OK in looking at the shop manual it looks like you need to remove the upper bracket and then loosen the pinch bolt on the lower bracket. You nay have to tap on it with a dead blow rubber hammer. If you can access one its on page 7-50

I was riding thru Texas in 1973 when a semi shredded a tire in front of me.It was at night but luckily in a lighted area.I was on a fully faired BMW several big chunks of slammed into the fairing and windshield.I dodged the bigger pieces but I can still remember one piece coming out of the dark at my head, trying to duck and having it deflect off the windshield.Glad you are ok and nothing worse then a bruise.

I put the 130/90 on the front of my 08 RSTD and ended up going back to the stock tire. For me the narrower tire made the front of the RSTD too sensative.Remember the RSTD does not have the weight on it that the RSV has and that makes a difference.

Peanut butter topping on your foot.......?

So how much ice cream did you have to put on your foot to make the swelling go down.I've never heard of that before we just used baking soda and ammonia.I bet the ice cream feels a lot better.

Electrical Issue
Pegasus1300 replied to B.P.Sr.'s topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
It appears that you have a set of Kromewerks pipes on your bike. They were one of the 1st companys to come out with a set of pipes for the early Royal Star Tour Classic. Many dealers put them on as an option while still on the showroom floor. -
I believe all the cables are the same from 83 to 93.I know I have used and 83 on an 86. I have found that you can just remove the lower attachment, pull the old core out and then slide the new core in,greased first. This saves some hassel with dealing with the upper end.

I have always gone by the 10% rule.INflate the tires to factory recomended setting then ride until tire is warmed up.Check pressure,if more then 10% over pressure is too low and add accordingly.Factory pressure has always seemed low to me but it is a place to start. The only exception to this was when I ran Avons and they always liked their pressure right at the max listed on the sidewall. 5 -
Did you try Bike Bandit?

Star/Yamaha falling further behind
Pegasus1300 replied to midnightrider1300's topic in Watering Hole
I'm with Don.I have ridden a Roadliner a Stratoliner and a 1700 Roadstar and while they were all nice bikes they were not as comfortable as either my RSTD or RSVS.I have ridden the new Kawasaki and at 6'2" 250Lbs I felt crampted and my wife who is a smaller lady did not have as much room nor was she as comfortable as on the Yamahas.I think that an upgraded V4 in the same style would be a seller.ABS should be an option, fuel injection for emissions, increase displacement only because 1300 now seems puny. The current design could easily go to 1600 or even 1800.Redesign the bags to eliminate the projections inside that cut down on space, update the tooling on the primary drive to eleminate the howl that some have experienced and keep the 5 year warranty.Optional navigation, mp3/ipod/satillite radio interface, bluetooth, heated grips and seats and you would bring the bike into the 21st century.- 51 replies

Our prayers and condolences go out to you and your family. My Dad died in 1970 and I still miss him.I was just getting old enough to appreciate him and start becoming friends as well as a son.Count your blessings, rejoice in the time, and cherish the memories.

Post a picture of your Palomino. I always liked those.Too bad that the broen leather faded so bad in the sun. BTW welcome to the group.Lots of friendly folk here and a wealth on knowledge on the Yamaha V4.

Back to the original post since you have a Batteries Plus battery look on the top,you will see two circles molded into the plastic. You can just pick one of these and drill it out for your probe. This works and does not hurt the battery.I have done this a couple of times,my last battery lasted 5 years.Bypassing/fooling the probe is probably the best way to go but you don't have to if you don't want to.

JB Weld-sight glass window
Pegasus1300 replied to friesman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
New River Cycle Salvage has new sight glasses for motorcycle master cylinders. They are actually made of glass so they don't craze glaze or crack. www.newrivercyclesalvage.com -
Many of the articles and most of the old Bench Wrench tech section are archived at the Motorcycle Touring Society which is the successor to the VTS

looking for a trike kit for my 2003 venture
Pegasus1300 replied to butch882's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
TriKing also makes a kit for the Venture but you have to go to their facility in Florida to have it installed. I have the TriKing on my GW and quite like it tho it does need a rake kit to make it steer better.I will add that this fall from the guy at TrikeTalk. I also ride with a fellow who has a Hannigan on his Venture and had the Hannigan EZ steer put in it.I rode it and it was a dream very easy to steer and a great ride. I know many are happy with their Voyager or Tow Pac kits but if you need 3 wheels go all the way with either a sidecar or a trike. I just did not feel very comfortable with either of the 2 kits.I also ride with 2 people who have put Hannigan sidecars on their bikes, one a Harley Ultra and the other a 1500GW and they really like them also.Check out www.triketalk.com lots of good information about 3 wheelers. -
Since we got the trike Cynthia has taken a turn a couple of times though her hand will only let her go around town a little. We hope it gets stronger as more time and rehab goes into it.So have at it Eileen make Ol Don get you a three wheeler and you cart him around some.
