Sorry to be so dumb....what's a SLO in August?

Thanks for all the trouble you have gone through Condor. Don't forget to let us Canadian folk know if the shipping costs are higher than what you quoted. You should not have to subsidize our hobbies...or maybe you should?

Lyle, Here is a link to my recent stator problem. Lots of good advice. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21941&highlight=stator You will also need 2 gaskets and I got them here: http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/2/Yamaha.aspx 3jp-15451-00-0 3jp-14461-00-00 You should also have gotten some instructions with your stator on how to install. I changed my oil and filter at the same time because you will lose some oil.

Hi George. Don't know what bike you have, but on my 1st gen 89 I get the clicking sound...only when the intercom is on...and only when idling. As soon as rpm's go up it is gone. By the way, if the intercom is on and my wife isn't it still clicks. Maybe its a "wife" thing?

I have an 89 venture, and when I first got it I found it was idling around 1300 rpm. A quick look in manual for idling adjust and I mistakenly turned the carb sync screw on left side to adjust rpm. So, having just done a carb sync and found my folly (and fixed) what if any improvements will I see? I am mainly interested in mpg...hoping this would improve. I already know it idles much better! I really didn't notice any power changes, but perhaps just a slight improvement in vibration at highway speeds? This isn't a critical question as I will find out next run, but as it is raining anyway and I am housebound I thought someone would know. Thanks.

Venture Cruise does not engage
BJB replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Don't know if you have fixed this problem yet, but will relate my cure. On my 89 Venture, all lights would come on etc but would not set the cruise. Problem turned out to be the cancel switch. Once pushed it would not return back out to its original position. I had to put my fingernail under it and pry outward. A little contact cleaner and worked the switch a bit and it now cancels OK. However, it is something I check frequently now. Best of luck. -

Had a similar problem...fouled plugs was my answer. Changed them and it started right up. Couldn't tell by looking at them. -
Need some insight

Brad, I have an 89 which I recently acquired. It needed a front tire, and was really squirrely at about 65 mph. After reading about tires here, especially the Venoms, I put on a new...are you ready for this....Metzler 880! (rear already was a ME 880) At the same time I redid the front bearings. I have no wobble at speeds up to 96 mph, much faster than I ever need to go. There is still a slight wobble around 40 mph but hardly noticeable. I used to have a 1996 Royal Star and it had the head shake problems if you took your hands off at about 60 mph. I also put ME 880's on it and it cured the problem. The only warning I have is that I always check tire pressures, ( running 37.5 front and 39.5 rear) and before every ride I try to do a tread check....looking for the gobs of rubber these tires are supposed to be flinging around. Actually I think those tire problems seem to be for the 2nd gen tire sizes. I have my class system set at low front and back for single riding...and I am a svelt 205 lbs. Hope this helps. -
No problem. I just found that site yesterday. I just wish I could find a Canadian distributor for these bulbs. I hate to order a total of $7.00 worth of bulbs and wind up paying around $16 shipping/handling etc etc to get it to me in Canada. I have a set of lights already on my bike and would like to make them into driving lights so that the cage drivers see me better. Thus I need to replace the 55w with 35w.

Help - Replace desiccant in 1989
BJB replied to BJB's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes, you can remove the cannister from the bike. The end piece with the tab on it. I ended up using penetrating fluid around the edge. Then you are able to push it inwards and remove the circlip. You should be good to go then. Any more problems just ask. -

There was no such wire in my 89. I looked at a parts schematic online and it shows a wire. However, if it fits into the end of the crank it must be very fine because there is only a very fine hole there. Not sure something that fine would do any good?
