Senior moment costs me $5.00 donation
Zfrebird4 replied to M61A1MECH's topic in Embarrassing Moments
His brown on gold 86 VR? I had her at the wrench shot, and Rat (yep that's his name), moved her into position for me to bring home, and before he could get off the kick stand .... BROKE. Young Squid must have sat on it on the side position too long! What a great place though to have it go! Seriously, ... not Squid's cause or problem. I probably had too much gas on board from that last scare by one of those stupid box drivers! LOL. JackZ -
Any of you ladies doing one of the two willing to share how YOUNG you are? What you ride? Just didn't want your crowd to be left out or for you to think of me as hung up as ONE OF THOSE GUYS! Saddly, I DONT have a Queen Seat or UP rider buddy that looks much better then me (or even one that looks worse). Enjoy! JackZ

Yes, the many prayers have helped, but only because they were backed up by your determined perserverance! You kept at it, and went beyond the denials you had. These are the hardest times in our country financially that I've known, and we may not have seen anything yet. I am soooo grateful to be retired, and with a reasonable income. I celebrate your joys that are immeasurable with you and your wife. Life well, love long, and ride safe and hard. And grant me the honor of meeting you both if you come my way on two wheels. Well, even on 4, but THAT would be an emotional trama I might not be able to endure! With prayers of rejoicing, .... JACKZ PS Later I'll read the rest of the posts to see if you tell us more what your job is. If not, then please add a quick note when you get the time. JZ

I thought mine was fine till a friend sent me the following? Got any more to add? aoladp://MA25530668-0001/01FA72~1.GIFToday's BEst of the BEst Dr. Visit aoladp://MA25530668-0002/0937FA~1.GIF brother Don I went to the doctor for my yearly physical. The nurse starts with the usual basics. "How much do you weigh?" she asks. I say, "135." The nurse puts me on the scale.. It turns out my weight is 180. The nurse asks, "Your height?" I answer, "5 feet 4 inches." The nurse checks and sees that I only measure 5 feet 2 inches. She then takes my blood pressure and tells me that it's very high. "Of course it's high!" I scream. "When I came in here I was tall and slender! Now I'm short and fat!" She put me on Prozac.

Though I am posting behind your loss, I do so prayerfully. I have had thousands of funerals in one of my professions, that of being a clergy in the United Methodist Church. In all of them, I have always said one thing: What we remember of those we have given up to their Resurrection ... is ALWAYS a part of their immortality. Secondly, there IS a Communion of the Saints. And by that I pray you know often her presence, ... most likely when you least expect it. Respectfully, Jack Tharp Ft Collins, CO

... add a few words! Personally, I think the 'what if' and 'who', the 'how', the 'what for,' and 'why' really do add up to one thing! 'Who done it?' JackZ

... Sunshine melting the snow at 45-48. Perhaps Sat? VARRRRROOOOOooooommmmmmmmm. ZIP! And I IMed with a friend in Fla yesterday with a report of a VERY HIGH HUMIDITY. Was she just breathing hard? JackZ

That your dad rides with you some. Tell him I said congrats! Sure wish I still had mine with me; He received his Resurrection in 1993, and of course, at his request I did his service of celebration, as I did for Mom later. JackZ

Oldest & YOungest: WHO WAS 77 YR OLD RIDER? Lost record. Help!
Zfrebird4 replied to Zfrebird4's topic in Watering Hole
Where the guys posted, they talked about their women. A few told their ages. I am not even sure if any woman posted as an UP or a QS rider. THAT might be a post you might consider after you read my summary the first of the new year. Thanks for responding. JackZ -
I enjoyed the photographs and the bantor. I have started a new riding group here in FC and we have that same great fellowship. Must be the tales we tell and that we plan on making, huh>? Take care and stay happy and ride forever! JackZ aka DePreach
-
In my summary I'll note you took your FIRST ride behind your grandfather. Hope he's still with you as he will be as proud of you at 24 for riding (safe) as he will be at any age, when he receives his Great Rewards (with a new Motorcycle designed by God; it WILL look like a Yamaha VR, LOL). Chaharly, ... BD 4/5/93 if you don't believe his claim of 16! AND ... he rides a 1985 Venture Royal! So there. All of you have it all. More later. Look for a NEW POST in January for a summary of everyone! Hey guys and Ladies, it's been a hoot! JackZ aka DePreach PS Thanks Dan!

Thanks for posting Nemo! Looks like the other 77 year old guy is not responding, so ... you are the top dog. I'll have to figure out a donated reward for the oldest and the youngest. I'll summarize all of it after Christmas, and we'll see what happens then and I'll do that as a new post! Actually I was hoping to find some guys and gals riding in their 80's. THAT would be sweet and news! Oh, well, we'll just keep doing our thing at 70 and 77, huh? Loosebiker is 72; Loadmaster is 71; Art708 is also 72; and Lobo Hurfiano is 73; THAT'S ALL OF US IN OUR 70'S! Can you belive that? Too many give up too soon, me thinks. So ,.... enjoy the honor, and look for the SUMMARY POST in January! JackZ -
Sorry, don't have the equipment to do that; just look at any cop motorcycle with yellow strobe lights. They are pearcing, but do not affect the oncoming traffic. JackZ

I've watched the pavement go by in my first down just off my driveway. I was a newby then. IN taking CO state training course WITH my license, my instructor said she only rode without one when it was just to hot to be safe. I have to agree with that; such is my only exception. Full face, always. Riding in WY with shield 1/3 rd up on my full face, I hit a bug with my face, brusshed him off, then decided I'd better pull over and double check to see if he was not inside somewhere. He was not. When I got off the bike he was on the bike seat, upside down, right where my croch had been, wearing regular pants. He was the biggest, maddest hornet I've ever seen when he then woke up. In bug weather, full face down! And there's nothing like a full face when you are caught out and have to ride in immense rain and a hail storm, which happened to me once coming back from Estes Park, N St. Varaine, on Hwy 34. I also ride with full gear until it is above 88, but even then with a jacket and a Tshirt, wet all over. Some times I use the wet all over even in full gear; it does work. Just unzip slowly for the safe cooling affect as AC. I also pour water on my head, cool (not cold) water. I ride with a hearing aid set for telephone, and my my 86 VR set with the external speaker on for outside sounds, set at 1/3 mid point. WOrks for me. And I am 70 with two artificial knees. I have been riding nwo for 170,000 FULL FACE, and won't think of ding anything else. Otherwise, my two sons who no longer ride would sue me for breach of contract! LOL. Thanks for the posting. Good one. JackZ

I found this site today on a light external vest that runs on rechargable AA's. It has a life for the lighting strips of 25,000 hours; don't know the price or what I am supposed to do with it after the 25,000 hours of riding, ... which will take only a year or two! LOL. Enjoy reading, and let me know what you think. IT IS NOT ESTETICLLY desirable, but riding in Denver or any other large city, ... it might save a life. DEER will not give a damn. Need that electric deer whistle that makes them mate while I ride buy! LOL. Jack Tharp Ft. Collins, Co AkA, ... JackZ

Got blue lighted on way to work this morning
Zfrebird4 replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
Blue is the color for the cops. They also use yellow, but we can use yellow strobes, too, as a caution and as long as they do not impair on coming vision. Mine are very small LED strobes, one UNDER my headlight, and one on each side of my faring. I intend to have another installed on the rear when I am cash ready. I DO carry the statement with me they are legal for non-police motorcycle riders. I bought them in Denver from the company that sells to motorcycle cop shops. Carring the paper on them is essential. I've never been stopped, and have been riding strobes since my second year of riding. HOWEVER, they don't mean a damn to a deer, as one took me down at 20 mph wanting a motorcycle ride on my front tire! LOL. I lived, the bike was State Farm parted out to save other first gen vrs. I am on my SECOND 1st gen VR, which is also an 86. I WAS INSTRUCTED to NEVER make any hand movements to suggest to riders in front to pull over! LOL. NEGATIVE: I do have rides in front that do slow down, so I wave to them, turn them off and on, and wave bye bye. They take off. And, ... naturally, I do look for cops around before I do that. I will be posting the source of purchase and a copy of the legal document I carry on line here, and so identified. Well, that is when CO warms; we are at the rare line of 1 degree above with 6 below last night; BUT the rest of this and the next week is in a warming mode. I ride again soon on Zfrebird4! (saddly, with no one on the Queen Seat; looking for that special one though; rare and hard to find). JackZ -
There's a lot of us out here who don't have a good partner to love and rejoice in. But as long as I have my two wheels, ... I have hope, even at age 70 years young with two new knees on my 86 VR! So, .... Aussie Annie has it right: Ride, bro, and perhaps your lady will come to you and your Queen Seat! LOL. And if you've not posted on my post (Second Gen Ventures), OLDEST VENTURE RIDERS, please do so. So far the oldest is 77 and the youngest is 16 (and on a VR!). As well, when in CO let me know and I'll try to keep up with you at my 70 with my two new knees and on my 86! LOL. JackZ
-
Doubt I'll ever make that. But I am enjoying the rides I can take here in CO. Enjoy, ride well and long and happy together! Nice trike too. Bet she purs smoothly! JackZ

A dog in OH came at my bike with deer whistles ... and I banged him on the side of the back luggage. I DID go back to the farm to check him out. Lucky for another dog that I did, ... they didn't know which one was hit, and the other one they checked on had eaten the rat poisening they had put out where he could get at it. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?> Anyway, the next day I stopped to check on him, and my checking on the dog I hit saved the one who ate the poisen. So all turned out well. The best defense is the electric deer whistles, and I intend to get one installed on my ASAP when I have the extra $100. JackZ

White helmet! Masonic image on front and back, and in color. Black and Silver jacket Pants Brown, light tan or black. Gloves black AND THE KICKER, to ride on Muffinman's comment above: I ride with strobe lights. The kind on the police motorcycles, yellow of course, and I set them to move the same way the police do, one two three, break and repeat. I have one under my headlight, and one on each side of the front faring. I want to add two more on the lower luggage of my 86 VR when I find $100; they are $50 apiece, and are LEDs. I don't give a hoot if they think I am a cop, except when the slow down when I come up behind them. So far, NO ONE has pulled out in front of me. So, that's my suggestion. Thanks to all who have posted. Jack Z
