  1. Yeah the problem is you have to allow for the thickness of the covers when doing this addition. When new, the covers come with a wheel spacer that is machined a little narrower then stock so there is no binding when the axel is tightened.
  2. Thats the way the RSTD should have been done in the first place. It looks really great.
  3. Hey Miles I did my test 43 years ago also in the parking lot of the DMV on a Norton Commando. In Provo Ut. Ut had a brand new license law,a simple written test, then ride around some cones. The only scary part was when the officer administering the test told me to go to the other end of the lot accelerate in 1st gear as hard as I could then stop at a point he was standing behind. I did it but he was a little wide eyed since the front tire was right at his foot:rotf:
  4. There once was a man from LaRue Who found a very large mouse in his stew Said the waiter don't shout or wave it about or the rest will be wanting one too.
  5. Just put the thinner washer under the stock washer resync and you should be good to go.
  6. Thats a great chart,Thanx.
  7. I found a rear tire in the correct tire size for the front tire of my 1990 Goldwing Trike.I went to the rear tire on the front because it has a higher load rating aa wider cross section and puts more rubber on the road.My tire is a bias ply tire from Michelin a Pilot Active. It actually steers easier then the E3 that was there before which was a radial. No real conclutions here just my experience so far.The PA also seems to allow me to corner harder then the E3 and it is getting good wear so far.5000 mi and no real sign of wear yet.I didn't mount it backwards although some say to do that others have said it makes no difference,so I guess thats the camp I fell into.

  11. Do a Google search for paintless dent repair. We have a shop here in Utah that I have used and it seems to work really well.I see now that they are selling the tools to do it yourself. You might want to check it out. That machine is looking good.
  12. I would think that PM would be willing to make one for you in any of their styles but you'll choke on the price. PM= Precision Machine.
  13. You are fighting the good fight and winning as well.I have been in the same fight as well though I didn't start in as big a hole as you. Keep up the good work and you will see long lasting health benefits.

  17. How you could trade off that beautiful 08 S model Venture is beyond me:)? Hope you enjoy the new Glide.I have always liked that style even when Harly first brought them out in the 90's.You all should be very happy with it.Did you find the steering lighter with the weight off the forks?
  18. I did the same thing. There is no real tension that has to be maintained so if the threads are a little shallow it doesn't matter.I hold both clutch and brake covers down with the helmet holders.I also used blue lock tight so the brake side wouldn't come loose.
  19. Reminds me of when i wrecked my 98 RSTD.You are lucky to have had such minimal damage to yourself. This could have been much worse.Glad to see you putting yourself back together.

  23. If you can find an old line mechanic or machinist and ask him for some crocus (sp) cloth.Dip it in solvent or kerosene and wrap a strip around the fork tube and pull it back and forth unti the nick/scratch is gone. I polished up a set of tubes this way that have kept their seals for 5 years now.
