1. Good in, I am amazed at the pictures.....
2. Noticed that too, I belong to that group as well. Maybe we need a new forum started here for the ROYAL STAR POP BELLIES...... Pop bellied James here, and kinda proud of it. This is supposed to happen after 40 anyway aint it ?
3. Ya that Mike. Makes all kind of sense to me. I have had the same problem with the guitar, but and like you say, I have grown older and a bit wiser to difference in the brands and so on. I still pick up a guitar ever now and then and pick The Wild-Wood Flower. C-D&G are all I really ever learned. Yes, would be the same here with the aids. Also why I shopped around for a bike and ended up with the Yamaha. I did a lot of shopping and a lot of internet talking and prying and did the minus/plus this and that, and five yrs later and some money, to finally buy a new Yamaha. James
4. Thanks very much to all. I have been enlightened here once again. I now understand the logic behind a crankcase filter/breather actually. Thanks to all for all your knowledge. James :thumbsup2:
5. MMMMMMmmmm sounds interesting Mama Yama . What do you say ???
6. Nice pictures. Looks like you had a great time, good for you all....
7. Thanks to all for the useful tips. Still thinking. I believe I will try some cheap from Wally -World first, just to see if I can and will wear them. I have talked to so many that have them and they are even paid for (free) and they do not wear them.
8. Wow, so pitiful. So sorry for all involved. Take care and please be careful. I had somewhat of an experience of this same thing last year, only it was a flash flood and no time to get anything. Just get the family up and loaded and drive to high ground. It was close but thank God we lost nothing. We set in the truck and prayed for the rain to stop, it finally did. Only liked about two inches from getting into my garage. Never saw anything like it before in my 47 yrs. It rained 8-9 inches inches in 2 hours. I could only imagine that fire would even be worse. The water was all the way to the back of the barn at one time that night at 2 am. The walk bridge to barn was completely covered and water running through the back yard. Left this log laying on top of walk-bridge once. The picture dates are not correct. As dry as it is here now, I still would rather you have the rain we are getting now than us. Light rain all morning and still raining. I hoping you all would get some from the tropical storms coming in. Thinking of all you all. Fuzzy
9. Bump to top...:thumbsup2:
10. Thanks, but just found out from an e-mail that he was talking about the front factory guards and not the wrap around the side guards. Shoot, I was wanting a set of those for my RSTD for cheap. Thanks for feed back Freebird.
11. Thanks Freebird. What kinda extra mounting hardware should there be ?
12. Will a set off a 2005 RSV fit my 2007 RSTD ? I think they will from what I have seen, but not sure yet .... Thanks, Fuzzy
13. I believe if you added that much sea foam with only 1/2 gallon of fuel, that could be the reason for all the smoke. I have a friend whom bought an old Yamaha 3 cylinder and he did that and said it smoked something offal for a few minutes. Then ran pretty good after that. He said rust blew out of the mufflers for a long time. This bike had been sitting for 15 yrs inside of a garage.
14. Thanks Shannon and Kathy. Prayers for your Daddy and all of you. Please take care and keep the faith, we are all praying for you. We are keeping the church informed and requesting prayer. Fuzzy
15. I saw this on the web and was wondering if any of you all have tried this ? Would this be of real use on these engines, or a no/no ? Claims to give better fuel mileage and looks good/good reviews and so on. But I know nothing of a crank case filter on these engines. So any and all information appreciated here. I would like to know more about a crankcase filter ? Thanks, https://www.denniskirk.com/emgo/crankcase-breather-filter-kit.p301754.prd/301754.sku#tabs Fuzzy

17. There is a proper way of doing this. You should read the proper way to install the axle in the post sent to you from Freebird. You should always torque the bolts to their proper torque also. This is good to do, especially if it is your first time doing this. You should also grease the splines and the fingers in the wheel and all the rest while you have your rear wheel off. All in the tech library for this. Should be the same for first Gens. Hope that helps. Fuzzy
18. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=59791 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=59904 Hope this helps. I think all you will need in any way is in these two threads. Do be very careful with the plastic drain plug. Very easy to break or strip. There is a difference in the antifreeze, so be careful here to. Also get you some distilled water at Wally-World to. This is not a bad job. I drained evreything except the water pump. My bike had I think 13,000 at the time. If I was doing it again, I would have waited until around 20,000 or so. Fuzzy
19. Checking the blog. Got me interested and now I have started a blog for my Bow hunting season this yr. Thanks and keeping an eye on you all Long Tall. Safe trip and holler if you need us. Fuzzy
20. Thank you Dingy. You have spoken for a lot of people whom have been following the thread to the discouraging garage build at Yammers. Now is the time to "Getter Done". ..... Thanks.
21. Thanks for posting. Please keep us posted on the good news and how it adjusts and so on.
22. Nope, they work fine gentlemen. I have the same exact bike (same color too) and they will and do fit. I put them in when I put the after market pipes on my bike. Then I plugged the AIS system, stopped the backfire. Jrsain, how many miles on your RSTD ? Did you buy it new ?
23. My wife does not ride much with me, she just is not a bike rider. When she has, she did very well. Gravel/dirt roads are still not my favorite, but doable. I remember when I was young and riding every where I went. I had a Honda 175 street bike. I road it plum up into October or November. I loved to squirrel hunt and would carry my shotgun on the bike under my but sitting on it and go hunting. I also rode it a fishing to. The smell of raw bass on a stringer, laying on the pipes up front close to the very hot motor, still haunts me. I believe I still smell it, pppuuu. Well anyway I wanted to mention the time that I met someone right after the gravel road (Laurel road) had been graded and I met someone in the very, very long straight stretch and they where driving a Jeep Wrangler (the old model, long one, blue and white). I heard them floor it and came right at me and I had to get close to the ditch and stop. I was on my way squirrel hunting, so I had my old Ivory Johnson 16 gauge. But the dust was so bad that you could not even see for at least 5 minutes in either direction. This was so bad, and I have never forgotten it. I looked and watched for that Jeep and moron for a long time and never saw it again, good thing I guess. But the suggestion to this story is, be very glad you did not meet anyone while on this freshly graveled road. The dust is awful, and people can be morons.
24. I agree, probably your problem. If the AIS has never been plugged that is. Good rite up about doing that here in the Tech section. I would check this first, then carb sync for sure, a regular thing for these bikes. My Tour Deluxe, 07 model, has around 14,000 and I have had the carbs synced twice. It helped both times. I did plug the AIS system on my bike as soon as I put on the after market pipes. It stopped the popping, runs great. The valve adjustment, from what I have read here, is probably due, or close to due (50,000 - 75,000), I would let the professionals from here do that. Even If I had to ride a few hundred miles and pay them to get it done correctly. Maybe someone will chime in on a good mechanic in your area to do a good valve adjustment too. Welcome, and enjoy your new ride. You really come to the right place to get help. A fine and knowledgeable bunch here. Some really good mechanics and some shade tree mechanics like myself. I see you are a trial member. I would highly recommend you paying the $12.00 for a yr of membership. It is worth every dime. It is easy to pay with Pay Pal. You can find all kinds of information here about the backrest. I would also recommend that you put your bike information in your signature and or with your profile picture. This way everyone can see what bike your talking about with out you spending the time telling everyone over and over as you post. Fuzzy
