  1. tsigwing, love your bike!! Mine has a Kuhmo tire on the back. I'm not as an experienced rider as some but I did wear out a Avon Venom before switching to the dark side. The Kuhmo works for me!

  6. I should be in DE the 21st and 22nd after leaving Don's Maintenance Day in Ohio. I will be crossing PA on Route 6 to Scranton, PA then south into DE camping at Cape Henlopen in Lewes, DE! Great place while in DE and right next door to Rehobeth Beach, DE You could head north to Scranton on your way to Niagara falls, ny! You could even travel along Route 6 (rated a motorcycle road by Harley Davidson) Route 6 will also get you to the Grand Canyon of PA http://pacanyon.com/
  7. Leaving Thurs from Chattanooga up the back roads. Spending the night in a Kentucky State Park then on into Obelin, OH Friday. Sunday crossing PA on route 6 then dropping down into DE then along the coast to the Outer Banks. Back to Chattanooga around the end of the week! Rather would just keep going but haven't been able to find rich girlfriend yet! Looking forward to seeing you again! Welcome to spend Wed. night in Chatt if you need to!
  8. I shall be there as well!
  9. This is why I love this website! After doing some routine maintenance this past weekend I found out my cruise no longer worked. Light would come on but the cruise would not engage. I had removed the negative from the battery during maintenance and figured I had popped a fuse when reinstalling it. No, the fuzzes were good. I then searched this website till I came across this thread and saw that the cruise would not work if the brake lever sensor was still engaged. Sure enough I had pulled my rear brake pads, cleaned them, and reinstalled them. Had to pump the rear brake lever a few times to get the mushiness out of em. and the lever must not have returned to were it needed to. Easy fix. Cruise now works fine! If it had not been for this thread, this website. I might of had to taken it to a shop, which I dread. Thanks everyone!!!!
  10. Never been to a Maintenance Day and was wondering myself the proper procedure for getting things done? I will be bringing my Carbsync and my traveling tools, and my limited experience to help out as well.
  11. If you find yourself around Chattanooga any time soon I can help! Do mine all the time, no biggy!
  12. I have transplanted here in Chattanooga, TN till my daughter graduates college. I understand that you are required, in the state of TN, to get a tag for your trailer although no one here enforces it. If you travel other states may look to see if you are in compliance with your state requirements. They may enforce it. That is what happened to a friend of mine. He, being from TN, was involved in an accident with his trailer in Florida. Although the accident was not his fault he was issued a ticket since his TN trailer had no tag. The ticket issuing officer had called the state of TN to verify the requirement. My friend called a cop friend of his from TN comfirming the requirement as well. He had to pay the ticket. Hope this helps!!
  13. I actually had my bike at 90 or above the other day and did finally experience the wobble that everyone mentions. I don't normally drive that fast, in fact it has been the first time since returning from the west this past summer. After experiencing the wobble I am inclined not to get rid of my Kuhmo. I don't usually have any reason to be up at 90mph. I love how the tire handles wet roads, I have noticed no difference in handling since replacing my Avon Venom, and I am looking forward to the durability of the tire!
  14. Add me to the list please! Thanks!!
  15. I have about 8k to go before I am done with my front Avon Venom. I had planned on replacing it with a Cobra Venom! I look forward to the continued updates to this thread! Intrigued about reversing a rear tire but only if the benefits outweigh the side effects!!!!
  16. Although I did not understand half of what is being said here I do appreciate the great advice and will dive into the manual and correct my ignorance in regards to carburetors. I ride the bike every day and I sync the carbs every other month or so. So she has not been sitting any. Although I do not have any surging I will check the vacuum line going to the boost sensor for leaks as soon as I figure out what, and where, that is. I will also check the TCI unit. Again don't know what, or where, that is, but I will find out. Backing out the 3 screws? I assume that means the 3 screws that are adjusted during the carb sync? Master Carb? Full close? Yep, like a ball in high weeds here!!! Anyhow, I will study and then give all this a try! Rather leery, but mostly itimadated, about pulling the carbs! Was hoping V7 Goose would adjust my floats during Don's maintenance day so I could watch and learn. Again, Thanks ALL!!
  17. I did change the rear plugs recently in an attempt to resolve the drop in mpg. So the problem was occurring before the new plugs. The old plugs looked fine. None were wet with fuel. I would not have replaced them even though they had 25k on them if it had not been for the drop in fuel efficiency. I also did install a new tire on the rear (ct). I have been curious if that would affect my mpg? I believe my mpg was suffering before I did this but I am not 100% sure? So what I am gonna do: pull examine, clean plugs Clean and check the resistance across the caps. Check the ignition coils. (need advice for this) apply some Electrical Contact cleaner to the " Run Stop " switch Resync carbs I want to hopefully have this resolved before coming to Freebird's Maintenance Day in June! Thanks for all the great advice. I will keep posting with my results and also send pictures of the plugs!! Any other suggestions?
  18. OK Guys! Ready for Plan B!! Pulled each wire off while running the engine and noticed a difference in performance each time. So it does not seem I have a fowled plug. Still clueless unfortunately. HELP!!??!!
  19. Hey busy guy!! Can you post the written instructions and a link to the thread that explains the install, WITH PICS! Thanks so much!!
  20. Thanks!! I installed new plugs a months ago thinking that might have been the cause. I felt like there was a performance increase but my mpg did not improve. The original plugs at 25K also looked fine. I cleaned them every 8K and would still be using them now if it was not for the decrease in mpg! It makes sense to me that a fowled plug would decrease the mileage by 1/4. What is the best way to check for a fowled plug?
  21. I also have the same exact problemto include a little noticeable fuel in the vent ports when I synced the carbs. Seafoam is not getting it and it is driving me nuts!!! Another member mentioned checking the plug caps! Which is next on my to get it done list. I check my mileage at every fuel up and ! have been running about 32mpg all winter, down 12mpg! So far I have: Changed the plugs Cleaned the air filters Synced the carbs Seafoamed the gas Engine sounds good and no hesitations or whatnot. Really frustrating!!!! HELP!!!
  22. Wow, Thanks V7Goose!! I will be checking out the plug wires tomorrow. And after your explanation have no reason to mess with those bowls!! Again Thanks and as others say I learn so much from this site! Proud to be a member!!!
  23. Local gas station promotes it. I'll post a picture in the near future!
  24. Draining the bowls hopefully flushes out any trash? Completely clueless about checking resistance on plug wires? Unscrewing plug caps? Is that from the coils? I read some other posts and this sounds like a worthwhile investigation just need a flashlight! Thanks!!
  25. Normally I get 40~45mpg. Over the last few months though I get about 32mpg. Done sync the carbs, replaced the plugs, cleaned the air filters, and have checked to make sure all cylinders are firing. I have dumped seafoam in my last 2 of 3 fillups and I am hoping that may clean em up. I have also started using Regular gas without the ethanol. What would my next step be if that does not resolve the issue? Someone mentioned draining the carb bowls? I really don't want to take carbs apart!
