  1. thanks for all the input.....my son is still in the "considering" phase.......
  2. My son is looking to purchase his first (used) bike. He is contemplating the 1100cc RoadStar. He is looking for some input about the bike and I told him I would post on this forum and see what comes up. He weights 160lbs and is 6' tall - his girl friend weighs maybe 100 lbs. would there be any problem with the 1100 pulling that small weight? Any inputs or suggestions are appreciated. I don't want him to overspend on this bike - so if he does decide on the RoadStar I will be back asking questions about the correct $$ to spend on the particular bike he is looking at, thanks to all.

  9. I didn't have the honor of knowing Mark but that doesn't easy the pain of his loss. Life is ever so precious - let's not forget to give thanks to God for each day - let's not forget to tell those we love just how special they are - let's not forget to lift Marks family up in prayer and support.
  10. i purchased a Carbtune about two years ago and shortly thereafter sync'd my carb. i thought it wouldn't hurt to re-sync, so i hooked up the Carbtune and lo and behold all four bars were within a gnat behind of each other. to those who are more familiar with syncing, my question - "is it normal for the carbs to stay synchronized"? btw the bike has been running great and i don't really have any complaints after 36k miles.
  11. if you've only got 1000 miles left on the tire, go ahead and bite the bullet and replace it now. i can tell you from experience regular plugs aren't the answer ( emergency use only ),as someone else stated you should use an inside patch / plug as the only means to assure yourself that you've done the best you can short of replacing the tire. a quick trip to the ER with a couple broken bones and a bump on the head will cost you $10K....a new tire is much cheaper.
  12. having also lost my dad, i believe i know how you are feeling. your dad will only be as far away as a memory...remember him often. our sympathy and prayer are sent.
  13. i've put approx. 30k on my 07 RSTD and unless i wear boots and good socks my feet (especially my right foot) get real hot. my fan works properly, so i gotta believe this is s.o.p. for this bike. best of luck with your new ride.
  14. according to their website these are the only two brands that the manufacture for.....
  15. "bit of a click but nothing, absolutely nothing radio off dash off lights off totally dead"...... i don't believe the starter relay would cause absolutely no power to you gauges and such. sounds more likely to be the ignition switch...that's my 2 cents worth .....best of luck.
  16. many time on car tires when the center is worn, it is due to over inflation. as someone else suggested the tire may have been locked up. at any rate there are zero miles left on that tire.... be careful.

  20. Disregard this post...... upon further inspection i figured out how the cover was mounted.... MY 2007 Midnight RSTD has developed a "Buzzing" sound at high idle and 'at speed' - the noise is coming from the left lower fork cover. this cover has a little movement (the other side is solid) in it causing the buzzing.....i can temporarily fix it by simply pushing on the cover to stop the noise but eventually it starts all over again. I looked at my service manual to see if i could understand how this cover is secured, but the info isn't detailed enough to figure it out. I know we have some very knowledgeable members out there and hope one of you can offer advice. The incessant buzzing going down the road is ANNOYING !! Help ........ Buz
