New Pricing on my Hitch Flag Mounts In The Classifieds Area
FuzzyRSTD replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Watering Hole
Take a look at them in the classified section ragtop. I think it will. It is made for a 1 1/4" regular hitch, but I think there is room to tighten onto a 1 1/8" Hitchdoc. I called the Hitchdoc company and ask what the measurements where of their Receiver and hitch connection. I found out that I could also make a Flag Mount for these if someone wants one and request it. I will not keep any in stock unless I get some inquiries or orders for the Flag Mounts. I have several of the hitch clamps in stock. They work wonderfully. You would need room to put it on and the tighten the bolt. Here is a picture of Long Tall's bike with one on it and also one on my Flag Mount on my bike. Just click on these to get the larger image. My Bike. Long Tall's Cooler attachment with Hitch Clamp. Thanks for looking... I hope I can help. Kind Regards, Fuzzy :usa:- 2 replies

I do not know the exact advised weight on the receiver right now, but I think it is somewhere around 20 lbs. The receiver is held on with two rigid bolts on each side. I would think they would hold more than 20 lbs, but the bike would feel heavier in the rear, but not that much when riding solo anyway. I think it is a great idea, and for the Tour Deluxe especially. We do not have the extra weight and wind drag from the trunk as would the Venture. But yet we have the same suspension. Extra lights would be a good idea though. Just my thoughts. I like it a lot. I am going to build me one. Aluminum would be a good option maybe to build it out of. Fuzzy

Dan I think you can get those from Wall Mart ... Not what he has, but that seems to be just a regular beaded seat cover to me ? Fuzzy

I saw this same video on the world news or a documentary last night. They where talking about how people are using their pets and placing signs on them to depict a funny scene. Then they talked about animal videos, and included this one to. Saying that was not cropped and was very good. I did see a hesitation in the last part as if they cut some of it out. I may have sit there for a while before they where able to get around to it. Again, a neat video. Fuzzy

I have a small cooler ( six bottled waters ) that I put on my passenger seat and strap it on. I leave the lid so that I can open it when needed and use this while on some long rides. I put bottled water in that has been half frozen in the freezer. I then fill to the top with water. I also put in some ice from the motel I usually stay at. In really hot weather the bottled water will stay cold the most of the day. I use a bandanna or big handkerchief soaked in the cold ice water from the melting. Wring it out a little and put this around your neck while riding and you would not believe how cool and comfortable this is during hot weather riding. I did this when my riding buddy JD and I went to Lake Erie and around the shore line and through Michigan and down through the middle of Indiana this year. It was really hot at that time. Nice up around the Great Lakes, but after leaving the lakes and into Michigan it was so dry and hot. I used the wet handkerchief around my neck and when we arrived at the hotel that evening, the wet handkerchief was brown/red from the hot dust in Indiana. We had a very good ride. It was around the week end of Memorial Day. I would think that some kind of a insulated blanket around the cooler would help also Long Tall. As far as his brake light goes, I am glad you considered that and that you also have extra lighting under your trunk. Fuzzy

I agree with GeorgeS. I also run a little Sea Foam in my fuel at every fill up. I keep it, and a 35 mm film canister in my saddle bag. I pour from the can into the canister and then into the tank. I wrap the can in a rag and pit it in a plastic gallon zip bag also. I put in at least a 1/2 oz at every fill up. The carb sync would be a very good idea. Fuzzy

I think so to David. But jilldwr has a 99 RSV. That's why I thoroughly explained everything. Fuzzy

Those are neat Leland. What kind of material is that in between the armrest please ? Is that 1/8" steel with a nice powder coating ? Or is it some other material, such as fiberglass ? I checked out the site and does not really give that information or I missed it. Fuzzy

#1. Part of your question as follows in my view...*No sir, you will not be able to remove the rear wheel with just the center stand. #2. Why remove the center stand ?...* I have a 2007 Royal Star Tour Deluxe with a used Yamaha center stand mounted. I never have to remove it to jack the bike up to remove the rear wheel ??? #3. I bought my center stand and the attaching bolts from Ponch here on this site. Ponch told me and taught me this; A. Nice to have the center stand when winter comes and you want to lift your bike up off the tires for winter storage. B. Carry a 9 1/2 " long piece of 2" X 4" with you at all times in your saddle bag. Use the 2" X 4" to place under and in front of the rear tire. Pull the bike onto the 2" X 4" and stop when it is sitting on the 2" X 4". Now put your bike onto the center stand. This makes it much much easier. Also in the event that you have a flat on the front while traveling, after you have the bike on the center stand. While applying some lift to the front end, remove the 2" X 4" from under the rear tire and put this 9 1/2" long 2" X 4" up and down length ways in under the frame in the front to get the weight off the front tire to fix it. Also you can do this in the winter to give the front wheel a good cleaning to. **I carry a Wall Mart cheap cigarette type plug in air compressor in my saddle bag, with a new tire plug kit. You can temporarily fix a flat on the front or rear if you have a center stand. My feeling is that you would need to get the weight off the tire to properly fix and inflate the tire. Don't forget the 2" X 4" to fix the front and to aid in getting the bike on the center stand. If you do not have a cigarette type plug on your bike, you can put alligator clips on the power ends of the air compressor and simply remove the seat and place on the battery terminals.** C. To lift the bike upon to the center stand. Grab the handle bar with your left hand. This is after you have put down your side stand. Grab the rail around your hard bag with your right hand. Put your right foot firmly on the center stand spur and hold pressure down on it as you you lift and pull the bike toward the rear. You may have to try a few times, but it does get easier after a few trial runs. D. To put the bike back down. Sit upon the bike and with your side stand down, gently roll the bike forward and off the center stand while watching and being careful of the side stand. Now that your center stand is up, you can put the side stand up. ** If your side stand is interfering with your center stand. You can very carefully grind the very end of the center stand off. I did mine while applying cold wet rags to keep from building up heat and damaging the chrome on the side stand. Worked fine and no damage. ** The higher the rear tire is off the ground, the easier it is on the old body anyhow. I did see a first gen at Don's MD that had the front wheel off, and the n the rear also. But with these second gen bikes, I would jack them up on a good bike jack or bike lift. I use a bike lift from Harbor Freight that I got a good deal on. I also use my center stand to hold the bike up while on the bike lift. For you still have to have the weight of the bike onto something. I hope this helps you with your center stand jlldwr. Regards, Fuzzy

Long Tall, that looks great my friend. Thanks for the pictures here. I may use one of them on my web site if that is OK with you Sir. I thought you would be be pleased with the Hitch Clamp. Those things work really well and add an extra security to the Hitch and Receiver connection. A pretty good peace of mind, and takes all the wiggle or play out of the accessories or trailer connection. Thank you for mentioning my Hitch Clamp product Long Tall. I am glad you are happy. Regards, Fuzzy :usa:

I agree with the others that the old fuel pump was not putting the fuel to the carbs as it should have. I have gotten 45 mpg ever since my bike was new. Some thought that there was no way, and or I did the checking wrong. But, just as yousound like you did, I carefully checked it several times. I do have after market louder open pipes and I did a K&N air filter and synced my carbs. If the bike is not smoothly running, a carb sync would be good to. But if you feel nothing at all in the way the engine runs, then do not worry about the carb sync. Fuzzy

Harley Death "Wobble"
FuzzyRSTD replied to ronjolly's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
My friend JD Holbrooks rides a Harley Road King and he experienced the death wobble in West Virginia as we where on a ride and he was going into a curve at a little faster speed than was posted, but not a dangerous stupid speed. He is a good responsible rider and we have a great respect for each other and the motorcycles we ride. It scared me and him both to a point that we stopped and took an hour brake before we returned back to riding. He was in front of me and almost completely lost it, but right as he was going into the guard rail, with the help and mercy of God, he regained enough control to get it slowed down and back into the road. I was riding the same speed behind him and I could not figure out what in the world caused the wobble. I thought that maybe his kick stand came down or something. That experience really made a believer out of me and JD. Will his next bike be a Harley, I do not know about that, but for me, I think I will stick to something else because of that very day and experience that really made me sick to my stomach thinking about the what if, into the guard rail. Thank God JD was not hurt and no other traffic was behind us. No disrespect to those with a Harley, but it is true and please be aware. I saw it with my own eyes, and it was unreal. The wobble was very dramatic and sharp at an instance. PS: Prayers for your friend. I hope he recovers quickly. When he feels like it, ask him what happened and let us know. Fuzzy -
Sorry Dave, but I have checked my self. I have had only one customer that asked if I shipped and when the shipment was going to be in their procession. I did ship it regular mail and not Priority Mail ( 2-3 days guaranteed). I have tracked them myself over and over. I also sometimes send a tracking number via e-mail to make sure the customer gets his tracking #. I ask the customer to leave me a review and send an e-mail if they have a problem. I have had not one problem besides the one mentioned. However I did stop shipping anywhere USPS regular mail, that did seem to be a problem. I now ship all Priority Mail, no regular mail, and I have shipped all over the USA. The problem with UPS or Fed Ex is getting the package dropped off to one of their locations or picked up here. There was one location in Morehead,KY, and it has since gone out of business. The USPS is so much more convenient to ship for me from home. I built a small 16" X 16" plat form on the side of my mail box and leave the packages there of the morning. The cost is not the main reason for me to use USPS. However you have caused me to wonder and think about getting some more information on UPS, for I have always been a fan of UPS for my incoming shipments in the past with BassPro Shops and so forth. I also used them all the time when I was the shipping receiving manager at a local Heat Pump Factory in Olive Hill, KY. I have received several items USPS though in the last year and have had no problems, other than the Mail Man antics that you all saw that I posted about. The same Mailman ran over my Mother's little dog that she had just given a bath and it laid down in the driveway to sun itself. The Mail carrier ran right over it's head and killed it instantly. He did not even apologize, the Jerk.

I agree with Goose. I ship my Flag Mounts with USPS all the time. No problems and tracking information is always a breeze. So easy to do my own shipping. I just picked up some of boxes you mentioned and I believe you are being hoodooed on the shipping of by about $8.00. And the pin is surely not that much, WOW. The small flat rate priority boxes are about $6.00 for I think 4 LB of shipping weight any where in the USA. I just picked up some to ship my 1 1/4" Hitch Clamps in. I had to figure the shipping in the price at $6.00 to cover shipping expenses. this is a clamp that attaches to the 1 1/4" stinger part of a hitch also to secure it to the hitch receiver and take all the play in the hitch to receiver connection out. Works really well as an added safety feature and removes all the play. I will have them in the vendors classified area soon. Fuzzy

I run Avon Venoms on both ends and no problems and when it comes time for my third tire changing, I will do the same again. I would not mix them and would take it back and do the Avon Venoms Bias on both ends myself. Fuzzy
