  1. I generally just figure on about 500 miles in a 10 hour day when solo. That includes gas and food breaks. Maggie likes more frequent stops so I figure on 300 to 400 miles in a 10 hour run. Of course just like everyone else, I have pushed it pretty hard and logged some 800 plus days.
  2. Yep, found one. Just the reflector, not the mount. PM your address to me, I will drop it in the mail.
  3. Thats what I use on mine... I may have one of the original reflectors laying around. I will have a look.
  4. Yeah... we got your number now!
  5. AutoCAD and TurboCAD both run on OSX.
  6. I'm a mac... This has nothing to do with bashing anyone or anything. I have been using Macs for many years. I no longer have any need for windows software. I run heavy engineering and drafting programs. I run normal word processing and pdf software. I really have found nothing in windows, that I want/need that I can't easily do on a mac. I have 'introduced' several friends and colleges to macs. Most have been successful and stayed with them. The ones that were not successful were typically engineers, programmers or heavy users of Microsoft database programs. Seems they have a 'need' to understand and dissect the program's operation or something. I'm not sure why. I have one virtual machine that runs windows 98 simply to interface to some older equipment that some of the hospitals still use and need to be calibrated using a DOS program. Yes, they really do! 95% of people use very little of the capability of most computers and would certainly find the mac operating system simple and intuitive. I would be happy to help you in any way possible. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  7. ? replace the stock ones for adjustable ones. Position the friction zone closer to the grip.
  8. Thanks for the try but it looks like it is for vstars and cable clutches...
  9. Has anyone found adjustable clutch/brake levers for the 2nd gen venture?
  10. Wouldn't it be great to ride your way through that list?!
  11. Hey, I just thought it was an interesting subject. In Va. where I'm from, they have sobriety check points. There they stop everyone. I have never heard of these 'shake down the biker' stops. I just wanted to hear what other's thought. All in all, it has been enlightening...
  12. Seems if you are on two wheels, you need a special 'inspection' to ride on I-95... The Story.
  13. Hhhhhmmmmmmm... you might have a good idea there.
  14. Wish I had seen this before! This is the kind of electronics work I do everyday...
  15. 2007... warranty? I would try the dealer.
  16. My Garmin Zumo 550 died a slow death. It had served me well for about 2 years and 50k miles. A lot of hard rain and plenty of Texas heat. It started by not responding to the touch screen inputs. Sometimes it would correct it's self and work for a day or two. Finally it started making its own selections and became just useless. I shopped around looking for possible replacements. I could pick one up from eBay but there is always a chance of problems and 4-500 dollars is more than I want to risk. I looked at possibly a new one but that too is just more money than I could spare. Finally, out of desperation, I called Garmin. Turn out they have a refurbishment program for most all of their models. The price varies per model. The Zumo 550 costs $150. Get a return authorization, box it up, (just the main unit), and ship it to them. About a week later I received a replacement unit, they don't repair and return yours, they just want to make sure it is repairable. The replacement unit was shiny like new and worked perfectly. All in all, a simple, price effective alternative to buying a replacement. Thumbs up to Garmin.
  17. Looks good on there. One suggestion. Most racks have something at the mount points to spread out the load so you don't crack the abs. Yamie uses a chrome flat strap that spans the distance between front and rear mount points. I have seen goldwings with a large round chrome piece about the size of a large fender washer. You might look around.
  18. I tried to buy XP pro the other day and the local Frys did not have any, only win 7. I have tried to load xp over w7 but it popped up 'You can not upgrade with this version of windows'. Ended up formatting and clean install. Damn, I hate windoz...
  19. Hand guns are like anything else. Cheap, ($200) to expensive, ($1000+). Reliability is of utmost importance in a 'carry' gun. If you need it, its got to work. There are many good hand gun manufacturers out there. Its the Ford vs Chevy thing for most guys. I prefer Sig Sauer. Ammo for target/practice is not really expensive. I buy 1000 rounds of 9mm for under $400. 30 to 40 cents per round for practice is not bad. Defense ammo runs maybe 55 to 80 cents per round but you don't usually buy bulk. Here in Texas gun ranges, both indoor and outdoor, are easy to find. Shooting competitions and training is also easily accessible. I practice at least monthly, sometimes more often. Just like riding the scooter, it's a social thing. Only difference is this group of friends enjoy shooting. This is only my personal opinion.
  20. If you would consider an auto... my daily carry is a Sig P238, .380acp. Easily concealed and capable. I am small in stature and the fit is great. Very comfortable on the bike IWB at 4 o'clock. If not on the bike I prefer the Sig P239 DAK, 9mm. It's a single stack and small enough to be comfortable to shoot. I visit the range monthly and have run thousands of rounds through both with no problem.
  21. Bibbit the Biker B33ch... http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/IMG_0812.jpg
  22. Looks like it would work for those occasions you are riding with friends. You don't really need coverage more than a mile or two. Here is a mounting/interface option I found... easy on , easy off...
  23. Plus 1 on this idea. I use one about like it when 'Bibbitt' rides with me.
  24. This is just a preview of things to come. Watch out! First its the pipes on your bike. Then before you know it, you got a pirate tat on your left arm and an 'orange and black' HD shirt. Next is your favorite Lazy Boy has been moved to the garage. Then she's got you wearing socks that match. There is just no end. It's a power grab! Nip in the bud!
