GlennTuc replied to bikerjohn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yep, cept every three 3k. Glenn -
Haven't heard anyone talk about the Tom Tom Rider 2. Does anyone have one? What are the Pros and Cons. Would I be better off with a Nuvi and a sandwich bag? Thanks, Glenn

I like them, but like FreezyRider, I would be concerned about front turn signals being seen. I wonder how it would look if they were mounted a little lower on the forks? Should be able to see the signals then, I would think. I have the driving lights but I don't think it would hurt to have lots of lights on the front. Same with the back. Glenn

The article says they are a direct replacement. So, they should be a direct fit. If my memory serves me well, our bulbs are screw mount connectors. The article says they are 100% waterproof, no cover lens would be required. If you get them, add me to the list to tell how they work. Thanks, Glenn

There's a fellow in a neighboring town that burned down an apartment complex this morning trying to deep fry a turkey. Seems he filled his pot with oil, got it hot, and then put the turkey in. For some reason he didn't think adding the turkey would cause the pot to overflow. Glenn

Will Road Kings bolt right on to our RSVs or do they have to be modified? What are "throw aways" from the HD Dealers. There's a huge HD Dealer a few miles from my house. I'm not sure what I would get if I ask them for "throw aways.":confused24: Thanks, Glenn

Excellent Barend! You hit it on the nose. I have a friend whose dad was captured by the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge. His dad is 90 yrs old this year and was made Grand Marshall of a local holiday parade. He went a long time without getting any recognition for his contribution to our country. Glenn

Going to order a Kuhmo 165/80-15 next week to begin the journey to the darkside. Going to give it a try. I think I've read that some people use a 155/80-15, if so, why? Glenn

Just put in my first can of Seafoam today with a fillup. Bike is running good, but with 20,000+ miles on it, it thought it might need a cleaning. Glenn

Bought my 08 RSV in May 08. It had 1 mile on the odometer when I picked it up after dealer prep, now has 20,000 + miles. Plan on keeping it at least till the 5 year warranty runs out. Probably will keep it after that and just buy another new one.

Welcome aboard. That rest stop looks familiar. Myself and a couple of wing friends took a trip to Big Bend back in 1986. I was riding a GL 1100 Interstate at the time. Glenn

Does anyone know where to get a two-into-one air filler for the front struts? That way I can be relatively sure both sides have the same pressure. Thanks, Glenn

It'd been a while between my GL1100 Interstate and 08 RSV but it still took a little while to get used to the heel/toe shifter. Now that I'm used to shifter, I wouldn't want another type. The floorboards are great also. Glenn

So far around 10,000 miles. Mostly back and forth to work. 60 miles round trip. I'll ride year round as long as there's no ice on the road. Which is rare around here. Glenn

Spotted an 08 RSV three wheeler in Paducah, KY yesterday on my way to work. It looked like a Hannigan (spelling)mod. Good looking trike. Wanted to know if the rider frequents this site. Glenn

I heard the 2011 will have a highly upgraded cassette player with music search and auto reverse. Oh wait, does it already have that? IMHO, I think the Venture will be made for years to come. Don't know about FI or VMax motor, but believe it will be around awhile. Glenn

Just wanted to make a correction. Talked to my friend again today about his tire exploding on him and he said it wasn't a Nexen. Couldn't remember the name of the tire but knew it wasn't a Nexen. My apologies to Nexen. Wanted to clear that up case someone was looking to buy a Nexen. Glenn

A friend of mine who is a member of this site just blew the side out of a Nexen tire while trying to mount it on his RSV. He said it blew out at 120 psi. It would seat all but about 6 inches around the bead and he locked the air chuck on the wheel, set the pressure at 120 and stepped out of the garage. When he peeked in, it blew. Said it took a few years off his life. I'm planning on giving it a try, but with a Kuhmo. Glenn

Rode all of last winter with a snowmobile suit and a pair of Cabella cold weather mittens. Rode nearly every day, 60 miles plus. If someone lives in a central state or southern part of IL, IN or OH, that maybe all you need. Glenn

He probably was the only one of the three without a worried look on his face. Oh, I forgot, HD riders grow beards to hide their worried looks.:whistling: Glenn

Dragonslayer, what an experience. My mother talks about the out of body experience she had during a brain anyourism. My first bike was a 1972 Kawasaki 500, three cylinder, two stroke. Loved to do burnouts on that bike. Very quick in a quarter mile. Glenn

Congratulations Grandpa!!!!! If you live in HopTown we need to get together for a meet and eat sometime. I go to Ft. Campbell frequently. It would be nice to meet more people on here. I worked in HopTown for a year. Glenn

I live in Paducah and seen a Silver RSV turning onto Hwy 45 off Lovelaceville Rd going toward I-24 on Sunday morning. He didn't have a trailer though. First time I had seen this RSV in my neighborhood. Would like to meet more RSV owners around here. Rodney Burkeen and myself are the only two I know of. Glenn
