What I've got are some single lamp LED's I bought off ebay with the resistor already installed to work off 12v. I'm looking at putting several of these in the rear light/reflector that I'm currently replacing since the old one got scared and bailed out on me. There was a schematic either on this site or the venturers website that showed how to wire these where they would work as both brake and running lights. Just don't think it practical to put a bunch of lights in there and have half brake and half running. Anybody got any ideas?

I think I've seen the wiring diagram I need on this site somewhere. What I'm looking for is how to wire a single LED to operate as both a running light and a brake light. Different resistors and a diode are needed if memory serves right. The running lights work at 9v and the brake lights at 12v. Any help with this project?

Rear Light/Reflector

Found one on ebay. Will make sure this one is secure. Looks like the 2 nuts that hold it in place came loose. 8,000 rpm tends to vibrate things loose that usually don't come loose.- 6 replies

Does anyone have a spare center light/reflector for an 86 VR? Seems mine bailed out on me today, possibly while I was embarrassing a Road King that under estimated the get up and go of a 22 year old bike. I guess 85 in second may have shook it loose. Its the one that says Yamaha under the tag.

How about having it in Alabama near Birmingham. Barber's Motorsports Park, Talladega Superspeedway, Bass Pro Shops, several motocycle resorts and some of the most scenic riding in the country.

What size is the threaded holes on the handlebars where a mirror would go on any other bike? I'm looking to put a stud type helmet holder there but don't know if there is one available in that size or if I will need to make one. I've seen these on other bikes but never one on a Venture.

Too bad you didn't get to get it into High Gear -
Give me a holler when you get to Birmingham and I'll tell you a few things you don't want to miss while here. Barber's Motorsorts Museum and 29 Dreams Motorcycle resort are a couple to not miss.

Trunk LED project

Just what I need (according to all my friends), more lights. Let me know a few more details. I've been looking at doing just what you've done but wasn't sure if it was possible without it turning into something major. -
Does anyone know if Yamaha made chrome rotor covers for the 1st gen VR's? I've seen a couple of bikes with them but the answer I always get when I ask the owner about them is that the bike had them when purchased. I am looking for a set so I can install a Ring of Fire. Any help from anyone?

I think I can dig one up off an old wrecked bike I know about. Will have to wait until tomorrow to go check.

SLOW???? My 86 did an 11.98 quarter last fall and all I did was empty out the trunk and saddlebags. It will easily run over 100 mph in 3rd gear if you can stand turning it up to redline rpms. Outrunning a Harley will make you do strange things.

Chrome parts for an 86?
JimRoberts replied to JimRoberts's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Talked with a friend of my dads that has an 84 Venture he has rebuilt. He's working on getting the info together about converting the chrome rotor covers off a 1200 Goldwing to fit a Venture. He's also going to get me info on folding passenger armrests converted off a Goldwing. He has both these installed on his bike. -
My 86 Royale is getting 39-42 mpg on a regular basis since I ride it to work almost daily. As with anything, the more you get in the throttle, the lower the mpg!!!
