  1. I bought mine thru Rick at Buckeye Performance. Great to work with, fast shipping and he is very knowledgeable about 1st Gen bikes. Just Google Buckeye Performance. Jim
  2. Rob: I have no need for the parts but wanted to thank you for your generosity. As I mentioned to you a long time ago, the help and giving people on this site make this Forum a great place to be. I have had a lot of help from the members of this Forum over the last few weeks when I had a clutch slave problem, and even phone calls with answers to my questions. This is a great place to be a part of! Thanks for your generous offer. Jim
  3. If your not comfortable tilting the bike, just put an oil pan under the cover and let the oil drip into it. Then replace as stated above. Also, the bolt at the 6 o'clock position has a copper washer under the head and when you remove this bolt the oil will seep out. Make sure this bolt goes back in the same place, as it seals the cover and prevents the oil from leaking out of the engine. When you remove the cover, you will also need to unclip the wires, and move out of the way, to allow the slave unit to drop out. Jim
  4. Bob: I would like to come down for the party, but I have a graduation ceremony to go to and can't get out of it. "The Boss" mumbled something about my dead body??? Not sure what she meant. I'm still breathing as of this writing, and she said that to insure I stay that way, I better show up at the graduation ceremony. Sometimes it's just not worth it to get out of bed in the morning! Sure would like to be there but to insure my participation in future parties (hard to party when you have a frying pan lump on the back of your head , ....ask Yammer), I think I better heed the words of "The Boss". Jim :(
  5. Yeah, I didn't tell them that I have an ice cream disorder!! Some things just need to be kept in the family!!!!!!! :fnd_(16):
  6. Big Tom: I will be touring the Ben & Jerry's plant on July 12th with another bike club. I will bring a sample back for you. (Yeah, right.......Don't hold your breath!!!)
  7. Talk about depressed, ..........the pool people came today to test the rear yard to see if it is dry enough to get their heavy equipment in to install our new pool. Guess what???? While he was standing in the pouring rain , he said not today..........maybe by the end of June, as long as there is no more rain for at least the next two weeks. If this weather keeps up, we might be into mid July before they can install it, he told me. Our home sits on a slight hill and the pool is going in at the rear of our property, where the hill stops and the ground levels off. Needless to say, all the accumulated water from our property runs to this flat area. It really has not dried out from the snow that we got over the winter. My neighbor said we should have it in just in time to cover it for the winter! We have had 4.8" of rain this year and normal accumulation for this time of year is 1.5". So we are way ahead of the curve. Someone turn off the faucet, please!!!!! Jim
  8. Seems like a good price but it will need new tires and the wheel bearings will need attention. The tires will be an added cost....may be a negotiating point.
  9. I like the perforated strap material..........bet it falls off!!! Must be a HD!
  10. Click on Classifieds at the top of the page and then click on "Member Vendors" and then click on "Rick Butler".
  11. Dave: It is a First Gen problem. The thread is undercut on the bolt and it makes it weak and will eventually fail. See reply #6 for original thread and photos of the new vs. old bolt. Jim
  12. OK Steve, glad they worked out for you.
  13. Baby powder works great on paint jobs, too. Paul is right....old detailers trick. Jim
  14. Wayne: I have the frame parts that you need. The part with the headlight adjuster and the relay frame. Plus some other frame parts. If Dano doesn't have what you need, let me know if you want any of the parts. Jim
  15. OK Paul, in the mail to you tomorrow. JIM
  16. Yeah, what Snaggletooth said......these 1300's live forever. I think the stealer is blowing smoke. Either doesn't want to bother with an "old" bike or his mechanics don't know how to work on them. There are a few things that need to be done to get it running. Starting with a carb drain and Seafoam and then plugs, fresh gas, etc. There is a number of simple things to do to make it run. See the Tech Section for more help. Others more knowledgeable than I can help. Jim
  17. Mike: Here is my trailer. I put the plug under the license plate which holds it in place. Just a zip tie to the corner of the plate frame to keep it tucked under when I am not using it. I had about 200 lbs in it for the trip to Don's MD and got 39 MPG @ 65 MPH. Ran most of the distance with the cruise. Jim
  18. Great job, Gary! And it was nice to see you again at Don's. I have three of the bolts & both nuts that are used for Gary's conversion on the side stand. I will send them to whoever wants them....no charge. Just PM me your name and address. Jim
  19. Jeff & Wayne: I have the Dually spot driving lights on my bike and they make the Ultrastar headlight look like a candle. Well worth the money. http://www.ebay.com/itm/400289812243?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649&autorefresh=true Jim
  20. I did this modification to my kickstand (thank you Gary) and could not find a local store with metric bolts, so I ordered the bolts and nuts from McMaster-Carr. The minimum quantity that I could order was 10 bolts and nuts, so I have 9 extra bolts and nuts left over from this conversion. I am giving away the 9 leftover bolts and the two nuts to anyone who wants a set. I will be at Don's MD on Saturday and will give them to the first 9 people that see me there or contact me. Gary's solution for the long standing (pun intended!) problem with broken bolts is gone. The conversion was easy and works great. My kickstand is nice and solid and there is no movement or play in the stand. Great solution, Gary. Thanks. Jim
  21. Wayne: Will this help? Go to search box and drop down to google search and put in "jumper CMU" and click on www.venturerider.org and then go. I jumpered the tailight and brake light on my 89 and it works OK. Jim
  22. Happy belated Birthday, Vickie. If Big Tom doesn't share his ice cream, just smack him in the side of the head with a frying pan. That's what "The Boss" does to me and it works every time! What can I say....I am a slow learner. I hope you had a great day. Jim
  23. Thank you, Gary. It is people like you who make this Forum such a great place to be. Thank you to Squid and Snaggle for their info and help. It is the sharing of knowledge and cooperation that makes this Forum a success. Jim
  24. I put a piece of clear plexiglass in the opening and held it in place with very small zip ties. I put the ties thru the holes where the old fins pivoted. Then put some LED lights behind the clear plastic. Jim
