  1. Anyone know of a decent cover for the back of the somewhat polished aluminum passenger floor board. It looks so dull, ecspecially after the chrome backing plate I installed and the chrome stick ons on the side covers. The new OEM chrome passenger floor boards are $230.00, I really do not want to spend that much money:mo money:. Maybe there is a chrome cover for the underside of the floor board that wouldn't be so pricey. Does anyone own a cover that could give some info, and if so please give pics? Thanks for any and all help or info. James
  2. Glad I checked this out. I am gonna take the rascal out and lock tite it before the trouble comes home to me. ***Things to do list to the bike this winter, plus some special cleaning and putting the Rick Butler stand under it and the battery tender terminals and well.... Oh Ya, like that phrase Goose,"If you don't do it, you are gonna loose it." Thanks you all, James
  3. Does anyone know of a not so exspensive, winter time, full face helmet, that does not fogg up. I have tried the antifogging stuff, does not work for me. I also tried folding aluminum foil up and sticking under shield to hold open slightly, no good either.I have read a little on here about a helmet that has an extra shield for this ?? The local dealer could not help me, he said he knew of a stick on stuff or something like that ? I know there is got to be loads of fellow riders who are looking for a warm full face that does not fogg up ( so dangerous that I stopped riding until I can do better ). Thanks in advance.
  4. Had the 'I' basket put in my bike (07 RSTD). Helped, but still there. My advice would be; if you can stand it, just put the miles on it and ride. There are other choices for the gear change beside the 'I' gear.Check out Rick Butlers posts on this. It (I basket) put more slack in my gear /transmission . Still love my Yammy Ride, through thick and thin it still gets me there. Most comfortable ride out there....
  5. Go with Rick Butler on this. Believe you me, you will probably be satisfied, very satisfied. I am very comfortable on my RSTD now. I did the looking and replying to several E-mails and Rick was the way to go. Please have your seat done also. Make sure to give him all your information on seat hight and forward or back and so forth. He will explaine to you and he also will turn around your seat and have you riding before you you know it. The shipping cost is what surprised me. Give Rick a call. James
  6. Go Deluxe, I did and then had Rick Butler from this site modify my seat, and you talk about comfortable. Good luck either way.
  7. Thanks Squeeze, it was the head gasket and improper tourge from factory.
  8. Yamaha changed clutch basket in mine and it is now comfortable, not completely gone, but not annoying like it was before. Love the comfort and power of the ride. Most comfortable on the market.
  9. Head gasket leaking Dragon. Hopefully get bike back soon. :cool10:Thanks for your reply. James:fishin:
  10. Ya! Me Too .............
  11. I have an oil leak, 4-6 running drips at about 40 mile or so when hot, that shows up on the left side of engine (sitting on bike). The oil is coming from front of engine and running out just behind that chrome bolt and large washer that kinda protrudes out from front middle, left side of engine. The mechanics say it is the O-ring seal that is between starter and engine ? It was replaced, and I checked, it was leaking before I got home from dealer(160 mile round trip). I first thought it was just some oil residue from the intial leaking. But it is not. Mechanic says can't get to it until next week. :bawling:I have been waiting on him now for 2 weeks. He says that the seal is really hard to get to, and was possible that it got pinched when replacement was done. 1..What do you all think it is? 2..Has anyone else had this problem? 3.. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help and ideas, 2 cents or what ever. Thankyou........... James Update on oil leak *** Took back to same dealer mechanic yesterday afternoon (Mon. August 25) . He said he would check it out again, early next morning. No word today-(Tues. August 26). I will probably call the mechanic tommorrow. Update *** Mechanic called (Wed. August 27 ) problem solved I hope. Mechanic says that there was a bulliton out about this and he just now discovered it; the head bolt tourge on some of these bikes was improperly set from factory. So I had an oil leak from head gasket. Oil was coming from behind that head cover, when he took off, he said that it was very obvious. Hopefully get bike back this week. I called Yamaha's customer service and complained; Yamaha promised me $200.00 in merchandise set up at dealer. So I am happy again, as long as bike is fixed this time. Another update; no bike yet. Still at dealers.(Monday,September 15 th , no word yet.) **Finally got my bike back, Wed. Sept. 25, 2008. Problem fixed, head gasket replaced, back to riding again. Boone said that this was the first in 12 yrs that he had worked on this kinda problem with the 1300 engine. Ther was a bulletine put out from Yamaha on this 2007 yr model bike. The head bolts where not properly tightened. Well I am just glad to back to riding again.
  12. Thanks George, but this is not seepage. It runs as a drip from behind that bolt and out and down side of engine. Not only bad for engine if gets worse, but also can get to your pants leg. It will run about four to six drips out from there in about 40 mile or so. I can't figure why it all of sudden started this leak after about 1200 break in miles ? That is what kinda causes me to think maybe leaking from somewhere else, exspecially after the o-ring seal was replaced, case cover maybe or something? Thanks
  13. Sorry, just noticed that I posted in wrong forum. I have an oil leak that shows up on the left side of engine (sitting on bike). Any suggestions? Problem solved. Head gasket leaking. Bolts noe prperly tourged from factory. 9/03/08
  14. Sorry could not make the trip, the knee surgery and everything here would not allow the trip. Would love to try and make the next one though. Thanks again.... Got to do physical therapy.. Fuzzy
  15. Dennis, I appreciate the invite. I would like to try to make it, if my knee will let me. I had knee surgery last Monday and it is still a little swollen. Still using one crutch, but think if everything still healing OK by then. If knee and doctor will let me, I might try. Would like to bring along a long time friend( JD Holbrooks)that rides with me a lot if OK, he rides a Harley, but I don't hold that against him. JD and I have been Christians for a long time. Thanks again. Could you give some more driving directions to Cracker Barrel. Are you talking about the one just off 75 at US 60 ? And how about posting this Meat & Eat at the Meat & Eat site on the forums? James Darrell Fultz
  16. Been getting around 44 mpg average cruising. Roadhouse pipes, K&N filters, plugged AIS system. No rejetting, OH YA ! had carbs synced.(important on these bikes). Running Regular, the cheapest stuff runs great in these bikes. Thats one up also. Fuzzy
  17. Took my bike to the dealer on Monday,July 14 th and got her back Thursday,July 24 th. The visit was for the normal high pitch wine. It became so annoying that something had to give. It is still there somewhat, but a whole lot better. It also developed a oil leak that was said to come from behind the starter ? An O- ring seal. It was replaced and no oil leak now. It wasn't a lot of oil,but was there and slowly running down the side of the motor. I now have my bell attached to my bike and hope that all the road demons are going to leave me alone. Fuzzy P.S. Will send picture of oil leak, if I can get it attached. http://bl109w.blu109.mail.live.com/att/GetAttachment.aspx?tnail=19&messageId=2a03a638-4496-4f81-8e9a-a3327486b09d&Aux=44|0|8CABE89B7C760F0|
  18. Glad you synced them carbs Spyder, I did and it really made a big differance. Me and my ride get 44 average MPG, critically checked at same pump. I have roadhouse pipes and K&N filters, plugged AIS system. James
