I have just took on the quest to get the crossbow recognized here in Kentucky. I feel as if we need to include the crossbow in our archery deer season. If anyone can help with this issue, I would be very grateful. Especially members from Kentucky. So far in Kentucky we can only use the crossbow for a very short period of the archery season, unless you are disabled. I think the crossbow should be considered for full inclusion of the archery season. The crossbow uses an arrow with fletching and a broadhead, just as the vertical bow. A bolt was the term used in history when there was a steel or wooden shaft used with out any vanes or fletching. The crossbow is so much fun to shoot and allows those that do not have the time to dedicate to verticle bow hunting the time to hunt. Yes the crossbow can be used with out so much of the dedicated time that it takes to shoot a deer with the verticle bow and still show respect for the animal. I did not say easier, for if anything a crossbow is harder to hunt with when compared to a vertical bow because I can usually get a second shot off with my vertical bow. I would have to be very lucky to get a second shot with the crossbow. It is slower to load and louder at the shot. I have bowhunted with vertical bows for the past 30 years. I own two Mathews MQ-1s. I have hunted with the a crossbow once or twice in in the last 10 years. I recently purchased a Horton Summit and then sold it and bought my self a Parker Cyclone Express crosbow. I have been bitten by the crossbow bug. I really love this new way of hunting with an arrow. It is so much fun. I have been doing some research and reading a lot. Seventeen states allow crossbows for all archery deer hunters; Kentucky only allows them for a short part of the archery deer season and for those with disabilities. Crossbow use has increasingly been allowed across the nation. In the last two years, eight states, including traditional whitetail hunting states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Texas, have changed regulations to allow crossbows during the archery deer seasons. Crossbows not only help recruit young hunters but help retain older hunters, too. As our hunter population continues to age, the crossbow will continue to play a vital role in our deer program, both in our rural and urban areas. The state of Ohio has full inclusion of the crossbow during deer archery seasons since 1976. Now 45% to 50% of the state's archery hunters use crossbows. The state's deer population hasn't suffered and is at or near an all-time record. I would like to know what the Kentucky hunting members think of this proposal I am making. I have been invited to join in on a pro crossbow Kentucky Afield Radio talk show here in Kentucky. I will be promoting not only the crossbow, but all hunting methods here in our state. I respect those whom hunt with every available means, and would not want to give any anti hunting groups an opportunity to say we disagree or are separated in our goals to keep our rights to hunt. Ya, me too.......and I have my glasses on. It must have been all this holiday cooking. It has affected my eyes. Well shucks,this forum is from back in October. Oh well, it needed bumping up anyway. We always need to be aware of them bakes, I mean brakes.

Thank you all. She is still doing fine and even cooked up some Christmas dinner last Saturday. With my help we cooked a ham and had a wonderful blessed dinner. As I said grace I ask for everyone at the table to mention something that they where thankful for. My little boy said that he was thankful for Mommy. Thanks again everyone. Just wanted to give everyone an update. I am sitting here awaiting UPS to bring me my new Parker Cyclone Express crossbow. I am off this week and want to get in some deer/turkey hunting before the season ends very soon. James -

From the Bike; New tires. A Day Long seat. Some nice drawings of a huge buck on the tank and hunting scenes with a bow-hunter in the tree-stand and a nice rising/morning sunrise on the saddle bags. The new spark plugs installed. The new brake fluid changed out, it is in the garage with me. Larger mirrors. A brother/sister for company.That's about it for this year. All though my rider/owner wants to purchase a $ 1,150.00 Parker Cyclone Express crossbow with the extra possible income tax check money this year ???? Perhaps a new owner would be a better deal. But nay he takes pretty good care of me with all the sea foam and wax and extra chrome and new oil and grease and fuel in my gut. Not to mention all the reckless driving nick-um-poops that we have avoided together. So Merry Christmas from the red - raven bike in Fuzzy's garage. Oh ya, the garage is always no colder than 36 degrees when it is really below zero out side. And also the battery tender is hooked up to my heart. Wow, what a nice owner/rider I have. Merry Christmas to all and to all those less than average taken care of Yamaha bikes out there.

Well all turned out fine. No blockages, but some muscle problems in the lower part of her heart. Nothing real serious, but will need medication. First of all, I want to thank God. Now I want to thank you all for all your prayers and kind words and thoughts and spoken assurance and words from those whom have experienced the same procedure. I read each and every post and I had to stop and take a deep breath to keep from crying, THANK YOU. My wife and I are home and doing fine as of around 10:30 PM tonight. It is late for me and she is a sleep. Tomorrow I will show her all your posts. I have to help her get around and take care of some of the household chores. She needs about five days to re-coop. She is also using my cane I used with my knee surgery. I have some help from my daughter and also my sister. Many friends,Christian Brothers and Sisters have also called and offered help in taking care of our 7 year old son Isaiah while all this has occurred. We are blessed to have so many that care. My wife is scheduled for a heart calf tomorrow. The doctor is going to do the procedure around 4 PM. I took her to the Emergency Room around 4:30 pm yesterday evening. I stayed there last night and just got home a few minutes ago. My daughter will stay tonight and I will return tomorrow to stay while the doctor does the procedure. Please remember my wife in your prayers. We are hoping and praying that there is nothing real serious wrong. She is doing fine for now, but was so very sick yesterday. I could tell that she is really concerned and frightened, and so am I. Thank you all so much. James

They tried that," you call here bunch of bull with me". I said I pay you, you call and fix, or I call another insurance agent. I did anyway and pulled everything away from them to another location. I got a call wanting to know why. I did not return the call. Do not play stupid with me. Ok, now my rant is over too. Rant on Boss.....

This is very nice. Merry Christmas To All, Again ............ The "W" in Christmas Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm and peaceful experience. I had cut back on nonessential obligations - extensive card writing, endless baking, decorating, and even overspending. Yet still, I found myself exhausted, unable to appreciate the precious family moments, and of course, the true meaning of Christmas. My son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was an exciting season for a six year old. For weeks, he'd been memorizing songs for his school's "Winter Pageant." I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd be working the night of the production. Unwilling to miss his shining moment, I spoke with his teacher. She assured me there'd be a dress rehearsal the morning of the presentation. All parents unable to attend that evening were welcome to come then. Fortunately, Nicholas seemed happy with the compromise. So, the morning of the dress rehearsal, I filed in ten minutes early, found a spot on the cafeteria floor and sat down. Around the room, I saw several other parents quietly scampering to their seats. As I waited, the students were led into the room. Each class, accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the floor. Then, each group, one by one, rose to perform their song. Because the public school system had long stopped referring to the holiday as "Christmas," I didn't expect anything other than fun, commercial entertainment songs of reindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakes and good cheer. So, when my son's class rose to sing, "Christmas Love," I was slightly taken aback by its bold title. Nicholas was aglow, as were all of his classmates, adorned in fuzzy mittens, red sweaters, and bright snowcaps upon their heads. Those in the front row- center stage - held up large letters, one by one, to spell out the title of the song. As the class would sing "C is for Christmas," a child would hold up the letter C. Then, "H is for Happy," and on and on, until each child holding up his portion had presented the complete message, "Christmas Love." The performance was going smoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her; a small, quiet, girl in the front row holding the letter "M" upside down - totally unaware her letter "M" appeared as a "W". The audience of 1st through 6th graders snickered at this little one's mistake. But she had no idea they were laughing at her, so she stood tall, proudly holding her "W". Although many teachers tried to shush the children, the laughter continued until the last letter was raised, and we all saw it together. A hush came over the audience and eyes began to widen. In that instant, we understood the reason we were there, why we celebrated the holiday in the first place, why even in the chaos, there was a purpose for our festivities. For when the last letter was held high, the message read loud and clear: "C H R I S T W A S L O V E" And, I believe, He still is. Amazed in His presence... .humbled by His love. Again, HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS SEASON!

Ya, me too. I have plowed all hours of the day and night, get very little pay for it lately and used to enjoy it. But now, nay. Would rather have snow than ice though.
