  5. I have volunteered to handle the sale of memory patches for BongoBob. See photo below: If you would like to order one for your vest, they are going to be $4.00 each (shipping included). They will be available for a limited time only, last order date is September 7th. I will accept checks or Paypal. My Paypal is venturerider2012@gmail.com. Please include your screen name, actual name and a shipping address and quantity wanted. BTW, ignore the purple line in the photo, that is used for setup only of the sewing and will not appear on the patch. PM me with any questions. Jim Crane
  6. My wife and I would also like to offer our home for anyone traveling to Bob's funeral. We have a guest bedroom in our home with a queen bed and plenty of room for a RV or camper in our driveway, or a tent in our fenced in rear yard. You can come early and then attend the Rally in Arcade. We will be attending the funeral on Tuesday and then returning home to prepare to leave Thursday morning for the Rally. We are located about one and a half hours east of the Funeral home in Hamburg NY, in the western suburbs of Rochester, NY. You can PM me or text or call my cell to contact me: 585-747-7998. Jim Crane
  7. gaj1917: The cable can be replaced by removing the bushing cap on the front wheel sensor and the cable will easily pull out (and may actually fall out) and then can be replaced by feeding up from the front wheel sensor. The turn signal does not have to be removed unless you want to inspect the upper bushing connector for tightness where it connects to the back of the speedo. See Condor's comment in number 2 comment above. BTW, the bushing cap on the front wheel should be checked for tightness occasionally as it is known to vibrate loose and the cable falling out in the road and disappearing behind you at 65 MPH. Don't ask me how I know this! Jim
  8. Fabricated a bracket and mounted where the original horn was mounted. Jim
  9. Just an FYI for you, 40: My sensor has been missing the membrane and I have had no problems with moisture. Bike has been out in the rain since 2014 (but stored in the garage when home) and have no problems with electrical side of radio. (Knock on wood! LOL). YMMV. Jim
  10. The red thing is the battery electrolyte level sensor probe, it goes into the top of a battery to monitor the level of the liquid. It can be removed by reading this thread: https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?129333-What-does-this-wire-go-to-Any-help-appreciated&highlight=battery+sensor And read here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?489-Battery-Warning-Bypass Jim
  11. Hey 40: I was the one who gave you the bungee cords. My pleasure and I hope you get to use them for many more campouts and ultimately, wear them out. And a big thank you to Don and Eileen for a great weekend. Jim
  12. Patch, I feel for you, been there, done that and got the aches and pains to prove it. I too have learned I am getting too old to lie on the cement floor in the garage. The autos in my driveway all are repaired and/or maintained by a local mechanic now. The biggest thing I work on now is my Venture and the lawn tractor, both of which fit on my platform lift, so I can work on them standing up. Jim
  13. When you back out of the garage, never look over your shoulder and turn the steering wheel, as your upper body turns to the rear (Not as young and as supple as I used to be). Anyway, the front of the car turns and as you are reversing out of the garage, the corner of the front bumper catches the door frame and steel track for the overhead door. Front garage wall is pulled out from the bottom and falls on hood of car. Don't ask me how I know this! Note: this happened many years ago when cars had real steel bumpers that were actually functional. Jim
  14. Did you jackknife the trailer tongue into the bag? Had to ask because I have done it with my 89 VR but only left scratches in the paint. Jim
  15. Earl: Sorry to hear the news about your back and legs. Unfortunately I am in the same boat. I cannot ride and haven't even got the bike out of its winter storage yet because of a heart condition that I developed over the winter. I am undergoing tests now and hope to be on my bike by the end of June when everything is corrected. I hope you heal well and quickly. Take care of yourself and do what the Dr. says. Jim
  16. Justin: I am EAST of Niagara Falls about an hour in the western suburbs of Rochester, just off I-90 about 20 minutes. We have plenty of room for a tent. And I am leaving Friday morning for Freebirds. I probably will meet with Bongobob and the crew from Canada in Erie, PA. We have a spare guest room for your use. Also, we have two small dogs (15 lbs.), so you need to be pet friendly. If you want more details PM me. Jim
  17. Here are the bars I mentioned in the above thread. I packaged them up today and will ship tomorrow. You will need to paint them as they have been kicking around in my garage for awhile. Jim
  18. Here is a pic of the MK1 setup. The main difference between the MK1 and the MK2 is the clamp on the bag crash bar is not used on the MK2, there is a bolt that goes thru the bottom of the bag., as Jeff mentioned. I have set of mounting bars that I can ship you if you would like them. There is a slight bend in one bar due to a tipover a few years ago on my bike but it is not noticeable. It is easily straightened. I only have the two long mounting bars and none of the other pieces. PM me and I will send them to you, as they are looking for a new home. Will post pic on Monday as soon as I am home. I have part #1 but fits the MK2.
  19. John: My condolences to you and Lisa. It is always very difficult to lose a part of your family. My pet was taken by a coyote a year ago and killed in the woods behind our home, we never had the chance to say goodbye. I hope you had the opportunity to spend a few minutes with your "baby". You will see him again at the Rainbow Bridge. Jim
  20. I get a steady 40/44 MPG running two lane roads and 60/65 MPH with my 89VR. When pulling my trailer (about 450 lbs. gross loaded weight) I get a steady 38 MPG @ 62/65 MPH. The only modification to the motor is backing off the needles .060, same as Puc did. Jim
  21. I have just had a bout of either Afib or SVT (a week ago) and am now wearing a monitor to see what is going on with my heart. I still have a week to wear this monitor and then my cardiologist will recommend what is to be done. If I have another issue with the heart my cardiologist said to do the Valsalva Maneuver to bring the heart back into rhythm. It has worked for me twice since my initial attack. It may be easier than running up and down the stairs. 15 seconds has worked for me. The maneuver is the same as divers use to equalize their ears when diving. If you have done any diving at all you should know what it is. Google "The Valsalva Maneuver" to find out more about it. Also, check with your cardiologist about this procedure to make sure it is useful for you before attempting. Jim
  22. The VIN and date of manufacture can be found on a sticker on the bottom of the frame on the right side (as you are sitting on the bike) under the footpeg. It's a white sticker.
  23. Chuck, the state of WV wants to make sure you are not a desperado on the lam from the law!!! LOL!
