the rest of the northeastern states, working our way down to D.C.. From there, start heading west, back to Ohio to meet up with a good friend that has made me some White Lightning. he offered to put us up a few nights while we party & he shows me how to make the stuff. Once we left his place, we were to head home to Omaha. This trip would've left us only a few States left on our map. BUT.... The Army Corp of Engineers and Mother Nature couldn't come to an agreement this year and my home has been only a few feet from flooding since the beginning of June.I just heard yesterday that the Missouri River isn't planned to be back into it's banks until the end of September or October. - We don't want to be on the east coast if / when the Levy breaks. So, it looks like no Vacation again this year. That being said, if losing my Vacation is the worse that happens too me this year, I will still feel blessed. There are MANY people that have lost everything due to this flooding. Because of the MONTHS of the flooding, there is a lot of farmland that will take many years, if ever, to recover. Craigr
  22. If you are riding in a State that does not require you to where a Helmet, how often do you wear yours? Before anyone gives me the rant about how stupid it is to ride without one, I know it is unsafe and unwise. We wear ours unless it is uncomfortably warm with it on. We LOVE the free feeling without them. It's also safer to wear full face, but we choose the half helmets because we don't like the enclosed feeling of the full face. We don't see very many riders with helmets on when it is warm out - except for those on the Crotch Rockets. They are usually in full face and full leathers &/or body armor, even when it is 100 degrees!! I don't know how they do it. craigr
  23. Are any of you going to the Baseball College World Series in Omaha this year? craigr
  24. WOW!! That looks Sweeeet! I have the Blue/Black Venture also and a Black Bushtec Roadstar that I planned to keep Black. I think you have just convinced me to spend the money and get it painted similar to yours. Even my wife really likes it. craigr
  25. I have an 07 Blue / Black Venture. We often ride with my Sister & Brother in law. They have an 08 Anniversary HD Road King - a very nice looking bike. Ever since we bought our bike in 08, when we are with them, THEY get complimented on their bike. How 'nice' it looks. Seldom if ever did anyone say anything about our Venture. This became a running joke between them and my wife and I. So late last Fall, I had wide whitewall tires put on my bike. We have had the bike out 4 times so far this year and 3 of those times, we were complimented on how nice our bike looks. Those 3 times, we were with my Sis & Brother in law! My wife couldn't figure out what made this year different from the past years, then it hit us - it HAS to be the whitewalls. I love the look and hopefully will never have to go back to Blackwalls. There isn't a large variety of brands to choose from and I'm guess that as this model gets older, the choices will get fewer. craigr
