  1. As the title says.....anyone interested in bringing your old, not needed, excess accumulation, and ("The Boss" wants those parts out of her kitchen!!!!) type parts and have an impromptu swap meet at MD? I am going to be bringing some used parts for 1st gens and want to give them away at MD in June. An old taillight, some new gaskets, side cover pieces( ordered Marcarl's side chrome pieces), a pair of saddle bag cover bars, old water pump parts, cassette deck( probably good for a boat anchor) etc.. Not sure if this is something we could do or should do. I thought just small parts, only what could be carried by a rider on his or her bike. I don't think things like wheels or fairing body parts should be included because of their size, or at least I wouldn't carry those size parts, because of the bulk. But to each his own. Anyway, I thought about having a Swap Meet on Saturday. I don't always catch all the requests for parts on the Forum. And I might as well give them to someone who needs them. Any thoughts about this?? I haven't really thought this through, but the first thing was competition for Skydoc, EUSA1, Carbon One and other members selling their products. Not sure how they would react to this idea. As I said, haven't thought it through but I am sure their would need to be rules of some type about quantity , size, value, money, etc.. I thought we could make a donation to the SAF Fund if we displayed any parts. A fee of $2.00 to $5.00 to participate in the Swap Meet. Or some mutually agreeable amount. Any thoughts on this?? Jim
  2. Paypal sent. I will keep you and your daughter in my prayers. Jim
  3. Larry: Mike K is correct. Paypal allows you to send your funds to a bank account that you set up. You can transfer funds to your checking account or savings account and there is no fee involved. I do it with two different accounts that I have with Paypal. Jim
  4. Bob: Did Biker Becky smack you in the side of the head for this comment????? Inquiring minds want to know. Jim
  5. Your supposed to put Seafoam.... IN the tank and not.... ON the trunk!!!!! Oh, wait are we talking about the same kinds of trunks???? Jim
  6. Brian: USA Qty = 2 Size = 5" Thanks Jim
  7. Thanks, Jeff. That is a nice looking unit. Where do I send the money for my hitch? Do you take Paypal? Just kidding. I can design it, but don't have a welder to put it together. (I was a design engineer before I retired). Would a HF welder be powerful enough to weld that hitch? I am having a new service panel put in my home on Wednesday and could add another circuit for a welder in the garage. I am having a 220 sub panel put in in the garage just for heavier equipment . Band saws, table saws, larger grinders, etc.. Jim
  8. Are the water lines rigidly mounted in the walls of your home? I had the same problem in my home and found the pipes going across the basement rafters were nailed tight to the beams. The sound of the water could be heard all thru the house. The rushing water transferred the noise to the beams and amplified it. The clamps holding the pipe in place were rigidly nailed to the beams. I removed the nails and wrapped a small piece of cheap rubber sheet around the pipe where it went in the clamp and them used dry wall type screws to reassemble the clamps. Doing that eliminated 90% of the problem.. I still have a few clamps that are under the dry wall, but I can live with the lower noise level now. Jim
  9. Does it idle a little rough when it is up to operating temperature, no high speed get up and go? Mid range RPM's lagging a little?? Well, I see the problem.........no muffler bearings!!!! You forgot to install and grease the muffler bearings!!! You have to do that every Spring otherwise the performance suffers. It must have been a LOOOONG winter!!!!!!! Jim
  10. Jeff, the round spacer is a good idea to prevent the tube from collapsing. Did you design and build the hitch for your VR? Or, did that come from Larry? I have a Markland hitch on my 89 VR but don't like the way it sticks out in the rear. I am looking for something else that is shorter not too obtrusive. Jim
  11. This is my 83 Blonde and the other pic is my other blonde (aka "The Boss") taken last Xmas at a local restaurant. "The Boss" and I have been together for 27 years and married for 15 years. Jim
  12. spoons and headed to........
  13. Try the Metal Supermarket for the size you need. They will cut to size and may even put the hole in it for the ball and pin. Our local store will do some simple drilling. Google for location or check local yellow pages. Jim
  14. Try the Metal Supermarket and buy just the size and length you need. There should be a metal store near you or check the Yellow Pages. They cut to size and relatively inexpensive. Also may put the hole in it for the ball. Jim
  15. I bought it off eBay and don't remember the site. If you do a search, it will come up. It came from China and took about 2 to 3 weeks to get here. Here are two lights on eBay: 271136542790 & 180730095994. Note that these are only 600 lumens. Do a search for "Cree flashlight w/12 volt charger". Also try Amazon. Jim
  16. Pete: I have the same light but it came with two batteries, charger plus a 12 volt charger. I paid $25.00 for it and liked it so well I bought a second one to keep in the bike. It makes all of my older flashlights obsolete. This thing will blind you if you look at the light beam! Jim
  17. Rick: I know this is an old post but, I thought you might be interested in this light. It is 3000 Lumens and could be used as a backup for a dead headlight. Check out this writeup from Web Bike World: http://www.webbikeworld.com/flashlight/fandyfire-uv-s5-flashlight/ That's lot of light! Jim
  18. Put a coat of paint on it and it would turn into a 2013 Yamaha, with all the same technology. Yama needs to do an upgrade in the worst way. Jim
  19. I just looked at the eBay website for that power supply and at the bottom of the page (in RED BOLD type), it says not for iPhones or iPads. What does that mean????? It won't charge them ?????? Jim
  20. Ben: I am waiting for a brake line delink kit from Skydoc. My bike is torn apart until the brake kit comes in. Not sure when I will get it. Earl is having problems with his house and that takes priority. I also have a dinner planned for that evening, so I wouldn't be able to take a day long ride anyway. I hope to make the next one. Jim
  21. Steve: Sheila and I are sorry to hear about your father. Remember the good times and celebrate his life. Our prayers go out to you and your family. Jim
  22. I read the specs...............what is your address? I have about 50 lbs I want to send to you to convert! :mo money: Jim
  23. OK I'm in! How many suitcases am I allowed? (Will need something to hold all the towels and silver when I leave.......) Jim
  24. Rick: I have used the Cree light for a few days now and it is very bright and throws a very concentrated beam. I don't think I would need an adjustable beam. At 30 feet it is about 20" in diameter. And stays very concentrated out to about 125 feet. Amazon has them for about $15.00 without the extra battery and charger. Also found out that the beam only has four adjustments and not five as advertised. High.. Low..Strobe ..SOS. There is no Med light level. Also, the manual stated the unit was "water resistant" and not waterproof. All aluminum construction and well made, in my opinion. I have about four hours use on the first battery and haven't charged it yet and have not noticed any decline in light output yet. I have ordered another one to keep in my bike. Jim
