Learning some trick riding on my Venture
Zfrebird4 replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
And glad you've got that weight off. And heck, I stand on my pegs on my 86 VR often just to refresh my buZZ bones. JackZ:dancefool: (Now if I can just loose that much weight!! :crying:)! -
... 49 MPG. Amazing for my 86 VR and my weight of ca 260 (that's close enough; LOL). Great days to ride here now, thanks to the heavens of blue skies! JackZ

Helment for driver, protective glasses for passenger. Stupid. If good for one it's good for two. I have two helmets, ... one ... ... has only ridden full one time! LOL JackZ
-
.... I ride again (alone still ) ... and will still enjoy the mts. Yesterday Estes Park was just great. Come on ya'all! JackZ and I just finished my ice cream!

It really sounds like you've turned loose a passion with in her, and her boyfriend may not be able to have that great love of the road like she and the rest of us do. So phooooeeey! Enjoy, and feel younger. Just think of all the admirable looks you'll get from the side of those who see you with such a lovely beauty who is so young! If their nose gets bent out of shape, just tell em to take Geritol. LOL> (Or laxative). JackZ

Yesterday I was in Estes Park, CO., enjoying a yougart peach desert and saw a beautiful I Gen VR Blue, ca 86+ in the parking lot. Nice to see them survive. You and I are both helping that out, OLD Goat. (BYW: all parts arrived and will look and try soon and $ later; thanks again!). JackZ:thumbsup::dancefool:

... for all of us that can't be there! All: enjoy and ride safe, and I thank you for what those of you who are serving are doing for our country and the cause. JackZ

Bike Crash, we both lost... the deer and I

... the hornet, ... as it offers the max protection. Just time to bite another bullet for my beloved ZFrebird! ... and for me. Thanks all for posting. JackZ :mo money: -
... I would clean them off, even wash them with soap and water ... then use rubber rejouvenator from an office supply business, ... like Office Depot. I do that on all my rubber parts on my 86 VR. about once ever 2 years. Sun just dries them out; for the valve rubber seals, the heat it seems to me would do the same. MIne last one of that product cost me $5.95, some years ago; lasts a long time. Just my :2cents:

1st pg someone mentioned the valve that is required in European off shore drilling NOT being required in the US. It costs ca $500,000! :mo money: Bet the Washington bums get this changed fast, and I bet BP wishes they had VOLUNTEERED to install one now. Also heard on the radio on one of those beautiful CO rides today that employees may have failed to clean out some of the mud and gunk from one of the valves that was designed to 'leak' out the methane gas. Suggestion that was a could-be3 cause of the accident. Who knows. Meanwhile, we will pray for it to be stoped asap, and for the many whose lively hoods are now uncertain or going under. I am sure this nation will NOT pray for us (as a majority) to stop off shore oil drilling, but just to make it safer and make BP pay. The latter I am sure of, the rest, .... who knows. Just my two cents worth. JackZ

Sounds like you think she's a keeper!!! LOL A GOOD DAY? For me it's two tanks fulls, perhaps 3, and walking afterwards at 71 years young! (And single, saddly, ... no Queen Seat Rider yet; but I'm working on that one!). JackZ
-
... I bought my 86 VR back too for $2,800. Spent ca $1,400 and my wrench put parts on and I pocketed the difference. I did not accept their first offer either, and sent them to 3 Yamaha Dealers to ask them what this bike is worth on the market! They were surprised and moved from their first offer of $1,300 to the $2,800. Good luck. And I 'm glad all are safe and the accident wa:thumbsup::Venture:s this minor. JackZ

... and they are neat. However, when my 260 lbs on the bike there is only 2-4" of space above, and occasionally they get a wrinkle on the bottom, ... but it soon comes out. Next time may have wrench use heavier oil due to my weight and size. These keep the forks from pitting, and on my 86 VR I too have the springs as the air system as long gone south. I do have a used complete set for the air system, and perhaps when a Meet and wrench come close I'll have it installed as a try. For now the Squidley method works (bought the bike from him). JackZ

could tie that one in here; occasionally, still after seven young decades of living, I DO come across a word I've never written or typed before. Just my Christmas dream. JackZ

vents shown here ... to add to the polished alumininummmmem that Squidley put on my 86 VR before selling it to me (as a replacement for the plastic vents that never last). http://venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=44776&stc=1&d=1273111048 Guess though they would not have an off and on 'switch!' LOL. Would be so neat when cold, (open) and hot (closed; and look better then). Oh well, a crotch rocket challenged me at the stop light the other day and by the time I left second gear he was a block behind! Glad no bubble machines were around at that time. BOY did that feel good, and make ZBird happy! JackZ

... without those loose screws bet she'll be a woman for you that is 20 years younger! So, ... prayers for YOUR survival! LOL. JackZ

... your new home and open house, Brad's job, and all the goodies of life's great friendships this Saturday! Sorry:crying: I will not be able to make it; scoot needs new throttle cables for such a long trip; kind of limping along safe enough around this neck of the woods till the come in and wrench puts them on for an estimated coast of $200-250 (ouch). Love, hugs and prayers to you both. Jack Tharp Ft Collins

Bike Crash, we both lost... the deer and I
Zfrebird4 replied to CaptainJoe's topic in Lessons Learned
I am installing this electronic deer whistle which is recommended on our site in the tech library. www.deer-whistle.come/technical.html It has an effective range of 700 feetIn 076 it was $68.95 in black or $74.95 in chrome. Easy to install and comes with all the wiring. Call: 800-690-0132 After ca $200 with my wrench for new throttle cables, this is my next goal, ... and essential in CO. Be sure an install and off and on switch in case you are coming up on a horse rider or folks walking their dogs. Otherwise you could continue to be safe and STILL very unpopular. Sure glad the two of you came out of that good. Drove through a deer in OH; but one put me down near Paonia, CO. It's time JZ! (Yup, talking to myself). LOL. JackZ aka DePreach
