I think I'll try the forks. Other than the dragging when cornering hard, are there any other drawbacks? I don't ride mine like a crotch rocket, so I'm thinking it won't be an issue for me. Craig

Thinking about the clutch.

Well, I just ordered the FULL Barnett kit for $300ish. I had it shipped 3days, so it looks like I will be replacing it this coming w/e. I will post how it goes and my opinion of the setup. Thanks for all of the replies, craigr -

Okay, it looks like I can't put this off any longer. I haven't read that any of you approached the dealer about this being covered by warranty, so I'm guessing that it isn't covered. I have decided to go with the Branett, but should I get just the spring kit or the plates kit also? Craigr -
Since my original post, my wife has brought up possibly going straight North from Omaha, NE into Canada, then working our way across diagonally towards Alaska. This way we get to see more than just the Western side. The other thing she mentioned is that she is worried about there not being a lot of roads to travel once we are up there. The map dosent show many. Are there alot of Paved roads? We don't do gravel / dirt. craigr

We'll see. I ordered some this morning. I will post my results. Craigr

This sounds kind of neat. I wish we knew about it before taking our East and West coast trips. Is it expensive? craigr

I'm glad to read that all is working out. After all of the bashing, I hope to see praise for his work, once you get everything. craigr -
Wow, I was amazed to read that he survived!! But, I was not surprised to read his age - 19 years old. craigr

The desert may be too hot to ride. We went thru Vegas last August early. When we left the Hotel at 1130, it was 114°F!! I thought I was going to die by the time we made it to Kingman, AZ. I had bad chest pains and was ready to drop. I can't imagine that our boys are over seas in full gear in that temperature. NEVER again for me. If I ever do Vegas in the Summer again, the only thing I would rent would be a cage with a good Air Conditioner!! That being said, if you do go out, the Dam is a must. Especially if they are going to close it to vehicles. Take the tour while you are there. craigr

Alright, how does one figure out if all four cylinders are firing if it runs okay on three? I had the plugs changed and carbs balanced and the plugs looked fine. My 07 RSV runs a lost as bad as he stated. I run 95% in 4th gear on the highways. I only use 5th if on flat ground and above 70mph. Craigr

I've again, been thinking about a m/c trip to Alaska. I figured on riding to Alaska, then shipping the bike back. - Is this cheating? I CAN take 4 weeks off work, but would rather take 3. Do you think a person could travel from Omaha to Washington, then up the coast to Alaska in 3 weeks? I haven't looked at a map yet to figure out the path. I have a cousin in N.E. Washington that I would like to stop and see for a day on the way up. craigr

That is really neat that you are doing this!! It makes me wish I had something to donate so I could copy you. craigr

Dog-gone-it, I can't use her weight as an excuse not to 'haul' her around.

NEVER use a compressor for the air shocks. You can blow them. I bought the hand pump from HD, it's small and can be carried with you. craigr

I wasn't really looking to find out how much they get, just better or worse. How abouts someone that has owned both?
-
Since they appear more aerodynamic, do the 1st Generations get better gas mileage than the 2nd Generations?
-
Speaking from experience, don't do the southwest in mid summer!! 114F was horrible! Another thing we regret is blowing thru. We missed sooo much. Craigr

I have a friend that wants me to take her for a ride on my Venture. She is a big girl. With me already weighing 200, how big can she be and not overload the bike?

While we were in a restaurant, a couple thought it would be cute to let their son climb on my bike for a photo op. - that is until the father seen me jump out of my seat from the window. After we finished eating, I approached the father to ask where he parked. Once he told me, I asked if he minded if I have my wife take a pic of me sitting on the hood of his car. It went kinda down hill from there.

Monte, I forgot to mention that I took four of those Ribs and sauce back to the Hotel and zapped them for breakfast the next day. They were awesome!! I wish we had that chain here in Omaha! They were much better than any I have had here.

We just got back home this afternoon, and I wanted to apologize to you for making such a scene. I'm touchy about my bike and have a quick temper. If they would have just apologized and left it at that, all would have been forgiven. As for the Hub, do you all do the Hub at the same time each year? The heat was horrible and I decided we will never do Branson in Summer again!! It is strictly Spring & Fall for us from now on.
-
KMonte, Im glad to have met you and your wife in Branson. We even thought about getting a room at the same place, so we could vist for a while, but opted.for one with an indoor pool. For the rest of you, we were just a few hours behind you at the Hub. Maybe we can do the Hub with all of you next year. We will be in Branson for one more night, then back to Omaha.- Its HOT down here!!.
-
It looks like we won't make the hub in time. But we decided to do Branson on Monday. we are going to stay at Baldknobbers and see the show if we can. The wife has to call them today to arrange it. We are going to try for some BBQ today if we can find some.

What is a 'Hub Meet'?

My wife and I are heading to Springfield, MO this next W/E. Does anyone know of a VERY GOOD BBQ place down there? I would like to try so real Southern BBQ, to see if it is any different from what we have in Omaha, NE. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well. We are hitting Branson for a day or two next week to check out the Baldknobbers also. I've never seen a stage show before and friends have told me that I will really enjoy that show. craigr
