brake disk chrome covers
Pegasus1300 replied to 2WHEELSFORME's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It doesn't. As far as I can tell nobody including Yamaha can tell us why the one side is weighted. -
If you are worried about the stability on the lift(providing the lift is on a solid surface) I just put a tie down over the bike from one side of the lift to the other. My lift has rings to run the tie down thru. Bike never moves after that.

I like Eaglewax and have used their products before, but had forgotten about this stuff. I am going to drop over to Auto Zone and get a bottle. Now lets see the pictures of that Spyder!

3-5 gear problems
Pegasus1300 replied to Jpischke's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
So CowPuc gave you the solution back in the 2nd post. This is a common [roblem back in the day. You can fix it yourself in an afternoon. The hardest part is holding the center clutch hub while you remove the retaining nut. Follow the link Cowpuc gave you and you can get thru it.- 21 replies

Congrats on the Venture, that is such a beautiful bike. I too love the white walls,I had them on the Blue 08 RSTD and the really added a lot to the looks. I think the same is true of your RSV. Very classy looking for a very classy guy.

Actually it is a Rewaco. http://www.rewaco.com/ They seem to be a lot of fun and pretty fast and reliable

I bought a 2012 V twin 998 RT in June of last year. I know it is very different from a 3cyl. but the ride is the same. It rides really well not choppy at all.Quiet and smooth. I also came from an RSTD that my wife and I just loved. Other then having to leave the lean behind there is nothing that I miss. Bike has been very reliable. They are complicated machines, so when something goes wrong it can be harder to fix. The 3 cyl machines have a longer oil change interval and no valve adjustments,so there go two of your biggest expenses for maintenance. Can Am has been building power sports vehicles for a very long time and they have a good reputation. The Spyder is no different,it works well. Ours has been reliable for almost 17000 mi. and should continue being so for many more. If you have ridden one and liked it then go find one you like and buy it.

Well let's see. I bought a new 1970 XS1 650 dec 1969. Traded it in in 1972 for a new XS2 650 ( disk brake and electric start). 1977 SR500, 1983 Venture Standard bought in 1986.Kept it until 1993. A couple more XS 650 (late 70's early 80's). After the 83 Venture I bought a 1986 Venture Royale in 1993, a 1987 Venture Royale in 2003( still have) a 1988 Royale in 2004, 2008 RSTD new (wrecked 2011) 2008 RSVS in 2011 (wrecked 2011) now on a Spyder. Other then the last picture of my 86 none of the bikes shown were mine, just examples from the internet

Put a can of Berryman's B12 or Startron in the tank and by the time you get home any carb problems should be resolved. That will be a nice "get acquainted ride"

I would contact Sierra Electronics. They have the headsets, both from J&M and others and their prices are good. www.sierra-mc.com they can also repair your unit if you need it and they can put an aux cable in it so you can run your mp3,satellite radio or whatever thru the radio.

Gen 2 coil frustration
Pegasus1300 replied to Spyder's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Dennis Kirk has Accel coils and these will work just fine. Back in the day when a coil failed we used to go down to K Mart and get a couple of car coils for 5 bucks each and ride off happily into the sunset. As far as I can I see a coil is a coil is a coil. -
Any IBMC members ? Will you be in Kentucky in June ?
Pegasus1300 replied to dave_wells's topic in VentureRider Campers
I am a member but I have decided to go Spyderfest this year in Springfield MO the end of April. It will be a there and back sort of trip. -
They could also be Hard Khrome a very popular brand with Yamaha dealers. In Iceland it may have been frowned on for dealers to offer after market parts and pipes, but it was very common here in the states. I almost bought a new RSTC with bags extra chrome light blue and white. It had the Hard Khrome slash cuts from the dealer.
