  1. My brother-in-law has acquired a '79 Suzuki GS550E and is going to restore it to factory new condition for his daughter to ride. It only has 8000 miles on it but needs a few things. Where can we find a downloadable service manual and also a breakdown of parts with part numbers. He is not computer literate and is having trouble finding parts and part numbers. Also, is there a reputable chrome shop that can re-chrome parts. Thanks for the help. Jim
  2. Here is the part number for the ball stud from McMaster Carr. Check the specs on their catalog page, you may find one at an auto parts store. The "emergency fix" parts section (or whatever they are called)? Part number is 9512K73 .....5/16 Ball stud. http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/119/1197/=nrpkh7 Jim
  3. Part number is 9512K73 .....5/16 Ball stud. http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/119/1197/=nrpkh7 Jim
  4. Yeah! Rockin' Robin and the Rubes! No, not our Rockin Robin.....
  5. I put a Rick's High Output stator and a Shindigen R/R in my 89 VR and what a big difference in the way the bike starts and the stator runs cooler because it is not running at 100% power output. So the stator will last longer. Bike starts better and runs at higher voltage than with the original setup. 13.0 volts vs. 14.1 volts now. Also run the red and black wires from the Shindigen R/R directly to the battery posts and eliminate the wiring harness on the bike. R/R will sense the voltage at the battery and you will get better & more consistent voltage for the bike. Jim
  6. You also might try McMaster-Carr. They have all sizes of bushings, but not sure what you need. Jim
  7. Jeff: "Clear liquids" includes vodka doesn't it? It may help!! Jim
  8. Here is a photo of the pool that I had installed in our backyard. The installation was 7 weeks late due to all the rain we have had this year. We had almost 9 inches of rain in the month of June, alone. That is equivalent to a whole summer of rain for us. Anuway, everyone is invited to stop and take a dip during our M & E on Sept 7th. Oh, ......don't forget the bathing suit. Jim
  9. OK, Tom, I'm in. That should be enough to get the discount. I have taken this tour before and there is public parking for the bikes in a lot just past the ticket office. Go past the building and over the bridge and the lot is on the right. It's about 200 feet from the ticket office. Jim
  10. That was a good one, Taters!! I got my laugh of the day!! :rotf:
  11. It's time for a Meet & Eat in Western NY! Save the date………for a Meet & Eat at our home on Sept 7th (Saturday). We will have a relaxing day sitting by the pool (bring your swimsuit) to catch up with all of the news of your VR friends, followed by a picnic style meal about 5:00 PM, followed by a short ride to the DQ. There is a brand new DQ opening at the end of the month about 1/2 mile down the road. (An enticement for Big Tom to show up!!). For those who want to come early on Friday night, we will have a fire in the backyard to socialize and roast marshmallows and relax with various libations of your choice. We have plenty of room in the house, if you want to crash on the family room floor or living room couch, and a large rear yard for tents and campers. Hotels are about 10 minutes away. PM me for hotels in the area. Our home is very easy easy to find, about 30 seconds off the I-390 expressway on the west side of Rochester, NY. 192 Summit Hill Drive Rochester, NY 14612 GPS coordinates: 43.256851,-77.653351 Please go to the Calendar and sign up, so that we can plan for the food and drinks. We hope to see everyone there on the 7th! ............................. Jim & Sheila
  12. Great idea, Annie. And I think that Jaybird, at the International, could add a little something on the side of the trailer, for Brad. How about a donation to Freebird's Paypal to pay for Jaybirds time and effort? (Are you going to the Int'l, Don?). Just an idea to think about, tho' time is short. Jim
  13. I have bought some LED lights from R and P Carriages and am very satisfied with their products and quick shipping. Will buy from them again. Great people to buy from and reasonable prices. Jim
  14. I don't have a need for ice. The pool is mere steps away from this cooler.
  15. The view out my dining room window was changed yesterday. It was very interesting to watch. The crew were very skilled and worked together like a well oiled machine. Nine men and a "sidewalk superintendent". It took 2 1/2 half hours from the time the Bobcat started to strip off the sod to the garden hoses going in and water flowing. This is the new therapy pool for "The Boss". She says she is glad it is finally in and ready to use. Due to the wet and rainy weather, in our area, the installation is 5 weeks behind. It was scheduled for the last week of May. Now I am waiting for the deck people to come and install the deck and the electricians to bury the electric and hook it up. It should be complete by next week. Anyone for a pool party???
  16. I will take 2 and pick them up at the International. Thanks Jim
  17. KIC, you forgot... 11. Some of the above.....but, not necessarily all of the above. But then again, none of the above is also correct, for some of the above. Jim
  18. WHAT is etched in your mind? Did I miss SOMETHING else? Now I am REALLY worried that I missed something. I won't be able to sleep tonight, thinking I might have missed something REALLY important. And, when I miss my sleep, I get tired and then I might miss someth..............Oh, I am getting a headache and when I get a headache............... Jim
  19. I missed it, too. But I am not sure what I missed. So, is it important to know what I didn't miss or should I just wonder what it should have been? Of course, it might not have been of any importance at all, so, in that case, I really didn't miss it at all. But, on the other hand, if it WAS important and I DID miss it, then I am going to be worried that I really did miss something important. Shoot, I will be so worried that I might have missed something, that I might miss some sleep. And if I miss some sleep then I feel tired and when I get tired, I am worried I will miss somethinggggg......................... Jim
  20. Now you've done it, Tom. She is going to take your ice cream away from you!!!!! Hey, Taters..............I'll eat it for him! That's what friends are for! Jim
  21. I will take two. Thanks Jim
  22. I will be there, Bob. But, I may need to rent your spare room.........."The Boss" is having a pool party at home and I had already made plans to attend your party, so she may not let me come back home. If I arrive with a big suitcase strapped to the rear of the VR, you know it won't be good news. PS: Does the room rent come with a free breakfast?? Jim
  23. Here's the info. Not sure where he got it for that price. http://www.princessauto.com/pal/en/Motorcycle/1000-lb-Air-Hydraulic-Motorcycle-Lift/8133860.p Jim
  24. Tom: I am more than willing to help you...........I will eat the other half that Abdul doesn't eat. Hey, what are friends for!!!???? Jim
