Hey Doug!!! Glad to see that you made it here. Now we'll have to get you lined up for maintenance day over at Freebird's Memorial Day weekend. Freebird is over in Ohio. You'll see, learn, and eat lots!!! I've seen pics of your bike, it's sweet! Keep an eye on the meet and eats posted over the winter, I'll buy your dessert! randy:hihi:

Transmission will not shift
gunkylump replied to horse00416's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I had a similar issue with my royal star. It was the "Y" fingers in the internal part of shifter....1 of them fell off, and jammed things up. It was about a 3 hour job if I remember right. Not sure about your tail-headlight issue, sounds like a fuse to me. randy- 7 replies

Googling shows me about a 1400 mile trip on the most direct route.....probably a 3 day ride for us. We'll see how the vacations get set up next year, and see what comes up. Don't be too surprised if we invade your space for a week.....Texas should be big enough for all of us randy:witch_brew:

Bought our 04 in July of 04...now have 88,331 k's on it, but only put on 10,000 this year due to work issues.....the issues are working 6 days a week leaves no time for riding, dang it! I know, at least I'm working, but hire some more people so we can have a life! It's my second royal star, my original, which I just re-purchased, had 93,000 k's on it when I sold it....5 years after I bought it. I love these royal stars!! randy:smile5:

Got ours in Cherokee, North Carolina at a shop there. Had it for two years now, slid it in between the windshield and the fairing. I have to use my gps now to know how fast we're going, as the bag hangs down low enough to make it difficult, but not impossible to see the speedo. Nice tri-bag, studded, and was about $50. I keep earplugs, garage door opener, rolaids, pen, paper, whatever in it. I like the look. randy:pushups:

Beth and I are discussing where we're headed next year.....I'll have at least 2 weeks...Texas keeps coming up first.....what's the best month to head down there...June, July or August...or even September? Maintenance day installs? I'll be first in that line up!!! randy:smile5:

Hi Ponch!! How about a full package, guages and all, shipped to the great white north? I'd be interested in a full package, polished aluminum plate, adapter and guages..... randy:pushups:

Best of luck to you, concentrate on the big stuff right now, and that big stuff is you and your health, biking is secondary. Make sure you hang right here and keep us informed of your progress, which is going to be positive all the way. gunky:thumbsup2:

The conchos are Yamaha conchos, and the studs I used were, oh boy, that was 11 years ago.....I remember purchasing them off the internet......I think if you were to use stainless steel that they wouldn't rust, I'm not sure about the nickel studs that are out there....maybe someone else will chime in and offer some hints. The fella that I'm getting the bike from says that he still has owner's manual and all of the receipts that I kept, maybe the receipt for the studs is still there....I'll check when I get the bike, and if it is I'll let you know.

I bought a plain royal star in 1996, and dressed it up from there, the way I liked it. I was single at the time, and spent quite a bit of time on the bike. Well, I met Beth, we hit it off, she wanted and deserved a better ride(air ride, tunes, intercom, comfy seat and backrest) and besides, the extra horsepower, looks, and electronic cruise did not hurt my feelings either. Couldn't afford to keep both, so I sold the royal star to a friend of mine, but said that I'd love to have it back if and when I could afford it. He traded it in on a Kawasaki Vulcan touring model, and I lost track of the bike, but was told by the dealership that he traded it in at that the fellow that bought it lived in a small town called Coboconk, which was about an hour and a half away, at the time. I always watched for the bike, hoping to meet the new owner, but it just did not happen. We moved back to the Windsor, ON area, and it's been 5 years since I've seen the bike. Well, guess what? While cruising the SCRC sites of the Ontario chapters, I found my old bike, and it WAS for sale. WAS being the key word, because today the most recent owner and I came to an agreement on my purchasing my royal star back. Isn't that something? What the heck are the chances of that happening??? Gotta love my wife, she is letting me go through with this. We are going to travel about 6.5 hours next Sunday and pick it up to bring back home!!! Here's a link to the pic of the bike that he had posted...... http://forums.delphiforums.com/Durham261/messages/?msg=1729.1 Isn't it sweet? So, now I have two royal stars in the garage, my old 96 plain jane, and the 04 Midnite Venture. I am certainly one lucky son of a gun!!! gunky

anyone interested in some diamondr saddlebag light bars?
gunkylump replied to Cinderella's topic in Watering Hole
Those are awesome lights, and that is one HECK of a price. I have them on my bike already, and love 'em. They look great at night, no excuse for anyone not seeing you coming. Those, along with the stebel horn....kind of make me feel a little bit like a semi.... Anyone even slightly interested, grab them, you won't regret it a bit!!! Hi Cindy and Dale!!! gunk:smile5: -
Thanks Randy, we hope to make it there sometime Monday. We're looking forward to the usual warm, sunny weather and great hospitality which keeps us coming back to your area. The plan is a couple of days there and then "tourist" our way back north to home. Would be nice to meet you for a coffee or a ride while we're down there! randy:happy34:

Weather looks good enough for us! Our friends got in around 7 last night, we hit a birthday party, and I'm just waiting for some movement in the house now that the coffee is made! Safe riding here we come!, call you when we get back. randy:scratchchin:

Gary and Mary: Say hi to "Nanook" for us, and hopefully the weather gets better for you up there. It really is a unique part of the world. When we all get home, we have to get together for a "dinner on the barbe" and enjoy each other's company once again. randy:happy34:

Not enough time to get to the Hub, but Beth and I are on vacation.....one whole week! We're heading down to Pigeon Forge once again, but this time a couple of friends with BMW's are coming with us....(yup, I have friends, they just don't know any better). First time for them in the Smokie's....really looking forward to the time away. We're heading out first thing Sunday morning, have to attend a 60th birthday celebration today. saddle bag lid bras
gunkylump replied to foundryratjim's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Just around the edges...that way if I ever tire of the look or want to replace them, pull 'em off, get the goo gone and a case of beer and remove the contact cement....maybe randy:doh: -
saddle bag lid bras
gunkylump replied to foundryratjim's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I installed mine early this season, they were a "gift" from Santa.....so far, so good! They look great, and so far, not everyone has them, so they are "unique" and create some great comments. I like them, and I don't worry about Beth scuffing the lids anymore. Yup, a pain to install, but the end result is worth the aggravation. I actually cemented mine with contact cement, instead of using the tubing. Made for a tighter fit! randy:smile5: -
When I was looking for mine, I went to the local Harley dealer in Peterborough, I was living in the Lakefield area at the time, and went to the service desk and just plain asked if they had any. Got mine from the service manager!! randy:cool10:

Hey Canuck: I get my oil and filters at Canadian Tire. They carry the fram filters, and I use the synthetic oil that they sell. A little pricey, but good oil! Hope this helps a wee bit. randy:cool10:
