  1. We did a trip from Nebraska to N. Carolina last year and missed just a couple of states, Florida being one of them. So, now we have to make another trip down that way to pick those states up. I think it would be neat to take the LONG bridges out to the keys. We have 4 years left on our warranty, we need to get all 49 of the states in before the warranty runs out. craigr
  2. I heard them for the first time yesterday and figured that I just HAVE to have them. - Then I saw how much they want for them. WOW!! I guess I'll have to sell some food stamps, polish some shoes, mow some yards, shovel some snow, etc... and maybe I can get a set next year. They sure sound nice!! Hey, my birthday is 7-10, (just in case anyone wants to buy them for me). craigr
  3. Now wait just one HECK OF A MINUTE!!!! When I asked about whitewalls on this and other boards, everyone told me not to get them - 'they are too much work to keep clean'. Now that I bought Blackwalls, suddenly there are all kinds of advice on what to get!! craigr
  4. Thanks for the quick reply and the link. WOW!!! Those aren't cheap! I think they sound nice but not $400 worth!! I'm thinking of trading my Venture in the next year or so, I can't see adding that much to the bike if I'm going to get rid of her. I figured maybe a couple hundred, tops. craigr
  5. I stopped at a dealer today and was talking about how my Venture sounds like a sewing machine and that I miss the 'Potato, Potato' sound of my V-Twin. He took me to his Venture and turned it on - It sounded great! He said they were slip-on mufflers, something like BUB...???? He couldn't remember the name of them. Do any of you have any idea what ones he is talking about? craigr
  6. Well, I FINALLY got to see the new Voyager today. The bike shop I got my Venture from last year, approx 30miles away, has 2 of them. He has the Blue and the Silver. They are very pretty bikes. Then, I sat on one. I thought the seat was hard, and as mentioned in a couple of other threads, the bodywork plastic looked and felt cheap. It really looked like I took my old 1500 Classic and bought the fairing & bags from a bargain bin and painted them up. They looked like add-ons. The wing and the Venture and the HDs look like everthing was designed as one. Everything looks like you wouldn't use it on another bike. The Voyager stuff looks like you could remove it and add it to almost any non-bagger. I was very disappointed - and I have been bugging the local dealers about getting one since January. I'm thinking I will just have to wear mine out. Hopefully the new Venture will be much better. But I have a feeling they will go to the V-Twin - Either drop the V-4 or make a V-Twin Bagger and call it something else. craigr
  7. You look like a nice couple. Posting pics is a good idea - put faces w/names. I will have to find a pic of my wife & I to post - just in case anyone is interested. craigr
  8. I used to buy nothing but Craftsman, Snap-on, etc... Then I discovered Harbor Freight. I really like their hand tools, wrenches, sockets, etc... But, that being said, I wouldn't try the torque wrenches, I will still pay for the over priced ones and have them calibrated. I don't torque everything, only the really important things, like head gaskets, oil pans, and such. I just don't want anything leaking. craigr
  9. My mother signed a new Cell Phone contract in June and died is September. When I went to the local Altell store to cancel her contract, with death certificate in hand, the guy at the store was upset with me about it. 'But this contract was just signed in June!!' I couldn't believe he was angry about me cancelling the contract! I was waiting for him to expect ME to carry it on. craigr
  10. Dog Gone it!! I wish I would have known about this sooner! I would LOVE to have seen this as it came thru Omaha. I will have to keep up with them on the web. Thanks for posting. craigr
  11. I guess I want one for the 'shock value' more than anything. Even thought about buying one of those imitation ones that I've seen on Lawn Mowers, etc... I would never put Nitros on any of my vehicles, I believe it is too much stress on a very expensive vehicle. I was just curious. craigr
  12. [ame= ] [/ame] Pretty impressive
  13. We will have to do that. My wife was jealous that she couldn't go yesterday, so that would be a good excuse for another Texas Roadhouse steak! It was a GREAT T-Bone, tender enough that I was able to cut it with my fork! I wasn't able to eat the entire meal, so I will be having the remainder for lunch today. Next time we go up there, I will post on here, hopefully you can join us. craigr
  14. We were at the Texas Roadhouse in Sioux City yesterday around 1400. Dog-gone I wish I'ld of known you folks were around. Hopefully we can meet up some other time. craigr
  15. While cruising down the road the other day, my wife asked - Will this bike, (our 07 Venture), pull the front wheel up like our last bike would, (a really built 75 Honda 750). I told her that I think bringing it up wouldn't be the issue, it would be more bringing it back down that might cause the problem. I know I have seen a video of a full dress HD being ridden quite a ways on the back wheel. A friend at work that owns an Interstate says that no way will these big bikes come up. Don't get me wrong, my wheelie days are long gone. I am just curious. craigr
  16. While crusing today, I had the same thought... Where would one go to look for info how to add it to a bike? craigr
  17. Wow!! I never thought of that happening. I like to ride with my feet on the highway pegs just right, so as the wind parachutes them out - to give me the coool air up my leg. Maybe I won't do that anymore. craigr
  18. Sounds like there were a few of us in your area Sunday. I rode from Omaha to Sioux City for a Steak. I would like to have ridden with you if I had seen this post in time. Have a great trip and make sure you stop by to see Crazy Horse. craigr
  19. Congrats!! She is a beauty!!
  20. We were given membership info today and I was interested. Though after reading this topic, I don't know. The problem with these 'brand' clubs is if you change brands. I belong to a Kawasaki Vulcan riding club, because I had a Vulcan. Now that I have a Venture, I usually don't mention that I belong to a Vulcan club. I always joke with the club that I have become 'the red-headed stepchild' & that I will ride in the back of the pack. I'm not going to wear a vest with a Vulcan patch on it, will on my Venture. Our club has quite a few people that have switched brands, but remained with the club. Some members have even talked about dropping the 'Vulcan' thing and changing it to a non-brand specific club. I know I would prefer that, and could even get a few more members, if it wasn't a 'Vulcan' club. We have looked at a few non-brand specific clubs, but most of them go from bar to bar, we are not big Bar people & prefer to ride. We are not much for alot of organization & rules, so I think I will skip the 'Star' club for now. craigr
  21. I bought the Stebil air horn & wiring kit last winter. I plan on putting it on this w/e. Where do I locate the Relay? - I mean the physical location, not electrically. craigr
  22. I don't know about you, but I came from a big V-Twin. I thought this engine was a little 'doggey' & said so on this & another board. Right away, I was told to keep the RPMs up, don't load it like you can a V-Twin. So I took her out and road it hard and OMG!!! It's like a race horse in the upper RPMs!! I seldom use top gear unless over 65ish. craigr
  23. Does the RSTD ride like the 2nd Gen Venture? Craigr
  24. I painted a few bikes in my younger years and always felt more 'adventurous' with the paint. Now that I am older and have much more money wrapped into my bike, I can't decide what I want on her. One of these days, I will come up with the courage to 'fancy mine up' also. I'm anxious to see how yours turns out. craigr
  25. Also, I believe I have heard / read that Winter Gas is a different mixture than Summer Gas.
