  1. I should know better than to say this but.... No one in their right mind would use a 'dirty' container for putting ANYTHING in their engine. That being said, I'm sure their are some that are never in their 'right mind'. craigr
  2. Though I do have a subscription, til October of next year, I may not renew. I also don't care for Billy's writing, though I can't put my finger on why, he just rubs me wrong I guess. The mag certainly has seemed to turned to a HD slant in the last year, but that may be because the HD is so darn popular, with sooo many models. They also seem to REALLY like the Victory machines, but after riding one a month or so ago, I can see why. I was pretty impressed with the short ride I took. I wonder how much their opinions are influenced by the Manufacturers. Do they have to worry about 'calling their kids ugly'? I mean the bikes are donated to the mag for reviews & such. What I DO like about the mag is all of the pics of bikes, write-ups on trips and the tech section. Zimmerman is great. - (Maybe I will renew.) I have looked at a couple of touring mags, but I didn't see anything that really stood out. And, touring bikes typically don't look as 'cool' as cruisers, which is why I like the 2nd Gen Venture's style. - More comfortable & looks cool. I hope the 3rd Gen Venture isn't styled like the Goldwing or BMW. craigr
  3. I finally got my MC Cruiser magazine, (long story), and was anxious to read their 'Tourers Shootout' article. They had the HD Electra Glide Ultra Edition, Kaw Voyager, Venture & the Victory Vision for the comparisons. I was sad to see that the only thing that really impressed them about the Venture was the engine! Granted it is an old model, but I was pretty disappointed in their opinion of it. - (I wonder if I am just being defensive because I like it so much.) They rated the Victory as the highest, but I just couldn't get past the styling and the Air Cooled engine. I looked at the Voyager when it first arrived at the dealer, but wasn't too impressed with it for some reason. I really thought the Venture would score higher. Have any of you read the article? What did you think of it? craigr
  4. As most are telling you, you definately have oil in there. You can flush it out and it may stay that way for a short while, but I would bet a doughnut that it will come back. I hope it is a fairly easy / cheap fix - though it wouldn't be if it were MY bike. craigr
  5. Well I only got the differential taken care of today. Momma and I stayed in bed til NOON! It was sooo nice not to get up early. By the time we went out for lunch and got back all I had time for was the differential. It gets dark early now. So, I'll have to wait til next w/e to do the rotors. Thanks for the info, craigr
  6. It's too bad those folks with those fancy garages and all of the fancy cars, don't spread some of those cars around to those of use that don't have anything that nice. craigr
  7. I have an 02 F150 4wd Lariat that has a leaking rear differential. I need the torqe for the bolts. And, the last time I changed the front calipers, I overtightend the lugs on one wheel and warped the rotor. So, I bought new rotors today and need the torque of the wheel lugs also. - I don't want to warp one again. Of course I didn't think about calling a dealer this morning to get them and don't want to wait until Monday if I don't have to. Can any of you help me out? craigr
  8. 48 with my lovely wife of 47. We've been married 27 years with Son of 30, daughter of 26 and another son of 23. I'm not 48 all of the time though. Today, while on the Interstate a HD Dyna passed us on the Intersate and rolled it on with its loud pipes, so I kicked my Blue 07 up a notch to catch up and check out his bike. When he saw me coming up, he rolled his up again but this time hard. So, I just HAD to catch him then. We got up to about 90ish by the time I was up to him and as I was checking out his bike, (smiling at him), he just shook his head at me. I told my wife that I had to show him that my big old tourer could take him. - Just the little boy in me. craigr
  9. What does one gain by doing this? craigr
  10. We went for a nice fall ride today and went thru Pisgah, IA where I saw a silver 2nd Gen along side the road. I couldn't stop, as we had a couple of other bikes with us and we were on our way to dinner. I'm just curious if it was someone on here. craigr
  11. You guys did a great job!! You could probably make some money doing this for folks that can't / wouldn't do it themself for whatever reason. This is quite and upgrade AND gets rid of the embarassing cassette deck in the process. craigr
  12. Having ridden the dragon last summer, (2 up), and really pushing my Venture. It scares the hell out of me to see these trucks on there. I had no idea they could run it! I will not run the dragon HARD again, which is sad, because I had soooo much fun doing it. craigr
  13. Paint it a different color and it would work for couples that don't like to be too close to each other when riding 2up. craigr
  14. I'm glad to see that I made THIS list. Let me know when to send payment. craigr
  15. Coming from a V-Twin myself, I found it hard to get used to 'winding her out'. Even after reading the suggestions on here several times. Then I did it on the Interstate passing someone and she felt like I was trying to hold a race horse back. It's very true what they are telling you, the bike LIKES the high revs!! It's hard to believe these big ole bikes can run like they do. craigr
  16. If it is like the Venture, you will need a GPS to find out. I buried the speedo on my 07 Venture (120mph), and had plenty of throttle left. This was 2up. Too fast for me. Though it was the smoothest bike I've been on at that speed. It sure didn't feel like I was going that fast. My wife had to point out to me that we had buried the needle. This was while 'testing' with an 08 Road King and an 05 Sportster. Neither could keep up with me. I won't be finding out top speed myself. - Before any of you say it, I know it wasn't a smart thing to do. But we all do stupid things sometimes. My wife and I are willing to take chances sometimes. craigr
  17. Probably a dumb question, but here goes anyway.... How do you get the bike UP the ramp? There is no way one would ride it up, and most of us aren't strong enough to push it up that kind of incline. craigr
  18. I have a coworker that owns a 98 Goldwing. I was telling him about how I got the shop manual for my Venture from here in .pdf form. He isn't Internet savy, so I told him I would check the net for one for his bike. Before I search the Web, do any of you Goldwing owners already have the .pdf Shop Manual for a 98 Goldwing? craigr
  19. If they are found guilty, then kill them both. They can't be 'fixed'. No one else should suffer because of them! They aren't worth the money it takes to keep them in prison. And they aren't worth the oxygen they are wasting. craigr
  20. We get people to apply for work, but they either aren't qualified or don't want to work once they are hired. What happed to all of the unemployed that want to work? craigr
  21. Okay, I've heard this expression MANY times. What movie did it come from? I think I have seen the movie, but don't remember which one. craigr
  22. You guys are scaring the hell out of me!! No, everytime I have a tinge of pain down there, I am going wonder if it is a stone coming on. craigr
  23. Yes, but did do you click on the screen to find it? craigr
  24. Okay, it's probably right in front of me, but I can't find anything that says 'merchandise'. I found the classifieds, but no 'merchandise' in there either. Where is it? craigr
  25. An Aunt of mine sent me these pics. I'm not sure where she got them, but the trike looks kinda cool. craigr
