... home with your honey. If I had your years and my love of bike riding since age 45 that I have now and with that youth at age 71, I'd taken the same ride! Thanks for sharing it and we were all enjoying your trip with you, and putting in a few prayers and lighted candles for you as well. Now rest your butt. Jack Z Ft Collins, CO

I am in Fla and you can always flop here among two bachelors in a small house and one bathroom. LOL. I have a full couch that also makes a bed. I am in Ft Collins. Jack Z Jack Tharp Ft Collins

... I rode was my son's Kowasaki, ca. 85; big, heavy, and no center for balance. Loved it still. THEN I bought my own 650 Marooon 84 Yamaha, with windshield, large faring, and bags. Next XS100 Yamaha, hotest machine I ever had between my legs. Then I arrived: My first brand new 86 Venture Royal, and now I have my second 86 VR, and am still going with bout 175,000 miles under my belt. Ain't it great to ride. Put in 125 today and out tomorrow! Mid 50's. SPRING is coming!1 JackZ Ft Collins, CO Yup, I ride in all directions, cept down, ready to go UP but in no hurry!

Toronto to Las Vegas July 3 to 25th any route suggestions or sights
Zfrebird4 replied to dogman's topic in Watering Hole
if you're dipping into CO and can flip through Ft. Collins, I'll tag with you over Trail Ridge Road, and west and south from the top back to I-70 and you're on your way. If you need to sleep in a house, shower, mine is available with a bed and some kind of pillow. Just in case I didn't change the address to my new house on my profile (I'll check that) it's 806 Kimball Rd; PM and I'll give you directions if you come this way if you need them. I might be able to get several of my local riding buddies to join us over the hill, too. And would company you if you're ust I25 to I70, or passing through junction of I-80 and I-25. Then I'd snag south on the country roads to Grand Mesa and over, or do the Colorado Monument before other places. Just thinking out loud. Keep all of us posted. JackZ The guy who rides in all directions except down, and is ready any time to go UP but in no hurry! Jz -

It is very routine these days. Still, prayers for the best, and use your udder arm to start the scoot, climb on and feel the engine mad at you! See you up on two wheels soon. Keep us all posted. JackZ Ft Collins, CO -
ANYTHING that helps with a bad or bothersome knee is a Good THing! I have two new knees and riding is a great exercise for me. Surgery was 11/04 and only NOW are they really letting me enjoy just standing still; climbing, riding, and walking are all ok. Enjoy that new scoot and post us photographs! You can see mine at my posts. JackZ Ft Collins, CO Yep, I ride in all directions, but down, and am ready to go UP but am in no hurry!

Put in 134 miles yesterday along the foothills of the Rockies. MORE on Saturday. My retirement schedule does limit me some. Come on buy, and we'll do a spin together. Jack Z Ft Collins, CO

I am thinking of pointing Zfrebird towards Ind., and I have famly in Des Moines as well. Still wondering if this young 'bird' of the 71 can endure, but what the heck, if I can scoot over there to Newton (been there as I've lived in Iowa, Atlantic and Des Moines) then I will HAVE to endure! LOL. JackZ The buy who rides in any direction but down, and iz ready to ride UP, but I ain't in no hurry! And of course I'll bring my camera!

... I think someone here posted about motorcycle cops who stopped for coffee and donuts and parked on fresh asphalt in the hot summer sun. I THINK the cops had to cut off their kick stand to get going. But then what? Yup, I carray a free give away from the Longmont Yamma Dealer and it works fine, .... IF I note the kickstand sinking into the dirt soon enough. JackZ:nanner:

... create one as great about motorcyclist wearing helmets. I see the possibilities of sudden death EVERY time I see someone riding without a helmet. As a hospital administrator I did my weekend shift to be on duty in ER, and I have seen too much of the results. I ride full face, and still feel the wind in my face. And yes, I've been down with the helmet on, watching the pavement go by, ... that didn't get a chance to touch my face at all. I have seen. How can we get others to see? :Venture:shadow of WY. Today low to mid 50's then upper 50's through Sunday. Haven't seen next week yet. Put in ca 55 miles today, and plan even more tomorrow. Got to drink at the trough of the Rockies when we can, even if on the foot-hill roads. Still blue sky and sun, ... and warmer! NEVER thought it would come. Go for it WY!!!! Yea. JackZ Jack Tharp Ft Collins, CO The guy who rides in any direction but down, is ready to go up, but in nooooo hurry!

... drive the rocky Mt Roads to the peaks. It will be a trip you will NEVER forget. I filmed it on video though, so no still shots yet. At times it scared the SHIFT out of me, as we were right on the edge, with the side of the jeep just 2' from stone, and in grandma gear. But on top? There is a silence that is now where else. Nowwhere that I've been. I bowed to the almighty of this glorious world. THEN I felt safer back on Zfrebird. JackZ Ft Collins, CO

Another Center Stand Question
Zfrebird4 replied to elmicko's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
... I was taught to do it the way Ccedoo described, and it's always worked. OF course I have never put the center stand down on anything but solid pavement; dirt or gravel, no; and when the latter, with a circle 'plater' where the kick stand goes. I carry one in my right front side pocket all the time. Mud and the side kick stand are N O T a good combination. Enjoyed the post folks! Jack Z -
ALL of us were there with you wishing we could have done your trip together with you, but could not due to work, weather, money and (for me) age. Ah, but 50's and upper 50's thorugh Sun here in Ft. I learned I could retire 2/1997 on my hearing disabilities based on what I heard without my hearing aids. = NUTTIN! Leaggggggly deaf. So I thought, why live with the corporate and church stress. Loved it ever since, and greatefull for my retirement plans. Now I just ride, and enjoy friends and life. Ft Collins, CO: $225 per year, 86 VR, full coverage, but NO towing. There is a multi car discount. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE ... I can just get a stand alone policy for (or that includes) towing? TKs. JackZ

I'd buy this, but it is too low to the ground for the Dragon's Tail! LOL I'd also buy the new Victory Vision! Then I'd find the lowest mileage on an 86 VR Ursula Black on Gold and deck her out with everything. THEN I'd GIVE back my existing 86 VR to Squidley to take completely apart, have it repainted, and donate it to VentureRider.org for sale for one of our good causes, of course paying Squidley all the way! Might as well dream, eh? JackZ:Venture: Yup, I'm the guy who rides in any direction but down, am ready to go Up anytime, but certainly in no hurry, ... unless they have a brand new VR 86 waiting for me! Jz:banana:

When I bought my first and new 86 VR in 1985 I was wearing hearing aids, as I am now. So I had the speakers 'indented' into the foam, to allow room for the hearing aids (two then) as they slide into the open room 'slot' with the speakers behind. THAT was the first time I heard true sterio for decades! It was wonderful. No the right ear is shot, and I have what is called a BAHA, Bone Activated Hearing Aid via a titanium screw in the mastoid bone, transferring the right hearing to the good left ear and hearing aid. The BAHA won't stay on the screw in the helmet, so there goest the sterio. Oh, well, it was fun while it lasted. For the hearing impaired who use hearing aids, the VR is the only way to go. With the back ground sound to the in the helmet mike open some, I can also hear hornes, surrounding traffic over the constantly playing cassette or radio. FWIW, that my 's worth. JackZ Yup I ride in any direction but down, and though ready, ain't in no hurry to ride up! Jz
