  1. I Had An 86' Honda V65 Magna With A Cast Aluminum Rim And It Had Pits Near The Valve Stem Hole Just As You Described. My Front Tire Was Always Going Flat As Well. I Had The Tire Removed From The Rim, Spackled Some Jb Weld Into The Pitted Area, Sanded The Jb Weld With 400 Wet/dry Sandpaper, Had A New Stem And The Tire Reinstalled And Never Had A Problem With The Rim Again! It Was A Bit Time Consumming But Saved Me Buying A New Rim. When You Are Finished Sanding The Jb Weld, There Should Only Be Jb Weld In The Pits, It Should Look Like Little Black Dots Where The Pits Were. If You Are Seeing A "bblack Blob" Of Jb Weld Then You Have Applied To Much. No Problem, Just Keep Sanding Till All But The Pits Are Filled.
  2. Hi To All, Here Is My Problem: The Left Front Caliper Is Not Working At All. The Left Front Rotor Is In Very Bad Shape. After Checking The Threads In Tech. Talk For The First Gen. Vr I Know I Need To Rebuild The Caliper But When I Checked On The Purchase Of A New Lf Rotor I See That The Part Is Discontinued. But The Rf Rotor Is Still Offered. Are We Putting A Rf On The Lf Rotor, Should I Try To Buy A Used One? I Did Notice That I Am Getting Uneven Brake Pad Wear On All Three Calipers, Does This Mean Rebuilds On All Three? And Finally How Many "kits" Do I Need To Do The Rebuilds For The Front Calipers? When Looking At The Part Numbers, There Seem To Be Multiple Part Nos. Listed. I Know The "brake Thing" Has Been So Done Before But I Don't Feel "warm And Fuzzy" About Riding An 850 Pound Sled With Marginal Brakes. Any Help, Used Parts Or Suggestions Would Be Greatly Appreciated. I Hate To Miss This Great Weather But Feel That This Issue Needs To Be Addressed Asap! Thanks Again, Skydoc_17
  3. I Ran The Castrol Gtx 20/50 In My 86' Vr For The Entire Time I Owned It Which Was A Bit Under 123,000 Miles In Sothern California Heat, And Run The Same Castrol In My 87' Vr As Did The Previous Owner And It Has Over 72,000 Miles On It Now. It Must Be Only Me But I Think Oil/filter Changes Are Fun Things To Do To Your Own Bike, I Like Spending The Time In The Garage, Just Me And My Bike. I Try To Never Let The Oil Change Go Past 3000 Miles And Have Never Had A Major Motor Problem. I Do Run The Honda Full Synthetic In My V65 Magna (10,000 R.p.m. Red Line) But That Bike Has Very Few Miles On It And See's A Lot Higher Revs.
  4. I Think Muffinman Has An Excellent Idea, If You Could Post The E-mail Address Of The School President We Could Send Endless E-mails To The School And As A Result It Would Be Easier For Him(or Her) To Intervene On Your Behalf Than Answer Or Delete All Of The E-mails. Just A Thought.
  5. I Installed The Jardine Exhausts On My 87' Vr Recenty, They Are Somewhat Louder Than Stock, The Quality Of The Chrome Is Excellent! In Fact It Is So Good It Makes The Chrome On The Rest Of The Bike Look A Bit Shabby. So Far, I Have Not Had To Rejet The Carbs., And I Did Notice An Increase In Throttle Responce, I.e. The Bike Winds Up Quicker. The Power Increase Was Modest. I Can Still Hear The Radio, But Can't Hear The Tranny Whine Anymore. If You Enjoy The Wisper Smooth Ride Of The First Gen. Vr Then These Are Probley Not The Pipes For You. If On The Other Hand You Would Like To Add A Little "thump" To The Sound Of Your Vr Then These Pipes, In My Opinion Would Be A Good Choice. I Got Mine From The Guy On Ebay In Early Winter For $195 Plus Shipping, They Were A Snap To Install, The Only Problem I Have Had With Them Is The Centerstand Rubber Cushions Push The Stand Down About 15 Degrees And The Stand Drags Slightly During A Turn When I Am Two Up.
  6. Of The 12 Or So Bikes I Have Owned Over The Many Years I Have Been Riding, For Some Reason, The First Time I Got On A First Generation Venture Royal I Felt Like It "fit Me Like A Glove"! I Was Impressed With The Power, The Way It Sat, The Creature Comforts, Etc. I Am One Of Those People That Feel That You Can Become Attached To A Machine. Many People Have Nick Names For Their Rides And Some Feel That They Can "hear" When Their Bike Is Acting Up. I Like To Think That I Am One Of Those People. I Believe That Part Of The Passion Of Riding Is The Enjoyment Of Being Pearched On A Fine Running Machine, With All The Power Available At The Twist Of The Grip. Truely, In Life Where Does A Man Get The Chance To Be In That Much Control The Way Things Are Now?!?!...just A Thought.
  7. Merlin, With My Company Discount, I Can Get The Radio Remote Control Box For Your Vr From Yamaha For $281.74 Plus Shipping. There Is Also A Bracket That Bolts To The Handlebar And A Few Screws. That Cost Is About $10.00 Plus Shipping. Hope This Helps. Skydoc_17 Earl
