I have run the Avon Venoms for several thousand miles now. I have ridden in the rain and the puddles on I-64 in heavy traffic at Charleston,WV and needed to get to a safe location and shelter. So I can say that I do not agree with the comments that some have made about the water handling issue. They are wearing great and so far the Avons are the best tire I have ever owned for a bike. I would highly recommend that you try a set for yourself. I am sure you would like them, and like me, you would disagree with the locals and the showrooms and the barhoppers. Goose has written several long detailed threads and posts concerning these tires. I would have to say that,in some degree, he has become a tire expert on these matters.:backinmyday: Fuzzy

I checked out the other threads on this plug topic and came up with two plugs. The original NGK-DPR8EA-9 (Napa - $2.29 each, I purchased today) and this plug in a IRIDIUM NGK-DPR8EIX-9 (Napa - $10.00 each). Napa did not recommend the Iridium, when I asked if they knew anything about them. Napa parts person said the Iridium have been known to burn holes or pits in the top of the pistons. I was planning on using the original plugs anyway. So far I have figured out that the tank and dog bones has to be removed to get the plugs out. Any further advise and help in any way here is appreciated. James (Fuzzy)

Gary, take care my friend. You are in our prayers. Glad the filter is working and your home. My mother in law had that done way back when they first started doing the filters. Really helped her a lot. She was, I think the second one in the state of Ky to have this done. Hang in there and plan on wearing the V-maxed machine out. Fuzzy -

I thought this would be good for some to have. Good advise of the best way to ride in different situations. I like it and suppose some others would also. Some people just do not understand the safety issues involved in riding in a group or just a couple bikes. Please keep your speed and distance with the leader and the crowd. Do not be a slacker or a speed freak. It is really fun to enjoy a good ride and not have to worry so much about the process. Just click on the play buttons and check it out. Oh Ya,you can play PAC MAN after you have read it, bottom right corner. Neat stuff that someone has spent a lot of time on. http://www.sunsethog.com/groupRiding.html Fuzzy

How LOW can YOU go?!
FuzzyRSTD replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have saw a small tank at work that some of the volunteer firefighters have. The tanks are made of aluminum and hold about a half gallon or so. They have good tight, sealed lids, and you could get a couple in your side bags. The firefighters carry chain saw gas in there pickups with them. They say they are around $20.00 I think, if memory serves me right. But carrying gas in any way would not be that safe. I am wondering how/what would keep them from expanding and bursting. Fuzzy -

#1.The Flanders bars have two part numbers. The 650-08783 @ http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=650-08783&x=15&y=17 #2.and this part number 650-08373 @ http://www.sideroadcycles.com/ImportedMotorcycles/ImportHandlebars/ImportFat/ImportFLT_Type.html They look like possibly the same :confused24: Which is normally used on the RSTD #1-08783, or #2-08373 ? Thanks for any and all information / insight / warnings / links for best price / advice. I will appreciate it please. Fuzzy

Could you still see out of them ? Figured they where scuffed pretty bad. I hate to loose something like that and never find it. Glad you did. I have lost stuff and said to myself that I believe someone stole it. That was a double bitted ax, and I found it a week later. Where I had misplaced it. Fuzzy

I wish I could help you with your questions, but I can not. I have yet to do this mod, but I am going to do this. I have a question for you. Where did you get your bars and grips and ends and how much, if you do not mind ? Links would be very helpful to. The link for the bars price in Unsungmustang's how to thread would not work for me. I sent him an e-mail about it. He must be riding, because he has not responded as of yet. Also, did this really help as far as pulling the bars back and up somewhat ? My upgrade would be a little more involved because I have speakers and MP3 mount and power outlet attached to my bars. How long did it take you to complete ? Which Flanders factory model # bars did you order ? Fuzzy

I am glad that I do not own a classic first gen. Thank you. I barely can figure out how to hoist the second gen, and getting that last few drops of oil out can be tricky. Do you empty your saddle bags before you hoist her upside down ? The second gen has a very stout latching mechanism on the hard bags, so no need to empty contents. Therefore saving you a little time. Thanks, that is why I could not find this. I looked for an hour last night. So does some put the washer only in the rear or on both bolts between the frame and caliper or on just the rear one or both ? I have heard some say that the wear was 1/16 more toward the rear of inner pad, 1/8 toward the front of inner pad. The outside was 3/16 or more and wore even across the pad.:confused24: Fuzzy

Can not find the post you mentioned, but makes sense to me. Do you have a link to this post please ? Thanks, Fuzzy

Yep, that is what I read. Oh well, the bars are probably better any way. But man I dread taking all that stuff loose. Especially the throttle control. And from what I read you have to drill a hole in the Flanders bars to. Well there goes a Saturday. I will try to get all the stuff ready and do it some rainy day. Fuzzy

Randy, the inside pad was at 1/8" towards the front of bike and only about 1/16" at the rear end of pad. So I replaced the pads. I am going to do the fluid change in both the brakes and clutch. Thanks, Fuzzy The outside pad compared to new The inside pad compared to new, the other end is only 1/16".

You fellows are down right hateful and mean, contrary, sly, pranksters you are. Taking advantage of people that way. You ought to be ashamed of your self's. When I used to work at the sawmill, in my younger days, we would send the new hands, some had college degrees to. We would send them to get the lumber stretchers.Oh Ya, nice trike. Fuzzy

WOW, impressive. I Think I Can, I Think I Can, I Think I Can, I Think I Can, I Think I Can, I Think I Can. Well, maybe.

Still sounds like a bad battery. I would have it tested at your local automobile parts house. "the battery is some what new" How old is the battery ? Fuzzy
