They are a nice piece of electronics to have Ronald. I purchased the Garmin 750 at Wally Worlrd for $ 179.00 on line, shipped to store, no shipping charge. It is brand new, not refurbished. I like it a lot so far. PROS; 1. I can see it, large letters and map on screen. 2. It has a nice mp3 player, that I can hear up to 40 mph. (I have Road house pipes, loud but not to loud) 3. It has a ear phone jack. 4. The mount that comes with it works perfect, just stick it to the chrome speedadometer cover, works perfect there. 5. Well worth the money. 6. Very good mount comes with it. 7. Power cord and computer hook up comes with it. 8. Easy to figure out. Cons; 1. Not loud enough to hear above 40 mph. (I have Road house pipes, loud but not to loud) 2. Not water proof, but not $ 500.00 - $ 700.00 either. 3. After charging battery, it last about three hours. (Need cig. plug on bike for power.) 4. You have to go to the webb to retrieve the owners manual.

Just wondering if there is an exsisting power plug somewhere on my 2007 Tour Deluxe. Wish it had the cigerett lighter type plug somewhere up front. (I saw one in JC-Whittney for around $18.00, chrome attaches to handle bars). I quess the Ventures probably have a plug on fairing, or should have. So I quess I will run the power for this from the extra power source that I read about from one of the Goose,s Tech post. I ordered a Garmin 750 ($179.00 including tax- Wallmart online) that operates from a cigerett type plug, that way I can also use it in the car/truck. I know there are more expensive GPS, but I went the poor man route. The ones made for bikes are 650 dollars to as much as 800 dollars, shewwwww.Any and all help from youall is appreciated, thank you in advance. James Oops, I just relised that I posted in venture tech SORRY.

Help, broke down 2,000 miles from home
FuzzyRSTD replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have been keeping up with your bike problem Seaking and was wondering if you got going and what was the problem, the coils or switch ? Good Luck and hope the best and a safe ride for youall. -
Thanks to everyone for your help and imput. I thought I would let all know what I finally decided to order. I ordered the Garmin 750, it has the ear phone jacks and mp3 player all the bells that I need, Wallmart for $179.00 tax and all. Shipped to nearby store so no ship charge. The e-bay units went for around that price on bidding and they where refurbished. Wallmart unit is new. Thanks again, and like the idea of maybe attaching to tank bib with velcro tape...
-
Thanks albumny, I have decided to get one for the car and one for the bike. Maybe the Garmin 750, it has mp3 and headphone jack and looks and reads to be a fairly nice unit. On E-bay for $79.00 a piece refurbished with yr warranty. I would buy two for that price. After really giving it some thought, I would like to withdraw that quote about just money. As someone said I don't have that much either. I started working at a sawmill (hard work - low pay ) for the minium wage when I was 16 yr old and I do relise the value of a buck earned. After weighing the real need for one of these, I am going cheaper and using a sandwich bag... Oh Ya!! and thanks for the pictures too.

Thanks Kieth, I am leaning toward the Zumo 660. I found a decient price on Wallmart site last night. I will check these forums out. THANKS It's just money, and everybody knows your not taking it with you. Man would this thing have really been a help to us on our last ride, on our way home, tired and wore out, looking for a room and trying to find phone numbers and locations.
-
Thanks Massey , I did try that last night after posting. Found out a lot that I did not know about the GPS world and all the differant units and prices, wow.

Anyone got any suggestions for the best GPS unit for a motorcycle ? I need one that I can see well, big screen I quess. Probably could not hear it anyway (maybe with a ear phone jack plug). I plan on maybe just sticking it on windshield when need to use. I borrowed my sisiter's GPS unit the other day on a trip to Louisville,KY, used it in the car. I likey it, neet how it worked so well. My wife actually wants to buy one. So I agreed as long as I get one that I can use on the bike also. I know that I will have to probably spend around $ 250.00 - $ 350.00 I apreciate any and all your suggestions. Thanks.... James

I agree with Kbay. I put Roadhouse exhaust on my bike (sounds like a corvett on steroids:680:) and did the AIS bypass and also had carbs synced after install. I am sure someone will help you out.

Thanks a bunch Goose, I always like reading your threads and your no nonsense way of approaching any cituation:backinmyday:. I am trying the Avon Venoms now, about 2000 miles ago. I am trying them based most of all on your threads about these tires. Sounds like now, that maybe I might be putting on a set of E-3 s in the future. Hopefully in about the 14,000 mile future. Thanks again for all your help and for your work to put this information together for all to see. You are not a selfish person and I admire that in anyone. James

Take care Jeff, I don't know you personaly, but just wanted to say THANNK YOU for what you are doing. Be safe and God speed to you and yours. James

I noticed them here on I-64 also.

I feel the same about the Brickstones Gregg. You would think that Yamaha would go with, perhaps the Avon Venoms or some other brand. :backinmyday:I put a set of Avons on my 2007 Tour Deluxe just 4,000 miles into the break in. I really love these Avons so far. And for the car tire senareo, I think car tires are made for cars, not bikes. Just my two cents. James
