  1. Yup, it's the blind spots that can get us. Good quick thinking on your part. Glad you are OK. JackZ Ft Collins, CO
  2. ... all of you embark on such a wonderful trip. And what a HOOOOOT, to do it with you Dad. He must be a young sprout compared to my 71. Course ... I S T I L L .... feel YOUNT! LOL Ride safe, with 'the covering' ... and have a great time! JackZ
  3. I was buying tires for the company car. Wife meandered across the street to Yamaha dealer, looked at and climbed on the Queen Seat of then 'THEIR' 86 VR Ursula Black on Golad. She liked it, called my folks, they said it would be their present to me. She pulled me over, I sat on it, and said THIS IS MY Frebird! The next day I rode her home, brand new, and I felt like a ZFreBird. That became her name. Now on my second 86 from Squidley and Lonna, this lady is STILL called Zfrebird as well. Nothing like a Venture Royal to make me feel like a FreBird! So, Z is a Zfrebird4 now.
  4. Glad you made it and wish I could have been there, though CO was beautiful riding today. Have a great all! JackZ
  5. She will return heads as the 1st gens pass you! Enjoy. LOL. JackZ
  6. NOw to hear the mechanic's inspection report and line up the finances. Thanks to all who have posted. One of the things I will enjoy the most is how quiet these cars are, as I wear hearing aids. Ahhh, peace and quiet! JackZ
  7. I would love to be with you ... but fear I am so far just too far away. Have a great day with so many of your friends, and know I am celebrating all of your blessings, ... and all so very well deserved. Love to you both. Jack Tharp Ft Collins Zfrebird aka DePreach :7_6_3[1]:
  8. One day in his drive way in Fairview Heights, Ill, after a heavy snow, he dropped his keys, asked the Good Lord to help him find them, ... and in a few minute he did. God does work wonders when we completely rely on him. And one of his favorite sayings? 'I'm ready to go any time, but ... I ain't in no hurry!' Love you Dad! JackZ aka DePreach and yep, as he asked, I did his Memorial Resurrection Service.
  9. ... that afterwards he just went back and finished his meal! Salute to the meals and the states that allow us to carry legal! My goal when I can afford it, and soon! JackZ
  10. to match t he almost new rear M880 and both perform great. I took the advice of my wrench, but I think next time I'll take Squidley's for no more M880's. Wrench says the key is to keep them properly aired. Given this report I'll check the tires BEFORE each ride, sidewall especially, and air pressure weekly. Good post, so good having M880's now cautions me some. Time will tell, and hopefully not chunks out or an accident or blow out! Eh? Ya. All ride safe and happy now! JackZ
  11. ... so please post photos. I ride with a yellow strobe light on the left and right faring below the turn signals, and above the headlight tilted up, and that works great for the ahead, and perfectly legal. Now I'll consider getting two in red for the back wired to my brake light. Good thinking for all of us, as I watch my rear at a light like a hawk! Thanks for posting! JackZ :mo money:Ahhh, something else to spend for the 86 VR!!!
  12. ... a special thanks to him and all for what they do for the Homeland. JackZ
  13. ... IF we let them. Recently I rode a female friend who had not ridden, and she balanced well for the most part, and I enjoyed the company. However, being alone with not 'connection' between us of lasting merit, she became afraid to ride again. I think the key here is that the ladies have to determine and measure the level of their fear, and pass it on as 'nothing,' 'very little,' or 'just some.' This has been a good post and I thank all who have contributed. I look forward to reading more, too. And perhaps someday I'll have that cherished friend behind me that is my new soul mate. I just keep riding, ... lol , .... and looking. All ride safe and happy together! JackZ ... and keep your close! Jz
  14. ... reading the ads, and visiting the show rooms! YOu sound like a guy who has ridden a miracle, ... and ain't the least bit ready to not ride any more. You have our admiration and my prayers. Think of buying new chrome! LOL JackZ :clap2:And I STILL wish I had never given up :crying::crying:my FIRST 86 VR, Ursula Black on Gold ... so I polish my second 86 vr, brown on gold. Not the same, but Frebird2 does turn heads still. Jz
  15. Zfrebird4

    Near hit

Safe and sound. Did the red or white pick up trucks stop to see if you were ok? Just wondering. JackZ
  16. .... updates on this big guy and the family? If so, please post. Prayers for all continuing. JackZ
  17. ... extended to you from warm, sunny with blue skies, ... COLORADO. The upside? Not sure there is on for you fishman. Perhap's it's that such a loooooong winter season makes tough guys, ... who just love to have friends like us. Chin UP. It'll melt sometime soon. JackZ
  18. NOthing makes a night better before signing off to meet a new day for me. Yep, I know that will be painful to watch em all ride out and leave you behind for YOU, and the WHOLE GANG. But the time will come when they MAY have a hard time keeping up with you. And as a Dad/Grandpa, I appreciate your bonding with your Dad. I am praying for all of you, and hoping your Dad will ride again. Best to all. JackZ Ft Collins, CO :thumbsup2::thumbsup:
  19. I immediately hit my emergency flashers, ... until I can see a chance to pull over away from the Trooper, then signal and LEAVE MY SIGNAL ON for others a few, then back to EFs. Just my way. We owe these folks the best we can give. I do NOT want to do a Patriot Guard rider for another Trooper. Thanks for posting. And it's the law here in CO too. JackZ
  20. And, if you want lots of them, I hope you have triplets to start out! LOL. If so, my sympathies to her. My lovely mother of my children was never, NEVER more beautiful than when she was 'brewing' our two sons. Best to you both, with prayers for good health and long times together for allllll! JackZ aka DePreach :ice_awesome-vi46644PS Expect to have to spend lots of money, take lots of photographs, get some sleep while the two of you can, .... eat LOTS OF ICECREAM, get lots of cucumbers of her if she wants them like my wife did, .... and DO NOT .... take her to the hospital when the time comes on the scoot! LOL. JZ
  21. Mine seem to work on a timer, and perhaps distance is involved; don't know. I turn mine on and off for lane changes as I do not want to give mixed signals. I also watch mine VERY carefully in heavy town traffic. To make sure they stay on in a turn I hit mine at least once or twice in my turn, and more if I am sitting at a turn light . On the open road I am not the least concerned how long they remain on after a turn or a lane change. I figure the longer the better. My 2Cents worth. JackZ and the pint! USE THEM!!
  22. ... for strength and forward recovery for those who have endured this lost next to their very soul. And prayers for all of us to pass the wisdom posted here on for other, and perhaps we'll be able to save their lives. I have a small group of 5-9 who I try to get together from time to time, and we all trust east other. However we have a young in his 20's on his CRocket, and we let him take the lead, and just give a prayer of thanksgiving when we catch up with him. I hope all riders learn from posts like this. And I gree the sellers have a resonsibility too. Saddened, and respectful even of my big 86 VR, as I pray all of us here are with all our scoots. JackZ
  23. :fishin:YOurs is no small achievement, and far larger than mine in my first masters degree. I too had oral comps for 2 hours, ... went back to the Dorm and passed out. Yours was in electricity, ... mine was in the source ... Divinity. LOL ... Have a GREAT and congrats again! JackZ :clap2::happy65:and ... don't forget to take time to go , but more importantly ... !!!!!
  24. ... to look at more information from anyone. Thanks to all for thinking of and for posting. JackZ
  25. Yes, this kind of news saddens us all. Doesn't Miss have a law that requires taking a training course? Even then though, I suppose to a new rider with that much bike things can catch up with him VERY quickly. Best to all, and the rest of us ride UP with maximum safety allert! JackZ
