  1. My bike did the same thing at about the same mileage (1,700) on a ride about 3 weeks ago. I was in Virgina, about 500 miles from home. It sounds a whole lot worse than it is. I found a Yamaha dealer there that was real good about the problem and her fixed in about an hour for me. Don't no anything about filing anything off though, that sounds fishy. Don't have break sgueal. I am sure some of these fine folks on this web site can assist you with that. Please let us know what the filing is supposed to do. And by the way, I really like the ride of these bikes, they have there problems like anything else, but surley once you get them fixed the problems go a way. Safe riding...... James
  2. Thanks Goose, I posted my mpg of average 44 (after Roadhouse pipes and K&N filters, blocked AIS) at different speeds. The results from others almost made me think that I had made a big mistake. So I very critically checked again and the same numbers appeared. I even felt as if some thought I lied about it. But it is still 44 mpg. Only time lower is when I get one of those, wonder what 90 mile an hour would feel like right now, and then I think about the wife and kids and return to reality and 55. Thanks for all your work and the good articles. James
  3. Go with Roadhouse pipes and do the AIS sytem block. I also changed out air filters to the K&N filters. All very easy done yourself with the help of these fine folks here. My bike sounds like; well somebody said a corvette on steroids. I would agree, not to loud, but meaty and loud when you get into the throttle. So far pipes are doing fine - 2,500 miles. You can shop around and find the Roadhouse pipes very resonable priced. Dennis Kirk will match price, just give webb site info. I posted a lot info on this about a month ago. Running about 55 - 65 -80 speed ( 44 average mpg, very criticle about checking this).
  4. Rick Butler did my stock seat and I rode lower and farther than ever on any bike I have ever owned. He has a info section in the classifieds at top of page here. The only regret is that I might have added some gell if it where possible.
  5. Didn't help the wine in mine. Going to take to dealer next week for basket change. James P.S Don, please do let us know of the outcome. Thanks.. Oh ya, the mechanic here told me that he had done a few and fixed them all.
