    A quick carb sinc might help. My bike was out early after new, but I had put on the after market exhaust (Roadhouse pipes) and had done the AIS ststem plug, it is here http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=485 . I was getting the back fire after the pipe change. There might be someone close to your area that can do the carb sinc for you. Or a Maintenance Day close to your area. If not, the dealer should do this for you at no or very little charge on the first service. I do the service oil/rear end gear and axle lube/rear differential oil grease change myself after the first service. Of course there is some break in period to allow for also, before a better MPG, I would think. Hope that might help, I am just a shade tree mechanic. I could not have done any of this with out the help of this forum, well worth the $12.00 a yr. I know some other more knowledgeable mechanics will chime in here and help you out even more. Fuzzy

    Surely some remember the memorial ride in Lexington with Midrsv. Had a great time. I am just now downloading some pictures from my phone. I can not get the videos to work after downloading to my computer though.

    Welcome I just came here to tell you that I saw the thread on the brackets, then realized that you where the one that posted there. So glad it worked out for you. $7.00 plus shipping sounded cheap enough to me. Rick Butler in the classifieds here also does a good job making the seats fit you better. He did mine, costed more to ship it than for him to do the job. Fuzzy

    Like someone told me, do not go cheap here. Throw them in the garbage and get you a new set from Michael/Chad in the classifieds here. Those look like they are glazed over and worn. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3569&title=ebc-sintered-brake-pads&cat=7 The rear are only $27.00 and the front $30.00 x 2 = $60.00 plus $5.00 shipping. I just ordered a set for the back. Like Goose said, the front wear much slower,and you may not need them now. Use a flashlight and have a look see at your front pads. I just have been going through this process for the first time myself. My bike has 13,000 mile on it now, and the rear look like they need replacing before they get into the $300.00 dollar rotor.     I bought one from Ponch.You should check out his classified for the center stand add /or does he have an add there ? Maybe not, but he will build you everything and send the bolts. He/we put mine on at Freebirds MD. After getting the bike home and doing some mods of my own, it works wonderful. My side stand now passes the center stand and goes all the way up. As suggested by Ponch, I carry a 9 1/4 inch piece 2x4 in my hard bag. Just put the 2x4 under the front of rear tire (makes an almost impossible job of pulling the bike up, easy), pull the bike up onto it and then side stand down and pull down the center stand with the foot and pull bike forward. You can then remove the 2x4 and your rear wheel/tire is off the ground/blacktop. To raise the front wheel, just lift easy and place the 2x4 under the crash bar(this is why it is 9 1/4 inches long). You can even fix a flat on the side of the road with this set-up. I carry a Wall-Mart plug in type to power supply air compressor in my hard bags, and also a fix a flat plug kit.     I have the 765 and it worked fine at first. Then I have the same problem as you now. The plug in for the jack is messed up. It still works, but looses connection pretty often now. I just stick the suction cup (mount came with GPS) to the top of my chrome instrument panel (RSTD). I carry a sandwich baggy too. I bought a small mp3 player for around $25.00 from Wall-Mart and I use it for music, works fine. The GPS still works great for navigation. The Wall-Mart MP3 player is not as loud, so I borrowed my friends, which has the FM radio and cost around $150.00 bucks. It was much louder and the radio worked fine too. So I am thinking that this is the way to go for music.

    Ya, I know what you mean. But also thanks to this forum, you can get opinions on the tires you are looking at, and then if needed, you can grease the splines and all the fingers in the rear wheel while you have this off. Then if you need help to get the wheels back on, well everyone is rooting for you.

    Yammer, I hate this for you. I hope all works out to the best. Some people just make me angry with just this kind of stuff. Man, you just can not trust anyone. Most are just out for the money, that's it, no matter the morals or anything else. I remember when you could go to the store and just walk in and enjoy the trip or what ever. Now it is like this, you start in and someone is rushing ahead of you and maybe knock you down to get in first. The world is in so much trouble, so greedy and no respect or morals at all. So many children are seeing this and being raised this way and it is only getting worse. I have started to become a more raw and straight forward person over this kinda stuff. Just to say, I can feel for you, been there and done that. Shame on me the first time, shame on the them the second time. I am a firm believer that this will come back to them in some way. The whole world acts as if you owe them something. I owe this world nothing, and neither do you. Fuzzy

    Thanks Herb, I ordered the pads from Chad at Power Sports of New York here in the classified section. I ordered the EBC sintered double HH . Should have them soon and will be installing these bad boys myself. I have never ever, in all the years of owning/riding a motorcycle, put a set of brake shoes on one. All that I ever owned had drum type brakes in the rear and they would last forever it seems or at least the 30,000 mile that I put on two different Honda bikes. So about 60,000 - 70,000 mile total of riding both of them. So I am gonna say that some of this new fangled disc brake stuff is another money hungry invention for someone. I never had any problem locking the rear of the bike up when needed with the drum brakes. Just a simple adjustment ever now and a great while is all they ever needed. So I will soon be replacing the brakes and thanks for instructions. Is any needed lubrication or cleaning or sanding that needs to be done while I am doing this ?

    Ya, I saw you there I think. You could not miss me, I had on this leather half hat that said Fuzzy across the front of it. I was there Saturday for most of the day. I really enjoyed the visit and got my center stand installed by the Ponch while there. I love the center stand. I done a lot to my ride before the MD and should have bought rear brakes there and gotten some help to install. Now I am going to have to look this up and figure out what to buy, the double H sinter, or the OEM. Going to start a thread or something if I do not find info soon. I have looked through the Tour Deluxe Tech & Venture library and have not found anything yet. This forum and all these people have been a great help to me also. Fuzzy

    Good to hear of a responsible dealership. Hope you get to attend a Maintenance Day somewhere close to your location sometime. Would highly recommend you attend and learn about these bikes. I do not know your circumstances in life, but for me, I am a shade tree mechanic and love doing some of my own stuff (maintenance). I like the fellowship of meeting people and learning how these beast operate. Wonder why there where o-rings missing in the carbs ? Had someone else worked on it ? Glad you where able to enjoy the rest of your honorable trip to recognize our fallen heroes for freedom. Glad you had a safe trip. Fuzzy

    My garage is 30' wide x 40' long, just big enough. Everyone said to me when I started idea,"Do not build 24' wide, go at least 28' and get 10' wide garage doors." These people all had 24' wide and 9' wide doors. So glad that I listened and built wider and should have gone 8' longer. LOVE THE GARAGE ........... I would not do only 20' wide if I had the room.
