  1. Oh boy….. 82 YZ250 mx’r 85 max 1200 Honda CB500 97 Magna 750 99 RSV13TF Learned most basic skills racing motocross in the early 80’s, thought I had street skills and jumped on the V-Max and realized that was too big a jump. Hopped on a little 500 and acted stupid, and then rode the Magna for a few years. Was planning to get a Goldwing, and even drove one for about 4 miles and decided that adjusting to a non-moving fairing was not on my bucket list. Wanted the reverse, but too many years and experiences with a fairing that moved with the front end. Then I met my RSV, and decided that maybe having a reverse wasn’t all that special after all.
  2. Unfortunately I can’t use those on mine. I had already replaced my Dunlop D404 when I found this post, but I checked with Yamaha and it the Shinko doesn’t fit my rim. I’m going to try the Bridgestone G703 and 02 next though. Costs a little bit more, but I like the tread and reviews, so we’ll see.
  3. I’ve read a couple threads on here about running some seafoam through the first tank of gas after the winter season. I used to have to do that with a Honda Magna I had for a few years. Always leaked between the carbs during the first startup in spring.
  4. I just went through eBay and got a shop manual. I could get a digital version or hardback version, and I went with the actual book. I guess I’m just old school.
  5. Since this post has about a year of time on it, I have to ask….. did you find a better tire? I have a ‘99 Royal Star with the Dunlops and there are times where I get like a floating sensation, or as you described riding in the ruts feel, mainly on the interstates or high speed bypasses. Been debating whether to try a different brand or not, or if it’s just me.
  6. Had to get our main man help me with the picture uploads. Wondering if he ever sleeps… I was looking at the Goldwings, and I know some of us have them, but I couldn’t get over the fairing not turning with the front wheel. I love the fact that the RSV does, so I’m enjoying the “Silverwing”.
  7. I was having to turn it pretty quick to the right and wrestle it up at the same time to get it up. I found a discussion on here where someone else had a problem with their bike leaning. Somebody said to measure from the center of the choke knob to the floor and it should be 24 inches. Mine was 21 1/2 inches. Now it’s dead on 24 and it’s almost effortless to stand it up. Like someone shaved 500 lbs off my bike. Loving it 😎
  8. Will try the circled arrow!! Been trying to use the picture icon in the taskbar on the message board, and no luck. Fingers crossed…..
  9. I have visited here a few times, because I was having an issue with my side stand, and how far my RSV was leaning. I was happy to see, and read, some good advice and directions on what to check. Ended up spending the money and replaced the side stand and nut/bolt/collar. I can not tell you how much better it is now!! No more center stand overuse for me! At 62 and a whopping 165lbs, pulling my bike up from a hard lean was quite the challenge. I had almost concluded that I needed a lighter bike, but hated the idea of letting her go. Much better now!
  10. Lived in New Mexico for a few years (13) and when I lived in Alamogordo we would ride the horses up the mountain trails to Cloudcroft because it was about 20 degrees cooler than down in the flats. Ruidoso is the same way, only I rode the bike there because of the distance. Some pretty country with wide open views.
