carb sync, can it be this easy?
Reshired replied to Everette's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
By the way after a little looking around, the colortune set we need for our V4's needs a 12MM plug. Most that are out there come with a 14mm plug. I have not seen any threads on how to do the colortune with our bikes in the library. I did see one on the web below but it left me wondering how to do the adjustments on our bike. http://www.gadgetjq.com/ctune.htm- 14 replies

I jacked up my bike today and removed the plugs because I could still hear some popping. the 3/4 inch rubber stoppers I got were a little loose so I wrapped them with some electrical tape to increase the diameter to make a tight fit. then gave the outside of the pipe with the stopper a couple of wraps with electric tape to seal it and hold it in place better. No air getting threw this time.

Being a new RSTD owner, this is all new to me. I am a pro handy man but not that good a mechanic so help me out here. I ordered a set of Baron 4-2-4s and K&N filters. I went yesterday to ask 2 different dealers what and how much to re tune or re jet the carbs after I install the stuff. One said one hour labor plus parts, the other said 1 hour per carb and quoted me 347.00 to rejet, adding that I HAVE to rejet even if it were just the K&Ns. Reading posts from here and another forum, it sounds like most folks here just re balance the carbs and there is no need to rejet. Who should I believe? should I just order a carbtune pro and do it myself or take it to a dealer and get raked over the coals?- 14 replies

I just got done plugging mine with 3/4 rubber plugs but they kind of got lost in there and they really needed a size bigger. I could not fish them back out so I just left them in there. I think there is still air getting around the plugs some. About 90 % of the popping on decel is gone now. Most of the time I do not hear any popping but it seems like there is still a little which does not hurt anything. I still have not got my new slipons yet but that is just my first impression after just one ride. I did notice the current mufflers making noises after the bike is turned off which tells me they are getting hotter than before.

Just ordered the nasty boys 4-2-4's instead. the only thing holding me back fronm getting those before was the price of the family jewels tips. I ended up spending 517 for everything. Not bad for nasty boys. -

I got a message from the seller last night that they are back ordered till after the 20th. I dont know if it is a bad seller or they are really that hard to get. They asked me if I wanted to re order or keep the order in place. I told them I would like to cancel to re order or look elsewhere. -

stock mufflers!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reshired replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I was tempted to try this so I asked my dealer if it would void the warranty. He said yes it will. Modifying the stock equipment will void the warranty. You can add on aftermarket pipes and have it rejeted. He recomended getting the whole shabang, and not slipons. he said slipons dont do much but make more noise. A good exaust system, K&M filters and rejeting was the way to go according to him. The only thing he said that I dont understand is that he recomended Khrome Werks but after I looked at their site, all they make is slip ons for my bike. After looking around I did not see any one that sold a complete exaust system for a 2008 RSTD. Bub sells a set but they say it is for up to 2007. -
The other company was Liberty Mutual which gives us great rates on our cars does not do much buisness on motorcycles so their rates are a lot higher. You have to shop for the companies that specialize in MI.

I was paying 80 something a month for liability only for just my Harley and when we got the Yamaha, It jumped to 280 something. I took a double take and told my wife that is not right, so I went on line and got with Progressive and got both bikes fully covered for around the same I was paying before for liability on the Harley.
