  1. hey Carl: My 04 Midnite is for sale as well, it has EVERYTHING you can get on it....almost. All our riding gear, headsts, drive on ramp;, the whole shooting match. Runs like a hungry teenager, A decent offer would do it, and we can work on the receipt for Mr. McGuinty as well. gunk:shock3:
  2. Thanks Tom, we appreciate it. gunk:shock3:
  3. Tom: If you would be so kind, it would be very much appreciated if you could also PM the address to Beth and I as well. We would really like to send a card of support for Ponch and his family, it would mean a lot to us. gunk:shock3:
  4. I just did mine. I ordered a slave cylinder rebuild kit before I tore the old one down....the walls were scored, so I just ordered a whole new slave cylinder from Pinwall cycle on e-bay, cheap and fast. The clutch line does run under the bike, and fluid will run down the line from the bleeder or the slave itself, so don't automatically assume the line leaks....don't ask me how I know this, but suffice it to say that there is also a new from Pinwall clutch line on the bike as well. And then I rebuilt the master cylinder too! The rebuild is simple to do, really quite straight forward. After taking my old slave apart, it would be easy to do. I still have the slave cylinder rebuild kit if you want it....I paid $17 plus shipping, it's yours for $12 plus shipping if you want it. When you go to purge the air, reverse feed the brake fluid....you might as well change it all. Go to your local drug store, buy a rubber bulb type thing that has a variety of uses, perhaps cleaning one's ears.......make sure all your fittings are tight, I removed the cylinder fin which is only 3 allen head screws, removed the bleeder, and pumped the brake fluid up into the master....slowly...very slowly or it will squirt all over.......once again...don't ask me how I know this......if you have to refill the bulb, just stick your finger over the bleeder hole...once your master is full, replace the bleeder, do a conventional air bleed a couple of times, and you are good to go. gunk:shock3:
  5. At a loss for words right now........David and Cathy will be at the top of our list. They are two of the kindest, most decent people that we have met. randy and beth
  6. Condor: Does that ever work slick! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Saved me hours, maybe days of bleeding, sweating, cursing...high blood pressure pills...you get the picture! That worked like 10 men! gunk:shock3:
  7. Thanks for the tip Condor.....we got 'er done...now to bleed the old gal! A whole new story.... gunk:shock3::shock3:
  8. No honing for sure....would kind of kill the tolerance....and my tolerance too! gunk:shock3:
  9. Roflmao! Well put Carl, wouldn't we make a cute couple? Beth used a betahistamine that she got from the doc, and she gets sick on a swing. It worked great! When we get the boat down here...and I get a day off, I'll call you to get you out for a cruise....but I'll make sure that Beth is there too Hey, my son and I installed the rebuild kit on the master cylinder....I also replaced the clutch line and the slave cylinder. We attempted to bleed it, again, and again, and again...so for now I've left the cover off the master, and tie wrapped the clutch lever to the handlebar...I hope that it bleeds itself overnight. We're going to attack it again tomorrow and see how we make it. Got lots of fluid from the bleeder, but no pressure in the lever as yet. I may be back for more advice......... Oh, and the sailboat is a 1986 Bayfield 29...easy to google if you'd like to see what she looks like. randy:shock3:
  10. Yammer! How the heck you been my pot stirrin' friend? All quiet on the "southern" front? LOL! I've been busy as heck at work, today is day 17 of 19 consecutive shifts, with a few 12 hour shifts thrown in just to really screw me up. All is well here, Beth is doing well, the old 96 is sold as you probably saw posted above, the Venture is taking a bit to move. We've bought a new to us boat, should be interesting to say the least. Big change for me, bought my first bike when I was 12 or 14...lol..can't remember, too long ago. We are "prepping" for retirement with this boat, and if Beth can handle the "motion of the ocean", we'll be selling it in a few years, getting our larger boat...and when retirement finally hits....8 to 10 years for me to go...then we head south..no more winters....snow...cold...freezing rain...you know exactly what I'm saying! Tired of the dang cold. Beth and I both really missed MD at Don's this year....all our friends were there...and we weren't. We're going to work on that next year, even though we'll probably have to take a car to get there...I hope...sort of...if the Venture sells...lol! Thanks for reaching out my friend...once this work schedule settles down a wee bit, I'll be back on this forum to keep track of all you guys! gunk:shock3:
  11. Thanks Carl, I appreciate the response, great advice! I have to prep the 96 for my "final ride" up to Blind River, ON. Already replaced the slave cylinder, clutch hose/line, and now the master cylinder rebuild. Sold it to a buddy of mine, and I'm taking his Bayfield 29 sailboat...or he's taking my royal star as partial payment. I don't think I've put 600 k's on the Venture so far this year....it's up on Kijiiji with everything including the gps, but no serious offers as yet. I think I'll probably have to sit on it over the winter and it will go in the spring. Beth and I will sail the new to us boat down here to Amherstburg from Blind River next year, which is quite exciting. A whole new "venture" for the two of us. Once again, thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! Ride safe! gunk:shock3:
  12. I've got the rebuild kit...anyone rebuilt a clutch master cylinder? I have to rebuild my 96 royal star clutch master cylinder...just looking for any helpful hints to get the job done! Thanks gunk:shock3:
  13. Safe travels for Roy, he and his son will be in our thoughts. gunk and beth
  14. Hi Gary and Mary: Thanks for the recommendation....but we only did what trained first responders do...and what friends do for friends. Scary at the time, but the training kicks in and takes over. We're just really happy that you are OK....and that even your feet have warmed up Friends are there for friends...and we're just glad that we were able to be there for you and Mary. randy
  15. No merit badge needed here my friend, just really glad that we could be there for you and Mary in your time of need. When I woke up this morning, there was something driving me to you...I don't normally ring doorbells at 8:30 a.m. unless it's pre-arranged. Don't know how or why, just knew that we had to be there. Beth had wanted to stop at the Crepe place in Cottam, but for some reason I just couldn't. Awesome to hear that you are ok! Carry on as if you are normal my good friend...after all, that's what I have been doing for a lifetime myself. gunk:shock3:
  16. Hey Brad! We are going to leave it up in the North Channel of Lake Huron for a year or so before we sail it down here...when it gets here, I'll make sure to let you and Rhonda know...then we can break it in right gunk:shock3:
  17. Sure wish I could Condor....it would be an issue both financially and time wise. Bought my first bike when I was 12 years old, a Bombardier 50 c.c. two wheeler...so it's kind of in my blood......it's gonna be a new road for me to travel, although I have owned a sailboat and really enjoy it as well! gunk:shock3:
  18. Thanks my friend, we appreciate it! Hey, visit us anytime on the boat...tell Lonna we'll have all the ingredients for a cheesecake! gunk:shock3:
  19. Thanks for the kind words Ponch, they all mean a lot to us. We plan on leaving the new to us boat up north for a year or so, then sail it down here. Run it for a few years, then sell it, get a large boat, outfit the way we want it...sell off the house, retire....then, as the saying goes...sail off into the sunset! You and Li'l Bit are welcome on the boat, in our house, anytime you want! gunk:shock3:
  20. Thanks Carl, got it ordered today. They wanted $39 for shipping, so I had it sent states side and will pick it up when it gets here. So far, rebuilt the slave cylinder, replaced the line, and now will rebuild the master. Can't be much left....
  21. Thanks Yammer, much appreciated. You take care and continue healing up...we'll have to set up a li'l race between your 1st gen and the new to us boat gunk:shock3:
  22. Thanks for the kind words Larry, you and Joyce are certainly two of our favorites we've met through this site. Great folks! We are trying to look ahead and make this happen as efficiently as we can. We'll be keeping in touch! gunk:shock3:
  23. Hi All: Haven't been around much, working too much o/t and having to get the house ready really sucked. I need a new master cylinder for the clutch on my 96 royal star. It's pooched. Would anyone have one around that they'd like to part with? Pinwall only has one, and somebody wants it a lot worse than I do, the bidding is up over $100 for it already. If you have one available, or know where I can get a rebuild kit, I'd appreciate hearing from you. The old royal star is sold, and I have my 04 midnite venture on the block as well...it appears that we are getting out of biking and heading sailing. Retirement is about 10 years away...and we'd like to do it on a sailboat somewhere warm...like the Caribbean. More to follow on that. Thanks, and hi to all that Beth and I know! gunk:shock3:
  24. I've got a set for sale that are on my 96 royal star, I don't like them, they are too much of a stretch for my 32 inch inseam...otherwise, they look awesome. They don't have 800 miles on them, probably don't have 800 kilometres on them....$300 and you pay the shipping...but be forewarned, they are heavy! They listed at $700 when I got them off of e-bay last year from a dealer in Kentucky clearing out stock. gunk:shock3:
