  2. Really needs to be a header spanning the entire opening. Tying the two existing ones together really is not gonna do it. This can be accomplished several different ways without having to tear a lot of stuff down. A temporary support system installed supporting the ceiling joists near that end while the existing headers are replaced should do it for you. All that being said keep in mind I am just a lowly construction guy I am sure we have knowledgeable engineers on this website that know a thing or three about this. Also, pictures of what you are trying to do help! God Luck!!
  3. I have been using the Sena SMH10 since they first came out a couple years ago! http://www.freedomcyclelasvegas.com/2013/05/25/top-5-motorcycle-communication-headset-systems/ My wife and I enjoy using them while traveling. We use to ride with another biker who had the same setup and we used our intercom with him so much that it became an essential part of our trips.
  4. Awesome, just might have to come check that out!!
  5. How about posting this for all of us!! Thanks!!
  6. Done all that in previous posts. I've had that trailer all over this country and Canada since 2009 numerous times! Gave up on trying to prove it's safe construction long ago. It really smacks against some's idea of what a MC Trailer should be. Hate it for them but love my trailer!!
  7. I have that shirt! Wore it to prison ministry the other night, in fact! Gets commented on all across the country, from daughters as well as from dads!!
  8. I re did the tongue on my trailer making it twice the length of the axle. Didn't like the look then realized there was an opportunity for additional storage space. Slapped on car rack and a storage box and now I love it!!
  9. "Of the gladdest moments in human life is the departure upon a distant journey into unknown lands. Shaking off with one mighty effort the fetters of Habit, the leaden weight of Routine, the cloak of many Cares and the slavery of Home, man feels once more happy. The blood flows with the fast circulation of childhood. Afresh dawns the morn of life." -...- Sir Richard Francis Burton (1821-1290) One day I'll have to read his autobiography! He is a man after my own heart as are you!! Enjoy every minute of it!
  10. 1st Bike I ever owned!! Hey, where are the pictures?!
  11. "That it was good to be me!!"
  12. Live in Cleveland, TN. which ain't all that far away!! Have not had much to do since I busted my leg. Taking visitors?!
  13. Yep, I would love one of those! RandyR was kind enough to do my last valve job and fortunately he had one of those gizmos! Please hold one for me, I will be the guy hobbling around with crutches!! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78300
  14. Curious of your opinion of the two? Pro's and Con's of both? The Valkrie is really the only other bike on the road that turns my head, not enough to part with my beloved RSTD, but I've always been curious! Thanks!!
  15. Thought about you and this thread when I saw this on ebay the other day. Seems like others here have about the same strategy!! Hope it helps. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271011527296?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  16. I had mine now going on 5+ years. Still haven't seen anything that looks better to me. The Valkyrie catches my eye from time to time but mostly as a distant runner up. I would like to ride one for a while just to see how it handles
  17. Ride safe and more pictures brother!!
  18. Thanks everyone for the kind words! I know the rules here. Cannot tell a story without a picture. The picture adds credit to the story and shows God's miracle.
  19. My fellow carpenters, here in Tennessee, although not liking the cold (who wants to walk top plates that have frost on them) don't like the heat either when its 90+ with high humidy. I tell them there is no such thing as to much heat and to bring it on!! I can tolerate cold better then most from my military winter survival training but I believe I also like it the least! Yep, I am a true Florida boy!!
  20. My first time on I 40 was quite intimidating. We have nothing like it in Florida!! Everyone was going way to fast! I took me a while to get use to the curves and the changes in elevation. Like any learning curve once you master it the fun begins. For me it was lowering my speed while I figured out the bike and the skills required. Take your time and be kind to yourself!! Now everyone seems to go way to slow on these here curves!
  21. I first thought the picture was of me and an old girlfriend. Then I realized the bike was not a RSTD. Then I realized the man was wearing a watch. (I don't) Picture does remind me of so many warm, sunny days in Florida with nothing better to do than ride to a fair, a poker run, a bike show! Not really any reason required, just to ride. This artwork is now my desktop background!!
  22. Thank you for sharing your trust in God during such a difficult time! I lift your son, your family, and you up in prayer! God Bless!!
  23. Always! That is what we are here on earth for! Prayers sent!!
  24. Sun is shining here in Chattanooga today and gonna get up to 43 or so. Great day for a ride after all this ran!!!
