Had to replace the rear 17" wire wheel with a stock original. Rear wheel was defective (it was not correct size on ID of bead), and had a story of its own. I took it to the metals recycling yard so no one tried to mount another tire on it.

I'm using Metzeler ME 888

The trick I found (elsewhere) is to get the right side into the boots, and then push over to the right, to get the left side in.

Does anyone have tips and tricks to drop the 4 carb assembly down on the rubber manifolds. I don't like forcing them. The engine is v'd around the crankshaft, and the carbs are in a V setup along the length of the bike, so the manifolds are too close together if you just try dropping them down. Tips and trick. Already tried warming the manifolds with a heat gun..

Yep, I'm kinda wondering too. It was sold to the first owner by a second dealer, with 72 miles on it, in 2001. It was knocked over in a burglury or some stuff...Then, the owner that I bought if from had it from 72 miles till I bought it. Seventeen inch wire wheels, funny tire sizes, and the full 4 outlet BuB exhaust.

So I bought a bike to get me back on riding a bike after new knees. Wife loves the idea. I found a Very nice bike for cheap 2400 miles, because it only idled. Wound not move. Im rebuilding the clogged up carbs now, but THEN I need to replace the tires. Rear wont hold air Size rear 180/55 zr 17 front 150/60 zr 17 On wire wheels. Been on bike since new. 4 into 4 bub pipes. These tires seem Too low. I like the big soft tires the bikes originally had. What size (and brand/model if you wish) should I put on these lovely 17" wheels? Tubes?

Use chevron techroline in the tank. SeaFoam is junk, and does Foam everything it touches. You need to remove the carbs and replace needles and seat on bad carbs (I think 2 carbs use that hose). It's alot of work. The problem may be the o-rings on the seat itself, which should also be changed. Check all jets while at it. It looks like this
