86 Venture fuel leak
Pegasus1300 replied to paysaw's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Remove the fuel tank and patch it. You have to take off the back sub frame to get the tank out. -
Cheaper cost and better mileage. greater contact patch for braking, better traction.

No the JIS head screw is for real. If you take it out you can take out the magnetic post and clean it. Funny little thing but there it is.

You ever get so tired of riding you just HAD to stop and sleep?
Pegasus1300 replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
I was riding late at night about 6 years ago coming back from Idaho Falls I got so tired I couldn't make another mile. I found a motel but it was closed, They had a couch on the front porch so I slept there for a couple hours then went on. I used to get real low energy around 2 or 3 in the afternoon so I would find a shady tree and sleep for a 1/2 hour or so then go on and be fine. -
That was my position also after the accident. I could still have ridden, probably for several more years, on two wheels but my wife was not going to do that and I didn't want to go back to not having her on the back. She is comfortable on three wheels and now so am I and I don't think I could go back at least not for long rides to two.

It looks like a Rokon TrailBlazer from the 70/80's. They were a lot fun. I thought they were still making them here,

After my crash in 2011 I went to a trike. Since the RSVS was totaled I found a Goldwing Trike from an old friend who at 87 decided it was time to stop. His wife couldn't ride with him anymore and he didn't want to ride alone. A short test ride will convince you that you are out of your mind and there is no way you are going to three wheels and why did anybody ever come up with a contraption like this? It took me about 6 months and a 3000 mi trip down 191 to Az boarder and back up 89 to finally get the hang of it and feel comfortable with it. I do admit to being a slow learner. I can now broadslide it in low speed corners and that is fun steering with the wrist. After three years I am getting to really like the idea of triking tho I don't think the Goldwing and I will ever be real friends. The transmission sucks, and the seating position does not work for my knees and hips. If you want to try out a trike without spending big bucks and have something that is reversible try a Towpac or a Trigg outfit. These seem to be the best of the outrigger type trikes and can be done for under $5000. This will probably be my next trike as I can't swing the $20,000 to buy a bike and trike it.

Pictures of what you have would help a lot. Do you have bar end weights that came on bike originally?

A few questions
Pegasus1300 replied to comingbackdown's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
JIS Screwdrivers are easy to find, go Vessel and they have a motorcycle set in all three sizes (1, 2, 3) http://www.vesseltools.com Clutch bleeding is simple: if you look just above where the shift lever is you will see a square rubber cap. Pull that up and you will see the bleeder screw. It is easier to bleed if you remove the Aluminum cover, there several Allen head screws and the bottom one has a copper washer on it. Remember where this one goes. BTW once you get the cover off put that screw back in the hole so it doesn't drip all over everything. Bleeding from there is simple but remember to cover the area under the master cylinder so you don't get brake fluid on your paint or plastic. Use DOT 3 or DOT 4. -
fold-able antenna needed
Pegasus1300 replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Look in the tech section for a parts list and how to on the "Marshall mod". That will give foldable antennas -
I have used BG in an 08 that sat for 3 years with untreated gas. The can it comes in was not resealable at the time so I put the whole can in it. After running the bike long enough to ensure it was in the carbs I let it sit for a couple of days. It ran much better. I also gave it a shot of Beryman's B12 for a couple of more tanks and never had any trouble with it. As far as I could tell there was no issue with component compatability as far as the BG is concerned.

TriWing also makes a conversion for either the the RSTD or the RSV. It their ad it says they have two body styles but the rality is the only difference is the tailights. Tri Wing kits are solid axle not IRS. You can install them yourself thi and save some money that way.

Well I guess you made the 1st joke so you're fair game now. As to a brown. Yamaha had a beautiful set available at one time complete with studs. But they did not hold up very well and they soon became unrecognizable as brown as the color faded out. They haven't been available for years, and I haven't seen any used either. You might try Ace High Leathers. She does really nice work and is a member here as well. http://www.acehighleathers.com Remember the Lone Ranger's saddle was black and silver.

Pegasus1300 replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
go find him a cheap set of Harley Road King or Ultra take offs. Because the 1st gen mufflers have a pretty good bend in them they are not likely to work. The Harley's will. -
Best I can come up with is Gilera, maybe a 350 but no idea what year or model.

New tire on and 1st thing my wife said
Pegasus1300 replied to midnightrider1300's topic in Watering Hole
As I have posted here before Avon's ride on air. Keep the pressure up and you will get a good ride and a decent life span out of them -
Great information.Thanks. Its all moot for me now as the trike has car tires anyway, but others can use this if they wish.

1938 Triumph Deluxe 3.H 350 Cost 56Lbs when new. Keep it moving on I can't post pictures

But somebody photoshopped Triumph onto a BSA. They came in red the Triumphs in turquoise Blue. The BSA's had the forward lean on the cylinders while the Triumphs were straight up. and the Triumphs of the day were Tridents, BSA's Rocket 3

I loved those old Jags. They were so comfortable at speed didn't really come into their own until about 100. I started with a 48 Chevy Fleetline convertible that I put a 301 Jimmy 6 cyl in with a 3speed floor shift from a 1936 Chev sedan. Painted it Iridescent Plum Metallic I found in the 1956 Dodge color book with a white top and a Rose Naugahyde with white. I loved that car but my dad sold it while I was on a mission for my church to keep me out. After I came home and got married I tried to track it down but lost it after the second guy to buy it. Next 1964 Valiant v200 with the 273 V and a 4 speed 1968 Roadrunner (1st year) I drove it from New Orleans to Salt Lake City about 2000 mi in 22 hrs. What a trip. New freeways no traffic and no cops. toyota corona VW Bus Chevy Blazer (72) Thunderbird (69) Black on black on black 429. Great car fast and comfortable Chrysler Town and Country 8 passenger wagon. piece of junk. but very comfortable Cad Eldorado (78 last of the tuna boats) great car, fast comfortable and economical. Over 300k on the original transmission/engine. Still looked good when i sold it with over 300K on it. Buick Riviera (84) nice car but not what the early Rivs where. Tornado (78) great car but badly abused before I got it. Dodge Mirada(80). nice car good looks but basically cheap. Turned it over to the kids, they thought it was great. Taurus SHO (89?) ugly green but very fast and a good handling car and comfortable. Was coming up on major maintenance that I didn't want to get involved in so I sold it. Suzuki Forenza (06) first new car I bought since 1973. Still have it, Runs good, costs me almost nothing to drive and looks ok typical small car comfort ie little to none. Jeep Grand Cherokee (2000) I bought an Harmonica for $6000.00 and they gave me the Jeep for free.:rotf: Still have both, but the Jeep gets more use. Mustang GT convertible (1994) first year they put the running horse back in the grill. Loved that car. Bought right after the last wreck when I thought I was done riding. We know how long that lasted. Anyway no one liked it or would ride in it with me so I sold it to an enthusiast who will love it as it deserves. Only had 84k on it.

That is such a simple elegant solution. I really like that

Question About Carbs
Pegasus1300 replied to jbkieser's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have never tried that. I usually use a small pair of vise grips. Of course the screw has to be replaced at that point but then if its that buggered you would anyway. -
Question About Carbs
Pegasus1300 replied to jbkieser's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I got mine about a month ago from Vessel for 30.00 for a #1 #2 #3 motorcycle set. set # 900/KIT-P123 http://www.vesseltools.com/ This is the oldest screwdriver manufacturer in Japan and it used to be that the only decent hand impact driver came from these guys. Mine is 40 years old and still works great.
