  1. The wife says she would like to take me to Logan's Roadhouse (my favorite) for a steak dinner in Barboursville, WV tomorrow after church . I like that idea but really would just as soon stay at home and cook on the grill. Happy Fathers Day to all. Also thinking about those whom have lost their Dad recently. I miss my Father in Law, he was just like a Daddy to me. Fuzzy
  2. I read a post from Goose and he stated that you can inspect the rear pads from behind the right rear bag. I did as he said and it was no problem. Just get you a long screw driver and pop the plastic cover off, then have a bright small flashlight and your spectacles to see the brake lining. The cover pops right back on with the use of the screw driver to push down upon the cover once placed in position. My pads where in the 1/4" use range. The inside was around 3/16" while the outside was 1/4". So for those of you whom have changed and have experience with brakes. I am wondering though, just how much pad can I depend upon until change time ? Do the original pads have rib-bits in them, or are they clued? If clued then I may be looking at about another 4,000 miles till change time? The bike has 13,000 on it now, 2007 model. I also checked my Avon Venom tires with a bright flashlight for cracks. There was none. So I am pleased. They are two years old and 8,000 miles. So I am happy about that. But I am somewhat concerned about the brakes, since I have no prier experience with them. Thanks to Goose for the information on checking the pads. Thanks to all in advance for any help deciding on the pads to change. I do know that when I change, I think I need to use the EBC double H sintered pads. I saw some here in the classifieds for $ 27.00 . Fuzzy
  3. Sorry Joe, I will remember that next time. I did not take one single picture. I could have used my phone and did that. Maybe if I can find the cord to download and take a few now. I have never tried it on this lap top. Nice meeting you at Freebirds. Don't want to get something else started here, but I am so glad you did not get hurt in the trailer accident some time ago. God was watching over you, I am sure. Fuzzy
  4. Welcome, hope they work fine for you. I did not have any issues with the install at all. They are made to fit 1" crash bars (fine print). The adjustment was kinda funky if you do it by yourself. I would suggest get on the bike and get into riding position with the side stand down and have someone move them for you till comfortable. I had no help and it took longer to adjust than to install. The finish is not pure chrome flashy, but they work great, and for the money you can not beat them. Mine are three yrs old and are not rusted or pitted. The platform for your feet is very sturdy and big enough to be comfortable. I have mine installed low enough that I even stick my feet past them and prop up to stretch my legs on long hauls. Fuzzy
  5. Not a Ham radio operator, but I have radioed for the past 32 yrs. I monitor channel 23 AM side (27.2550) here and this is the locals channel. We primarily radio in the winter months. My handle is Bowhunter. My antenna is around 2000 ft upon the ridge behind my home. I ran a lot of hard line to get there. Just an old Antron antenna around 30 ft in the air. I have a Ranger 2980 base with D104 Silver Eagle mike and sometimes run a little fire on the wire. Sounds like a nice event, hope you find something interesting to radio with. Fuzzy
  6. Mmmm, so looks like I got another 8-10,000 left to ride on mine. I have around 8.000 on my Avons now. My buddy JD put a set of Dunlop 404s on his Road King at the same time and has around the same miles. His back tire is really getting close to change. I ran the Dunlop on a Honda Magna 750 V45 and they would last around 8,000 and that was it. Tried two sets and same results. I have to admit that I got on it pretty hard sometimes though. That bike was a super quick V4 cylinder and handled the twisties with ease. I hated the little 100 mile tank though. Fuzzy
  7. Hope they work out Freebird. I have not had any issues with my Avon tires. But since reading all this about the cracking issue, then I am persuaded to give mine a close look see. The Avon Venom have proved to be really well in the rain and the ride is excellent. Fuzzy
  8. This is what I have on my bike. They work fine and are very comfortable, I have had several people to ask me where I got them. JC Whitney for cheap. http://www.jcwhitney.com/fold-up-highway-floorboard-set/p2006697.jcwx?filterid=c14704j3 Fuzzy
  9. Sorry to hear Joe. May God comfort you and yours in these times of sorrow. Fuzzy

Fuzzy PS; Glad you like the home made S mores.
  11. Glad to here he is safe, and please thank him for me. I was wanting to hear you say that he was going to enjoy his retirement and ride with you. Sometimes life makes that hard to do, so I understand. Hope you have a safe trip. Fuzzy
  12. I went by the new Yamaha shop going in on St Rt 801 here in Rowan county today. It looked as if it wont be long till grand opening. I have not heard anything on the radio yet though. Will post when it opens for business. It is at the St Rt 801 to Cave Run Lake exit from I-64. It is only 1/4 mile from the interstate. I heard that they will also be selling Honda. Fuzzy
  13. Thank you for the information. I will give this some thought. Money is always a problem now a days. How much for bridge tolls in american moneys. ? Never heard of this before. Toll roads, but not bridges. Fuzzy
  14. Thank you much. Fuzzy
  15. Factory size, Avon Venoms all the way...... Fuzzy
  16. Some good news......... But last week, the fair board with two Sturgis companies, Custom Biker Wear and Cycle Works, said they will keep the rally going, using the dates — July 14-17 — Little Sturgis had scheduled. The new event will be called Kentucky Bikerfest. Mmmm, interesting how the world turns. Seems that Sturgis was jealous of little Sturgis; litigation in U.S. District Court in Rapid City, S.D., where the Sturgis, S.D., Chamber of Commerce is suing Little Sturgis over a possible trademark infringement to its older, more famous biker event, led to the decision to cancel this year's rally. A shame this is happening. Really a human error is taking place here. This event has been going on for so many yrs and helping so many. I have never been to either one. But have read a lot about both events for several yrs. This is no small error people, I am sometimes/a lot of times ashamed of what is going on in our wonderful country. Just because of a few. We should never let/allow these things to happen. Fuzzy
  17. The best improvement to my ride. Mmmmm, would have to be the 12 bucks I spent to join this bunch of bike nuts and bolts and screwballs and have a ball doing it myself. Life is like a Venture, glad I can ride along. Fuzzy
  18. Ya, sometimes. But it is a good kinda pain. Do it yourself and know that it is done correctly. These folks and this site will allow you to do that. The best $12.00 bucks I ever spent on the bike. Someone has a thread dedicated to the upgrades, chrome thingys and so on done to thier ride. I would have to say that the money spent to be part of this site is the best upgrade ever to my ride. :cool10::cool10: Fuzzy
  19. Yep, me too. Been there and done that one too. Sometimes it don't work right for me either. Ya, nice to know that I am not by myself.:smash2::smash2: I would have posted this earlier, but did not find it so quick. Fuzzy

  22. Thanks Goose. I never even give it a thought. My bike has 13,000 or so now. I have never looked. Shucks this would have been a Freebird Maintenance Day thing for me. I will put this high on my list for after work tomorrow evening. I will have to say that I have not noticed any unusual noise/grinding back there though. Fuzzy
  23. Nice looking couple Monty. Congratulations, hope they are together forever and always happy. As someone else said, please thank the young men for their service to our country for me..... Now for them there grand youngins. :cool10::cool10: Fuzzy
  24. Today I put the bike on the lift and did as Ponch said and put a small piece of rubber on the passenger side of the center stand to stop the stand just about 1/8 inch from hitting my pipes. I then did as some recommended at Freebirds MD and used a grinder to very slowly and precisely grind the tip of my side stand off just a very little. This is to let it pass the center stand. I used a wet rag to keep it cool while doing this, and so not to cause the chrome to come off later. I got it to 1/8" of the center stand to pass. I then sprayed some black gloss paint into the lid of the can and used a twisted piece of paper towel to carefully paint the grind end of the side stand. Once fixed I then put my hydraulic floor jack under the bike while on the lift and raised the bike enough so that I could put the center stand down. Worked great, solid on the lift. I also cut myself a 9 1/4" 2x4 and put it my saddle bag. Very satisfied customer Ponch. Thank you and thanks to all for advise. 25. Thanks everyone for your input. Today I pushed the bike up and it worked fine. Like Micarl said, you have to hit the front tire clamp just right. So for now I will not build a platform. I drilled one hole in each side to let me tie the front forks down and not interfere with anything else. I also cut myself two pieces (2"x2") of an old mudflap (rubber) and put them under the leveling/locking feet on the front of the lift. This kept the lift from trying to slide forward while loading the bike on. Worked great. Very impressed with the lift, satisfied. Fuzzy
