1. Wow!, how can we, who aspire to be Christians, not pray!!! Love to you and yours, and of course prayers sent!!
2. One less than a mile from me which was great since the one I had been using started using ethanol gas! Thanks, you hit one out of the ballpark for me here!!!!!
3. Do these qualify?
4. The Ultimate seat was my first purchase for the 05RSTD. Had this sick feeling about shelling out about $600 for a motorcycle seat, and one that is not waterproof! BEST INVESTMENT EVER!!!! I have ridden 986 miles on her in one day gotten off and realized an hour later that my butt was not sore! Tried to keep her dry with a bike seat waterproof cover but she has had many a soaking with no apparent ill effect. Just got back from a 2400 mile trip to Texas and butt soreness is just not an issue for me anymore, ever!!! By the way I read here somewhere that you do "not" have to get the passenger seat.
5. I travel heavy and ask a lot out of my tent. It has to be tall enough so that I do not have to stoop when entering. I have used this Coleman tent for the last 3 years and it has withstood Wyoming winds, torrential rains, and being hauled all over the US and Canada. From the abuse I have put it through I have one ripped pole sleeve and 1 cracked pole. That's after 19k miles of traveling and camping! Tent is a little complicated to set up but instructions are on the bag and it is easy once you have practiced a little. It does need two people, although I have done it by myself, once! 6. Dang it, have to work Saturday, although I am thinking of quitting this job and taking a step out into the scary, look mom no safety net, world of self employment! Just quite haven't figured out what God wants outta me! Anyhow excited to see this and will get to one of these rides! Thanks for the blog!!
7. file:///C:/Users/RJ/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.pngIf Luckenbach does not quench that thirst you will find Albert 15 miles around the corner!! [ame=http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Albert,+TX&daddr=Luckenbach,+TX&geocode=FZe4zAEdIHUf-ilB0OG34Z5bhjF0Oftl_vuDtA%3BFYGIzAEdUBsd-ik7t-3xLpRbhjEbLTTScCWhRQ&hl=&mra=ls&sll=30.181505,-98.75576&sspn=0.031088,0.055189&g=Luckenbach,+TX&ie=UTF8&ll=30.202114,-98.687782&spn=0.124325,0.220757&z=12]Albert, Fredericksburg East, TX to Luckenbach, TX - Google Maps[/ame]
8. Found this place right around the corner from Luckenbach! Unfortunately could not hang around for the weekend dance! Looked like this place could be a barn burner!!
9. Just returned from Texas and am more than satisfied w my C550 and the cheap garmin bicycle mount I purchased off of Fleabay (about $3) . file:///C:/Users/RJ/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot.pngThe attachment does occasionally, but rarely, come off but the power cord acts as a tie down. Each time it happened I believe I didn't have it quite mounted snug enough and it has happened so infrequently that it is not a bother. I did find it that C550 is waterproof after spending an entire day traveling in the rain. My phone got so wet I'm in the process of replacing it. No problems with the C550! This was my first long trip with a gps and I cannot believe the difference it makes! Had a few traffic jams I was able to easily detour around due to the gps detour feature. Also loved not having to pull over to figure out which way to go next. Really loved when I missed a turn the gps would automatically determine another route to get me back on track. Best investment, for less then $50 including mount, that I have made in a long time!
10. Hate it I missed my own shin dig, but it sounds like everyone had a good time! Phone got wet on the second day and it was pretty much out from then on. Also limited to no internet service, felt like I was in the stone age there in the hill country. But I so enjoyed visiting with my mom! Also managed to see both my brothers one is the Chief Probation Officer for 3 counties in that area. The other was High School Teacher of this past year for San Antonio. Needless to say they got all the talent, all I got was the looks and charm. The best part of the trip was my daughter though. It was her first long trip mc ride and to put it bluntly: "She does not suffer well!". That being said she keep the complaining to a minimum even though we had a whole day of rain, a day of cold, cold, weather, early morning cold each day, a 500 mile plus day of riding, and a continually sore rump! I am not sure if she will ever ride with me again but she went out of her way to make me feel special and I feel very blessed for it. Anyhow, a special thanks to Rickey "asley9187" for stopping back by DQ in Blanco to make me feel welcome! Hopefully I will see you all at Freebirds this year!!
11. Then I am looking forward to some true stories! Be a change from the bs and lies associated with war stories I usually hear, not that those aren't fun to!! In BAM in Hot Springs, AR getting ready to head to Broken Bow, OK for the night. Looking forward to being in Texas here shortly!
12. I'll be staying at my mom's on Altwein Rd about 8 miles outside of Blanco. She will be out that day and will not be home till 4ish. So I'll be leaving Dallas/Ft. Worth some time that morning and heading down 281. I can call ahead so no one has to wait around. Plan on an easy ride and hanging out at the DQ.
13. Should be in the Blanco neighborhood Tuesday afternoon sometime! My # is posted in my profile!! Looking forward to seeing you all!!
14. Just finished conducting some business with an online mc supplier "Revzilla" http://www.revzilla.com/?utm_content=HeaderLogo&utm_campaign=order_cancelled&utm_medium=email. I do a lot of online ordering and usually do not think twice about where I get something from, but I got to say I am quite impressed with this supplier. On a late Sunday they were able to cancel an order, I had changed my mind about, promptly and I had my money refunded back into my Paypal account. No hassle, no questions, just fantastic service. I will be using them again, and again in the future!!
15. We were all on our best behavior but wait till we break wind, usually during the ice cream rallies!!!
16. I remember listening to his records as a child and thought I would wet myself with laughter! I love that he does not promote any type of cussing period! Saw him give that female comedian the evil eye during the Grammys one year. She does have a potty mouth and it was obvious he did not approve! He will always be a class act in my book!
17. For this Florida, flat land, boy my first real mc mountain experience was in the Blue Ridge Parkway. First thing I learned, on the fly you might say, was to ignore the posted speed limit. My skill level was not up to par for that. I quickly started driving for my limited skill level. I also was surprised by how intense I had to pay attention to what I was doing especially on the North Carolina section. I don't remember much scenery there since I always seemed to be setting up for the next curve, adjusting my speed, and angle of approach, and then exit angle from the curve. I found "blind curves" (those i could not see through) harrowing till I got use to them. Locals seemed to drive to fast and have little tolerance or patience for us less experienced drivers. I would not let anyone tail gate me and at the first opportune safe moment would pull over to let them pass. First for my own safety and second just to be courteous to whoever wanted, or needed, to go faster. By the time we reached Virginia I started getting the hang of "Mountain Riding" and those mountains were less severe then their NC neighbor! I now reside in Chattanooga, which is surrounded by mountains and love riding them! ENJOY!!
18. I never, till now, heard of this rule but I practice it pretty diligently! I ride every day and try to keep my head on a swivel. I am constantly amazed at how close everyone in traffic will follow each other no matter what the speed. If one starts focusing on this it does not take long to realize how 3 car pileups occur. I am surprised that its not 4 or 5 car pileups. I cannot imagine where everyone thinks they can get to quickly by being on someones bumper. I taught my daughter and my girlfriend's daughter both how to drive and they both practice that 6 second rule. I just about beat it into them. I carry it a step further when coming to a stop in traffic by always leaving space between me, usually at least a car length, and the car in front of me. Just so no one thinks I have this holier than thou mentality it took a few accidents on my part, fortunately in a cage, to gain this "wisdom"! Joe, having my own daughter who loves to ride with me, I am so thankful that you two are ok! It says a lot about you also to step up to the forum here and share! Hopefully we all learned a little more from your experience. My daughter and I will be at the South Carolina M&E this Saturday. Looking forward to meeting you!!
19. Chest, I mean Chess! Sorry had something else on my mind!!!
20. I have enjoyed this thread to and really have admired how you have staid above the minutia and trusted in the process!!
21. Dated a gal in Brenham, TX where, I believe, Blue Bell originated?!
22. Oh wow, did I cause that, a M&E?! That would be way to cool! I think my daughter would get a real kick meeting some of you, Texas style!! You guys know you are dealing with an Aggie?! Careful now our host, Freebird, is an Aggie. I would hate for someone to get pitched off this fantastic website just because they had the bad grace to slur an Aggie!!!
23. Couple at Lowe's last night looking at faucets! The man complains to his wife that she is taking to long looking! He was actually a little overboard with his comments. She coolly looked at me and said "What is your most expensive faucet on the floor?! I love married folk! I don't think billboard diagrams, pictures, or embossed, ten commandment style directions would have helped this man get laid!!!
24. Going to Texas during the week of March 5th~12th to see my Mom in Blanco! Would love to see any and all Venture Associates during that time! If weather is foul my daughter, she does not do cold well, and I will trailer the bike with a cage otherwise we are looking forward to a great bike trip: Made to be "modified" Itinerary 5 March Leaving Chattanooga, TN camping at Village Creek State Park, Wynne, AR http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/villagecreek/ 6th March riding to Beavers Bend State Resort Park, Broken Bow, Oklahoma http://www.stateparks.com/beavers_bend.html 7h March Dallas area, TX 8th~10th March Blanco, TX 11th March Houston and then camping at South Toledo Bend State Park, Anacoco, LA http://www.crt.state.la.us/parks/istb.aspx 12th~13th Chattanooga, TN via Natchez Trail http://www.nps.gov/natr/index.htm
25. I put close to 15k on my venom and most of those miles from hauling a very heavy trailer behind me all summer! When I replaced it with a car tire I found a bald spot as long as my arm which I could have sworn was not there the week before so I agree that the wear bars indicate she is gonna go, and fast. After the ct wears out I plan on going back to the venom, not cause I'm dissatisfied with a ct, just want to really experience the difference first hand after being on a ct for so long! PLEASE, not trying to start any ct debate here, I think we have pretty much beat that subject to death!!! It sort of like what you have to tell someone with two black eyes?! Nothing much, since you have already told him twice!!
