  1. Sorry for your loss - have lifted you up in prayer.....scripture encourages us.."Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn"....so today i mourn with you.
  2. ours !!...........
  3. my 07 RSTD w/ 27k miles on it did the same thing at the end of my street. i limped it home and let it sit awhile. i refired it but when trying to give it throttle it would sputter and die, but it did idle roughly. it was only running on one cylinder? i did notice the pump was not clicking so i tapped on it with a wrench and it started running fine again. that was several thousand miles ago and it hasn't happened since. i am sure that was a precursor to a future failure. if it happens again i'll have it replaced under warranty....good luck with yours.
  4. I used the Hoppe (Quadzilla) fairing, although it is a bit pricey. it has an awesome stereo and four speakers. It is made for the RSTD therefore it bolts right up. i haven't regretted once the addition and it certainly helps in the cold weather , especially around the hands. Let me know if you need more info....see pic.
  5. glad to hear he is ok. i know there are several on this forum that are insurance agents.... they might clarify this if i am incorrect. his claim should be against his comprehensive and NOT his collision (which generally carries penalties by way of raised rates). my agent told me that an object 'flying/falling' that damages your vehicle is unavoidable (just like a deer jumping in front of you) therefore it should go against comprehensive...i would be sure to have him check this out ........... best of luck.
  6. majority of traffic lights are controlled by inductive loop technology...often the 'footprint' of a motorcycle isn't sufficient to trigger the field...i read somewhere that if you stop the engine and restart it, the magnetics in the starter might trigger the inductive loop?!
  7. scrapping it is one viable option......imo if someone is looking to put it back on the road - i'd rather take that option and save some vintage sheet metal and see it going down the road. i guess i've got a soft spot for seeing older vehicles/bikes on the road.
  8. If you step thru the vid you can see the car involved was very close to the car in front of it - indicating some impatience on his part, coupled with the fact that they had just come to the crest of a hill - where your vision improves and may present the opportunity to pass (albeit illegal) - with these factors in mind one might play the " what if " scenario in their mind before making critical decisions. also if you freeze the frame at 2:05 you will see one lucky bicyclist who barely dodged being part of this accident. The fallen biker appears to have escaped serious injury (hopefully) and the driver of the cage may never have seen the biker bite the dust. Like others have said, this was a totally preventable accident which we can all gain some valuable insight. Merry Christmas to all VentureRiders !
  9. i've carried a leatherman for nearly twenty years - my case worn out on the bottom and being cheap errrr..frugal i just took a piece of an old leather watch band and super glued it to the botton...been holding for several years but after reading you post i took a look at mine and it about due for another watch band repair job......good luck.

  12. happy anniversary and thank you for your service to our great nation....oooohrah !
  13. bongo, looks like the ones you owed were the steel bumper cars (which i actually prefer). i am in process of getting my spare engine rebuilt and will put on a set of SU's when it's done. bought this car about 4 mos. ago and my wife and i have put on at least 6k miles, lots of fun to cruise with the hood (that's British talk for roof) down. i've been thinking about a Miata..............??
  14. prayer offered for Kelly, family, friends and doctors..........
  15. 1977 mgb...........
  16. did you notice how much valve lash there is!? (oops i now see someone had already mentioned that) i am a big fan of simplicity and this fits the bill..... i really like the old hit & miss engines as well.....thanks for shraing
  17. sorry guys... i can't seem to make the video play and i can't delete it from the post - so just ignore it :-(
  18. i know i don't have what it takes to ride this........how about you ? [ame=http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/82031764/]Alpine Coaster Video[/ame]
  19. tornado damage reported 10 miles south of me in Randleman NC. plenty of damage and loss of two lives just north and west of us.
  20. my son recently purchased a BMW 330i - he left it for me to have an alignment done on it - as i started the car, the radio was loud and playing some 20 something style music.... i looked all over the dash for a volume control knob but could not find one... i started messing with the 'i drive' and at least could change stations but it was still loud... when i returned him the car i asked him how to adjust volume....he turned a knob on the dash that was labelled 'navigation system'..... real intuitive eh! nice car but much too complicated for me. hopefully soon cars will drive themselves and free up the next generation of techie drivers to focus on their techie toys.
  21. both are thinking........."are we related?"...........they do kinda look alike .........
  22. fairly impressive......is it me or does it look as though the riders are about to fall off forward ?
  23. don't know about the code.....but you do need to know which slice of bread gets the "ham" and which gets the mayo.......
  24. i am not yet convinced that retirement is all that..........i never really minded working during my life. there are many perks/benefits to retirement but also some moments wishing i was doing something more meaningful and productive. i have been staying busy lately with my British car which my wife and i are greatly enjoying. what say ye other retirees?...................
  25. i guess it's all in the way you interpret what was said.... i saw the statement as a fact or comment - i didn't see any offer. but i totally agree with what you stated concerning sharing drugs........
