  1. After riding through SD two summers ago I decided that there wasn't much I needed to see in North Dakota, one of only two states I have not rode through!!
  2. Nice! Did you send her a picture of what you wanted and what was the price tag, if you don't mind?
  3. I want to go!! I want to quit my job! I knew I should have found a rich girlfriend and not just one with a great tush!!!
  4. Hot damn!!
  5. Glad you are setting the example for the rest of us! Don't understand marriage at any age, but you would think by 72 or so your best friend would have found a cure!!
  6. Hell, I was hoping you would buy them all!
  7. Love the nick-name and the chief didn't get to be chief without being thick skinned. I am now also realizing that I wasn't as funny as I thought I was since I am having to explain all this. Also no need to apologize for being Air Force!!! :stickpoke:Hopefully we can sit down over beers or vodka one day and tell a few VFR or IFR stories! Maybe then the Chief will join us and tell us all about the Indian Ocean and Austria!!!
  8. Careful Captain, you are talking to a Chief, which outranks most any day of the week!!
  9. They must have had a compliment of SEALS!!!
  10. Do you guys find you have problems with raised patches or groves that run parallel with the bike? NO!

  13. Near Miami, actually between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, there is an all nudist beach called Haulover Beach! Bikes optional! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g34439-d274006-Reviews-Haulover_Beach_Park-Miami_Beach_Florida.html or http://www.islandsunderthesun.com/haulover.html
  14. Yhea, I can definitely relate on the ignorance part!! Earl ,skydoc17, helped me with a new clutch upgrade Rick, Rick Butler, held my hand while I installed new springs Ken, V7Goose, put up with me while setting my pilot screws and syncing my carbs at Don's Maint Day Don, "gunboat", gave me a center stand and David, "Conch", put it together Because of these guys and others on this website, who share their valuable time and post pictures, I get to play wannabe mc mechanic and push the envelope! My confidence improves each time I do something I have never done before, such as a carb sync! So all I can say is Jump In, the water is deep!!! And while I am at it, THANKS ALL OF YOU!!!
  15. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! Several of us actually enjoy the maintenance requirements. For me I become more knowledgeable as I work on the bike and I become more intimate with the working of what I am riding. I consider it a hobby were I can get away from the worries of the world and find joy with just puttering around the bike. Lastly I like knowing that I have something running as optimally as I can possibly have it!
  16. The things we will do to get it up!!
  17. Wow,! What a great testimony to your Dad. I know he is very proud of the fine son he raised. May God shine on you! Thanks for sharing!

  19. Most of us have used a loaner kit or are about to use a loaner kit, such as myself. I found the best price for shims here: http://www.z1enterprises.com/catalog.aspx?pid=YPEN1B I visited every thread on this website to make myself ready for this task and by far, as usual IMO, V7Goose has the best write up http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38545 So read, and then read some more!! Good luck!
  20. I really like this website: http://www.classicinstruments.com/ that phertwo has found for us and am trying to figure out how to install one of the instrument panels pictured below into the RSTD! Gonna be thinking about that for awhile!!!
  21. I have been telling both my daughters I am ready for grand kids! One mentioned that they were not even married yet?! Who said anything about marriage? I have no interest in a son in law! I just want grand kids!! What the hell am I gonna do with a son in law?? My girlfriend cuts the grass, cleans the house, and is a fantastic cook. All I have to do is maintain my bike. So again, what the hell do I need with a son in law??
  22. Just purchased one on fleabay for $49!!!!
  23. Rick mentioned that with progressive springs we want about 1/2" pre load on our street bikes. To obtain that I measured the inside length of the cap, with a caliper, and obtained 0.638 inches or 5/8". So I install the spring, the washers, the "grey" pvc, and mark the pvc even with the extended fork leg. From there I will cut 1/8" the below the mark on the pvc assuring me of a 1/2 pre-load.
  24. Hard realizing someone who was bigger than life is gone! I love and miss mine! I know you and the rest here love and miss yours! Peace and prayers brother!!
  25. So, we got Venture owners wanting a RSTD look and RSTD owners wanting a Venture look! Actually really, really, like the look you got on yours, Great Job!!
