  1. Gary: Our thoughts go out to you and yours at this time. Be strong for your family in the days ahead. We feel your pain in facing the days ahead with your mother in law. On a much more positive note, it's so awesome to hear that you are gainfully employed once again! Take care Gary! randy and beth
  2. Hey Tom! Sorry to hear about your back! Not a good thing, hope it heals up quick for you. I'll send you a p.m. with our cell phone # when we get to San Antonio...I think we should be there Tuesday, Beth wants a couple of days there before we head over to the Tomball area. I'm pretty sure our cell works in the States, if it doesn't, I'll send you the phone # of the hotel we're staying in...it'll most likely be a Hampton Inn. Thanks a lot for the offer to ride over with us...much appreciated! gunk:)
  3. Get ready, we'll be on our way tomorrow after work! Expect to land in San Antonio on Tuesday, and hit the Hampton Inn in Tomball by Friday! We're gonna meander down....spend the weekend with y'all, and then meander back up north and then settle in for the YECH....winter months which are on the way. I've dubbed it the flat @ss tour of 2010.....it will probably fit quite nicely Yup, we're excited, and yep, we're ready(I think). See y'all in a week! gunk and beth:fingers-crossed-emo
  4. No changes, just more chrome...and more $$$$$ http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/products.php?model=3589&class=1&group=M|&LANG=en Lunch bag let down! gunk:stirthepot:
  5. We'll post on the forum when we plan on leaving Tomball/Conroe and when we expect to be passing through....we'll pop in for a coffee if you're home. gunk:)
  6. Thanks Evan, the excitement is building each day we're closer to leaving.....hopefully the weather holds and our plans work out! gunk:whistling:
  7. Wow KiteSquid.....glad you and the missus are pretty much ok....the bike can be replaced. We just recently purchased textile summer gear, having already owned the spring/fall textile gear. I hope we never have to use it...but Beth insisted that we should both have it last year. Beautiful part of North America up that way though, isn't it? gunk:shock3:
  8. http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/select.php Does this work? gunk:Laugh:
  9. Cedar Point? I've never been, but one of these days. And yup, it is hot here for sure....my first summer working on surface has been too dang hot for me! Have fun riding the rails Brad. gunk:happy34:
  10. Right back at ya bud.....you da man! gunk:thumbsup2:
  11. Ask to see all maintenance receipts. Ride it! Feel the brake rotors for scoring. Ride it.! Check color of anti-freeze(bottle under seat) Ride it.! Check tires, all plastic, radio, speakers.... Ride it!(dang dyslexic fingers.....keep repeating themselves)grin Listen to the motor....as you Ride it! I don't know what else to tell you...riding it, and checking what you would on most other bikes will do it....if he has the maintenance records...they'll speak for themselves. gunk:shock3:
  12. Hey Tinman: This is my second royal, I have a 96 as well. In my opinion, for what it's worth....$ for $, right now, the Venture is the best touring bike out there. Yup, there's others worth more, other's maybe a little less...but dollar for dollar, with the 5 year warranty and all, it can't be beat. It's a little top heavy....some have a "whine" to 'em....have a look at those for sale here on the site as well...you know that most if not all of those have been well taken care of.....I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if anything were to happen to ours....but I wouldn't replace it with anything but another of the same. Easy to work on, great looking, pretty good on fuel....and they just keep going, and going and going. There's lots of aftermarket parts available...and the camraderie gunk:Venture:
  13. Thanks Tinman, we sure are looking forward to it all! It's gonna be another dandy! After 3 years of the Smoky Mtns., it's time to see something new! gunk:shock3:
  14. Not everybody gets to vacation in Saskatchewan...especially when there's no snow! Folks toes ought to be thawed out just in time for the next freeze up in September Enjoy your trip as well....one of these days we'll hit B.C.! gunk:big-grin-emoticon:
  15. Hey K! We'll see about fitting you in....we've budgeted for motels for 2 weeks, thanks for the offer!(Heck, we're still newlyweds, wouldn't want to keep you up all night) Not sure exactly where you're at...but I'll look it up on the map before we head down your way. gunk:big-grin-emoticon:
  16. We figure on arriving in your area, Conroe/Tomball Friday sometime Squid....sure will be great seeing y'all again! gunk:Laugh:
  17. We're heading out on vacation this Friday after work, hope to make it somewhere down in Ohio on Day 1. Beth and I are both off for 2 weeks, and we've made some plans. Memphis...paddle wheeler, Uncle Lou's Chicken, Graceland....Nashville...who knows what? Then off we go like a herd of turtles to San Antonio.....the Alamo, Riverwalk....then over to Tomball-Conroe to meet up with the "Texans". Then, it's off to Savannah, and mosey on north back home. It might not look like much of a plan, but we stop where and when we want to....see something, let's stop....that type of trip. The bike has new front brakes, new Elite 3 tires back and front, going to do fresh engine oil and rear diff oil one night this week.....we did a 700 k trip yesterday, and all appears well, as it should. Yup, we're excited about it.....haven't named it yet...but something along the lines of monkey butt or flat butt tour would probably fit pretty well. Eldest son is taking care of the house, dog and cat....or maybe it's visa versa....hopefully the house is in one piece when we get home So, if you see an 04 Midnite with a couple of smiling, happy Canucks riding...it's probably us! We'll wave at ya. Keep the light on for us! gunk:big-grin-emoticon:
  18. Yup, but don't ride your bike It's the restaurant right on the corner....or we could meet somewhere else if you like.....we also enjoy the Texas Roadhouse restaurants? gunk:Laugh:
  19. Ian should be back Sunday, but he told me to go over and pick it up sooner if needed. Just a thought here.....how about meeting at Mexicantown on Monday night for dinner, Beth has been itching to get over there lately. gunk:shock3:
  20. Hey T.J.: Ian returned my e-mail, and he does still have his old shock, it's sitting in the garage. He's going to donate it to the cause. I e-mailed the fella that lives on the street behind me, but he's already trashed his. So...how are we going to get this over to you? gunk:big-grin-emoticon:
  21. Hey T.J.! Great idea! How you been? Ibents(Ian) just changed his out about a month ago....but he is in Colorado right now...I think? I'll ask him when he gets back from vacation, we could run it over to you one day/afternoon/night gunk:smile5:
  22. I purchased a new set of Dunlop E3's at STS Powersports in Amherstburg Ontario, and had them installed yesterday. With the 20 per cent discount on the price of the tires they gave me without me even asking, I got both tires for just over the $400 mark out the door. That is darn good pricing for up here in the great white north. While there, I was talking to Mark Lossing, one of the mechanics, and he informed me that he has a Dyno, and will do a basic Dyno run for $40. That is CHEAP. It's a brand new Dyno machine, and he wants to make some money to help pay it off. If you're interested in a Dyno run on your bike, just call STS Powersports and ask for Mark Lossing. He does them off site. STS Powersports is a KTM dealer, but they work on all makes and models, and carry all kinds of accessories. They can order in, usually overnight, most parts etc. These are young guys working hard to make a go of it, and they will do whatever it takes to make you a happy, returning customer. They have a website, just google STS Powersports, and go from there. As far as shops worth going to in this area, they've got my business. gunk:big-grin-emoticon:
  23. Four years ago I filled up in Orillia, and headed towards Elliot Lake. I fully expected to fill up just west of Sudbury. Lo and behold...the gas station had closed up since I had last been that way. I continued west....and finally filled up in Nairn Center. I don't remember the exact mileage, but it was a heck of a long ways, approximately 200 miles. I still had gas in the tank, but I was frettin' just a wee bit. This was travelling at an average 90 kph. Remember, the faster you run, the more your mileage decreases.....push some pretty big air with these bikes. I can do a round trip from Amherstburg, ON to Port Stanley, On and not have to fill up, running #3 highway......an impossibility running on the 401. Bottom line, your mileage will vary, but for what this bike is, the fuel economy is pretty darn good. Congrats on the new ride! gunk:big-grin-emoticon:
  24. LOL!!! Ponch, you hit the nail on the head!!! See you in a few weeks! gunk:big-grin-emoticon:
  25. We've had our Frigidaire middle of the line set for 5 years now.....and so far so good! Front loading is great. I've not an opinion on the Whirlpool set, but I'm sure that you'll enjoy the front loading. gunk:big-grin-emoticon:
