I have two new knees (both 11/1/04) and I don't miss the pain of bone on bone. Fight for as many PT sessions as you can get. And new knees actually need to be 'worked' more than the real one as they artificial ones depend entirely on muscle for movement. Prayers for continued healing, JackZ Aka DePreach

... you having had such a good Dad in this life. There is a Communion of the Saints, and the more you can, in time, accept his passing the more often you will feel his presence with you, perhaps as a gentle wind, and odor, the turn of the cat's head as if tracking something, and I have even felt a gentle pat on my shoulders from my Dad. My prayers for you and all the family in this time of Loss. Jack Tharp Ft Collins aka DePreach

let me have my first ride on his first out harley D dirt bike; small, and I barely fit on it. He took both my sons for rides on it, and they loved it as I did in my late 20's then. Sure wish I still had that little bike as a collector's item. My next ride was behind my brother-in-law's 750, and he almost accelerated me off the back. Then in 1985 I loaned my first son :mo money:the money for a hot Kowasaki, and soon I rode it. Then I got my own Yamaha 650, then XS100 with bags and farings, then my first 86 VR brand new:337:; off 6 years; then bought a used one from Squidley with Lonna's permission, and been riding that since (some 32,000 miles of pure pleasure at my young soon to be 72 years riding). Jack T :7_6_3[1]:and now? I ride in all directions! Jz

Put in 70 miles yesterday at high 60's; mid to low 60's today, but let Zfrebird rest after my chiropractor treatment. Tomorrow? In the low 50's and out in full dress, of course. I always believe cold weather riding (50's for me at soon to be 72 yrs young!) is the safest as we wear the most protective gear then. Of course, I did have to read the marbles yesterday, and only did the foot hill roads. :banana:Today I could have done Estes Park. Another day; all we have to do is wait a few day after the skiff we are to get Mon or Tues and then we can ride. Lots of bikers out yesterday and today! Enjoy the winter sunshine :hurts:when it comes; mine is from 5000 feet elevation, and man can that make a difference! JackZ Ft Collins

A Harley biker is riding by the zoo when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.' The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.' The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?' The biker replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.' The journalist leaves. The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page: U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH That pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days ... ... but only had to drive ca 40 miles before taking his 34 hour restart, thank the Good Lord! So it will all be gone by the time he hits the road for a loooong 1,100 miles to somewhere in Tex. Rode with him several times, and what a great guy and good time we had, except for one trip on a mesa in S Dak, :(blowing snow and ice covered, and his trailer .... EMPTY! But the Good Lord does look after his kids, ... and mine. JackZ PS CO snow now FEELS like it's melting:big-grin-emoticon:; cold today, :cold:ca 20's and zero:starz: tonight, but at 5,000+ feet here in Ft Collins and a day of sun and blue sky, ... it still at least F E L T warm; thawing till Fri and low 50's; perhaps:fingers-crossed-emo a ride on 86 VR Zfrebird? Well, I can :fingers-crossed-emohope. We had ca 5 ", dry snow. JT

Yep, I was bored tonight and reading old posts. My thoughts: Think of the zipper on those driver back rests as a place to hide a key in between the cardboard (pressboard?) and the foam. NO ONE will look there, ... except you folks on my bike if you ever get back to CO. LOL. All have a safe New Year, and a happy one prospering beyond Obamacare! Jack T Ft Collins

All of the above advice is repeated by me. PLUS that pre-Christmas is the worst time for such a thing to happen. But these days, it does happen at the drop of a hat. Secondly, there are always TWO sides of responsibility to such seperations. In time, and perhaps a lot of time, ... this too will pass. On your part the best moves you can make is just what you are doing now, reaching out to friends, forcing yourself to be with people rather than to recluse to just being by yourself. Take care of your health, ... and hang in there. Write all of us here often. Prayers from one who has been there. Jack Tharp aka DePreach

... the years. I had two, in 1965 and 66, and am now 71 and still suffer from my neck whiplashes. Don't settle too soon, and use LOTS of med resources. Glad you were able to walk away from it all. See you on two wheels someday .... Jack Z
