Has your bike been sitting for any length of time? If so it sounds like you to put fresh fuel in it along with a good slug of Berryman's B12 liquid. or B & D Gas treatment. The carbs may be gummed up. You may have to run two or 3 tanks thru it to get them cleaned out. If you check out the tech section here you should also see a complete carb rebuild if it is that bad.

I have recordings by Carlos Montoya and Manitas de Plata both highly recognized Classical Guitarists and they are not as clean as this performance. Go Roy.

This has been a fun thread. I've seen a lot of old friends and met some really odd new ones here. Ihope we can keep this going for a while. I had a 650 Yamaha just like the one pictured. It was the first 650 with an electric starter and a disk brake. Instead of a button to activate the starter it used a lever that activated a compression release so the starter could spin the motor.The four leading shoe front brake it came with 1969-1971 actually worked better then the disk but was not as "modern" looking.

You know that is interesting. I also went to the smaller front tire on my RSTD and then went back to stock. I came to the conclusion that since I didn't have the weight on the front end that an RSV has that the smaller tire made it too twitchy for me. -
It has some nice stuff on it and it doesn't look too bad except for the missing lower fairing piece on the left. The wood grain on the dash is somewhat rare,it has the VentureLine backrest,rotor covers and lower light bar.We all know 84K is not out of line depending on maintence. Offer him $200 and see if he will go for it.

I looked into putting a car tire on the rear of my 1st gen, but could never find a 16 car tire with that narrow a width. I did not check with any of the vintage tire makers however and you may have some luck there. Try Cooper Tires, and Coker Tires. There is also Universal, Lucas and Diamond Back. I was getting 19000 to 22000 out of my back tires so I really didnt worry too much about it. Now I am triked so it is moot.

Don't pull the tank yet. Put some Sea Foam or Star Tron or B&G gas treatment ( my prefered cleaner) or Berryman's B12 and pour in the gas tank and mix well and then drive it around. It may take 2 to three tanks but it will clean it out. I brought an 08 back to life that had been sitting for 3 years without taking anything apart. I have used all of the above mentioned cleaners and they all seem to work B$G and Berryman' are my favorite. -
What he said. While I don't have your wrist problems I do live and ride in the Western Wasatch mountains of Utah and have used a throttle drag system for many years. They used to come standard on British bikes and you just set the amount of drag you needed with a screwdriver. The BMW came with a large thumb wheel. You could still roll it off or adjust it as needed. If your wrist is too tender to even hold any pressure then this wont work, but they are cheap enough that it may be worth try. As for electronic cruise, I think it will too complicated to adapt an RSV/RSTD unit and much cheaper to go with a universal aftermaket unit. Try these people http://www.mccruise.com/

My New Front Tire is NARROW

Remember that most of the people posting with advice in the conversation by their bike as listed are RSV riders and I would agree that for an RSV the narrower tire is a good choice because of the heavier front end. RAm5700 said he was riding an RSTD which does not have near the weight on the front end or the heavy steering of the RSV. JMPO but I don't think the narrower tire is needed on the RSTD and I don't think it works as well. I have ridden for many miles on both and ended up very happy with the 150. -
Well six more weeks of snow would be great here in Utah.We are in the midst of the worse drought in longer then most can remember.I know it will be hard to not be riding but the people and the animals really need the water. many farmer are on the verge of loosing everything.

If you really need to replace the tube try Forking by Frank. http://www.forking-by-frank.com This guy is first class. I used to use them all the time when I needed replacement tubes for something I was rebuilding.He has been around since the late sixties early 70's. Still family owned and run. I polished the burrs down on my forks with crocus cloth soaked in kerosene.

I agree. On the RSTD I tried both and ended up liking the 150 better. The RSTD doesn't have the weight on the front end that the RSV does. I thought that the bike felt more secure with the 150 tire on it and the low speed handling wasn't an issue after a few weeks of riding. -

I also had a set on my RSTD. They were great. Made it so easy to remove the bags and clean back there and also to check the rear brake pads as they tend to wear funny and quick. I also bought mine from Rick Butler, they were just as the ones you saw on ebay. -

Jay We hope you decide to make your membership here permanent,not just because we saved you money but also because you find as we have that there is a terrific fellowship here and some genuine caring even tho many of us have never met face to face, and may never do so. Many of us no longer ride Royal Star's yet we continue to hang out here. The bikes brought us together but we stay together because of each other. -

Method of removing the fuel filter posted by SleeperHawk in this thread http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11035 Page 219 of the tech forum Why do you guys find the fuel filter hard to change? 1. Take the seat off 2. Remove battery cover (both sides). 3. Remove the plug wires from the cover in front of the filter. 4. Slide out the front cover to the right side of bike 5. Slide the boot holding the fuel filter to left side of bike 6. Remove hose from the top of filter 7. Filter will now drop below bracket and pull filter to the right side of bike 8. Remove bottom hose 9. reverse the process here are some of the part numbers for other fuel filters that work Wix 3304 NAPA 3011 Purolator F 100 24 AutoZone FF3330 (luber-finer G478) (has a metal body) NAPA Gold 3007 (has a metal body) takes about 30 minutes.
